"Yeah. We shouldn't trust him. He's a freak to us, unlike Sapphire, who's with Sonic and the others." Another one said before giving me a death stare.

I grew upset and wanted to say "I am Sonic! I just look different." but they wouldn't believe me one bit even though I tell the truth.

I felt Sapphire hold my hand as she looked at me.

"Don't worry...It'll be okay. They're just being jerks." She says, giving me comfort.

Then she looked over at the two mobians who were talking crap about me and said, "Hey! He's my boyfriend! Leave him alone.

He just wanted to join with Sonic and help everyone! He's not a monster!"

My face turned bright red as I quickly looked away.

The two mobians could only freeze as they stared at Sapphire in shock.

"Wh-What?! He's your...boyfriend?!?!" One of them said.

Sapphire nodded.

"W-We're so sorry, Sapphire! We didn't know!" The other mobian said before those two apologized to me as well.

"It's okay. I know you two were a bit judgemental about me." I replied as I smiled a bit before I sweat dropped.

"Well, we gotta continue our way." Sapphire says. "Bye."

After we were away from those two mobians, I slugged her on the shoulder as she started laughing hard.

"Are you crazy and an idiot?! That was really embarrassing just lashing out at them and saying that I'm your boyfriend! What if Amy heard that?!" I said as my face turned red again.

"Sorry. But, you are. What else am I gonna do? And besides, they were being disrespectful and judgemental.

I had to defend you so that they don't pick on you in the near future." Sapphire says before sticking her tongue out at me in a playful manner.

Sapphire's POV 💙

Sonic sighed a little.

"Okay. That's true. But, I recommend not doing that again. Amy might hear that." He says before looking at me wearily.

"Alright." I replied.

I looked over and then scratched him behind the ears.

He suddenly made a growl-y purring noise after I did that before he had that look in his eyes like he was in heaven.

"C'mon~! Stop tha~t! We're in public!" Sonic whined as he looked at me.

"I can't help it. You're so fluffy and cute!" I say, gushing in adore.

"Please, Sapphire! Gimme a brea~k!" Sonic whined again.

I started laughing hard before I stopped.

"Okay. I'll quit for real this time." I said after I stopped laughing and wiped the tears from my eyes.

"Thank you." Sonic says before smacking me upside the head with his hand.

I giggled as we continued walking while Sonic and I looked at each other.

I noticed that when I looked at Sonic's eyes, they were filled up with love, lust, and a little bit sad.

"Sonic?"

"Mm?"

"Is everything okay? I see a little bit of sorrow in your eyes." I asked, looking at him concernedly.

Sonic shook his head as he lowered his head to the point where a shadow fell over his eyes.

He squeezed my hand a little bit tightly as I waited.

"Can I tell you when we head back to your place?" Sonic asked.

I nodded before we hugged each other.

I rubbed his back soothingly before resting my chin on his shoulder.

Sonic didn't say anything after we parted from hugging.

"Whatever's going on, everything'll be okay." I said as we held hands.

Sonic nodded in response.

I smiled as I laced my fingers between Sonic's.
