The girl sighed as she checked the engine of her car and realised that the car wouldn't go anywhere until it was fixed. She would fix it but her brother had taken her tools the previous day, much to her dismay.

"That jerk causes me so much inconvenience, even when he's not around" she muttered as she looked around in search of a sign of life. It was 10PM, and her car just happened to break down in the middle of a deserted road. 

She hadn't seen any sign of another car for half an hour. The fact that she was absolutely exhausted didn't help her growing impatience as she paced on the road, desperate to get home. She wasn't scared, but something about the eerie silence and the absence of civilization in the area gave her chills. She wanted to get out of the area as soon as possible. 

As she was pacing on the road trying to think of a solution to her problem, she saw a source of light from the corner of her eye. She walked towards the light and found herself facing a building which looked like something out of a horror movie. A rusty sign in the driveway indicated that it was a hotel. The hotel seemed to stand almost triumphantly as if it was aware of the fact that any stray traveller would have to rely on it for shelter.

Bada considered her options. Either she could spend the night at the hotel and leave in the morning after getting her car fixed or she could wait beside her car and pray for another car to pass by so that she could get a lift. Since the chances of the latter happening were almost zero, she decided to stay the night at the creepy-looking hotel.

She walked towards the entrance of the hotel. The closer she got, the chillier was the atmosphere. She didn't know whether it was because of her being scared, but Bada felt herself shivering from the cold. She rubbed her arms and walked into the building, silently praying to every god she knew of. She was never the religious type, but just being near the hotel made her want to pray.

The lobby was medium sized, not too big. Bada walked to reception and rung the little bell on the counter. A middle-aged woman came out of the door in the back and flashed a ghost of a  smile. She was wearing a worn out uniform with a name tag that said her name was Yeri.

"Hello! Welcome to the Midnight Hotel! What kind of room would you like?" she asked as she stared at Bada intensely.

"What kind of rooms are available and what are their prices?" Bada asked, exhausted by the events of the night.

"We have a standard room at  ₩ 55,000, a suite at  ₩ 62,000 and a deluxe suite at  ₩ 75,000. Which one would you like?"

Bada's eyes widened at the prices. She blinked in astonishment as the receptionist waited for her response with an obligatory but easy-going smile.

Are these people crazy? They can't actually be offering a deluxe suite at a price as low as  ₩75,000, right?

"I'd like a deluxe suite, please." Bada said with a nervous smile. The receptionist handed her a form and she filled it out quickly.

 After a few minutes, the receptionist lit up a candle and motioned for Bada to follow her. She felt confused about why they would need a candle when she realised that all the light in the lobby was due to candles, which rested on a huge chandelier on the ceiling. 

The two walked through the long corridors in silence. The deeper into the hotel they went, the more nervous Bada felt. She had a bad feeling about the place which she couldn't shake off. Finally, Yeri stopped outside a faded door and inserted the key into the keyhole. 

The room looked old but beautiful. It was dimly lit and led to a beautiful balcony. It was maintained wonderfully and all the exhaustion hit Bada like a truck when she saw how comfortable the bed looked.

"I hope you have a nice stay. If you need anything, please call the reception at 001 and we'll be happy to assist you" Yeri said, pointing at what looked like an ancient telephone.

"Thank you" Bada said as Yeri left her alone in the room. She jumped onto the bed and felt herself slowly drifting to sleep in the strange hotel.
