Chapter 21

As soon as the crash is heard, both Porchay and Macau abandon the game and hurriedly put on their socks and shoes. Vegas and Pete's lesson of survival: your chance of survival in any kind of situation goes up when you wear good shoes to run.

Macau grabs his stash of guns and hands one to Porchay. They both speed up their walk cautiously and avoid running since they don't know the situation. They need to assess it as they walk. Macau leads the way while Chay follows. Hearts are thumping in adrenaline and worry.

When they are on the scene, Porchay feels his supply of air is cut off from his lungs. Everybody draws their gun and points it to each other, except Vegas, who has his hands half up in the air.

Macau immediately points his gun at Kim. His hands and stand are steady. He is ready to shoot, consequences be damn.

Shit. This is bad.

Porchay tucks his gun away after disarming it. He knows what he has to do. A hand grabs the end of his t-shirt, stalling him from moving.

"I've told you not to let him assume things, have I not?" Vegas whispers to Chay. "He was trained to think about the worst in any kind of situation, Porchay. Mix that with a bad attitude and a big ego and you got this. Sorry, Mate. Move carefully now. Phi hates to get shot."

If it's a different kind of situation, Porchay would've laughed.

"Phi Kim," he says softly, to not make an accident happen, before carefully walking up to Kim. Kim has seen him from the tail of his eyes, but still not lowering his gun.

Chay is blocking Kim's line of shots with his body. The muzzle presses to his chest.

That's ok. His Kim wouldn't shoot him.

That's ok. Better him than Vegas.

"Let's get this off, ok?" his voice is soft and even. It's trembling. His heartbeats are dominating his eardrum. He can't hear anything else and focuses on what he does now.

He then carefully puts back the safety pin and pulls the gun from Kim's hand, one rigid finger at a time. He hands the gun to Big who takes it with the speed of light, in case Kim changes his mind.

Porchay grabs Kim's hand and starts to pull him away to the door, when Vegas says, "You can stay here for as long as you like, you know. We'll protect you, from anyone of any kind."

Kim turns his body back again, anger painted on his face, wanting to smack Vegas's face as hard as he can. But Chay pushes him with his own body. It's harder now since there is resistance.

Porchay smiles at the family in between his hard effort to pull Kim. "Thanks, Phi. See you later."

Big is trying to help but Kim easily outmaneuvered him and pressed him down hard to the floor. Chay grimaces at the thought of how painful it must be. Chay can't help but think that it could be him on the floor, cheek pressing on the hard cold marmer tile. "Don't fucking touch me!" Kim growls.

He hurriedly pulls Kim's body from Big after sending a signal to everyone that he best do this alone. "No, Phi. Let Phi Big go, please. Come on." Both of his arms are circling Kim's narrow waist, pulling him with all his might.

Why is this man so strong?

They reach the inside of the car and Chay feels he is running out of breath. Kim is driving, not even giving time for Big to get to the stirring wheel after pushing Chay to the passenger seat.

"I know you're angry," Chay starts and Kim gives him a look of 'no shit', his whole face is still dark and dangerous, Chay tries to thread carefully, "But you can't point your gun at anyone like that!"

"What am I supposed to do when you won't even pick up the phone let alone see me? Not coming home? What's the matter? Your phone died again?" Chay can pick up the sarcasm just fine.

"So your answer to that problem was to wreck someone's house and to point a gun to Phi Vegas?"

"That fucker shouldn't have come between you and me!" Kim hits the steering wheel hard.

"No one comes between you and me!" Chay shouts his frustration.

"Then why were you with him?" his voice is a cold wrath.

'Calm down, Chay. Be the sane one here.' Chay inhales deep to try to gather his cool.

"I didn't know he would be there in the first place, Phi. Ask Phi Big."

"I've told you, I don't trust no one."

'Ah, fuck calm down. This man is infuriating.'

"The problem is you don't trust me also. And it's hard to be in a relationship without trust."

Kim stays silent.

"I've tried to dodge Phi Ash ..."

Kim laughs, unhumorously. "Phi Ash ..." His voice is condescending.

'Ignore it, Chay.'

"As best as I could. He was a good senior to me back in London. He helped me a lot, even with my mental health. He was, is, a good Phi to me but I ignored him for you. But that's still not enough!"

"So what? Are you saying you want to be with him now?" Kim shouts. The car is getting faster.

"That's not what I'm saying!" Chay shouts back. "God, you're so infuriating! If I want to be with him, shouldn't I just take him instead of accepting you back?"

Kim smirks in a way that Chay hates. "I see... It's good to have a choice, isn't it?"

Porchay looks at him for a while before he says, "You want me to make him a choice? Fine!" He takes his phone and presses Ash's number. "Sawatdee Khrub, Phi Ash."

But that's all he can say because Kim grabs his phone, opens the window, and tosses it to the road with a vengeance. Chay is just glad it doesn't hit the car behind. But now his blood is rising. He feels beyond frustrated. He can feel tears starting to gather.

"Don't fuck with me, Porchay!" Kim shouts again, completely not sorry he just throwing a perfectly good and expensive handphone out of the window of a moving car.

"Won't dream of it," Chay says sarcastically. "I don't cheat on you. It's up to you to believe it or not." After that, they stay silent all the way to the main house. Chay wipes his tears silently while staring at the street.

He feels exhausted and wronged.

'I don't cheat on you'.

Kim's mind reeled back to the Dahlia and her kiss. For a second there, isn't he ... kissing her back?

No.

No, he's not.

Kim steels his mind.

He is so not cheating on Porchay.

When they get to the destination, Porchay hurriedly gets out and slams the door hard in between.

He hasn't walked far when Kim grabs his hand. "We're not done talking here."

He huffs. "What are we going to talk about more? That you're mad at me? Check. That you don't trust me? Check. That you don't want me to contact Phi Ash? Double-check on that because you tossed my phone into the street. Congratulations!" Chay knows his loud voice will draw attention, but he doesn't care. He is so mad right now.

Kim grits his jaw. Truthfully, he can't take the tears that are now streaming down Porchay's face, but listening to him listing all like that, his fury comes back again. "I just want you to pick up your damn phone when I call! Is that so hard?" Kim doubles down, equally loud.

"Because I knew you would just shout at me like right now! That was why I didn't pick up!" Chay wants to shake this man of his. "Do you know what you look like when you make a psychotic guy like Phi Vegas a sane one?"

Kim admits that was not a good call, but at that time emotions got the best of him.

"What more do you want me to do, Phi? Tell me," but Kim stays silent. He turns away, unable to look at his crying boyfriend. He tries to reign in his anger. He knows now, that it gets them nowhere but hurting Porchay.

Porchay is the last person on earth he wants to see hurt, especially by his own hands. But it seems it's not as easy as he thinks and wants.

"I don't even want to look at you right now," Porchay pulls his hand away and steps away from Kim. He doesn't look back even when Kim calls for him.

Kim lingers there, watching Chay retreat until he can't be seen anymore.

God. He fucked up big time, didn't he?

***

"Trouble in paradise?" Kinn asks the whiskey-drinking Kim in a dimly lit little bar they have in the house. Kim looks rough.

"If you only want to mock, just turn around and leave me alone."

Kinn smiles. It's been ages since he last teased his younger brother. "Pour me a glass." His little brother does so. This is a good drink, Kinn thinks as he sips.

"Porsche is worried."

Kim snorts a little dark laugh. "You, Porsche, Vegas, and Pete, maybe Tankhun too, should form an 'I'm worried about Porchay' club."

"He can't help it, can he? Since it's his only little brother that you mess around with." Kim glares at the word 'mess around'. Kinn sips his drink. "And I can't help it since Porsche is my lover. I want him to always be happy. Be content."

"You think I don't want that for Chay?" Out of all people, he wants that the most. But it seems out of those people who care about Porchay, he makes the boy cry the most.

"Then you should start to use your head more than let your emotions get the best of you, Kim! In case you haven't noticed, Porchay is 19. This is his first relationship. I thought you were smart."

"This is my first time too, you know."

Kinn is taken aback. He gives a 'Really?' without a word. Kim isn't exactly innocent and when it comes to sex, his are much more colorful than Kinn's or Khun's, being a handsome top pop star and all.

Kim nods.

"Why?"

Kim shrugs. "Never had the want before. Commitment is a chain and I hate to be chained. But then I never had this feeling like what I'm feeling for Porchay. When I suppressed it, it just got bigger. Louder. When I don't suppress it, it gets wilder and firmer. Sometimes I feel, I can't live without seeing just a glance of him in any kind of form. I felt like dying every day that I lived without him. You know?"

Kinn hums. Yes, he does know. That is almost exactly what he feels for Porsche.

"It used to make me scared, my feeling for Porchay."

"Now?"

"I'm done being scared. Scared won't get me anywhere. I came to terms with accepting some time ago. I just need to get stronger and do better. I want him and I must have him. That's all. I don't care if Porsche doesn't understand it."

"He just wants his brother to be happy."

"Well, too bad that his brother is soooo pretty that many pursue," Kim laughs a genuine laugh now, "and it gets my head to jump on crazy things because I'm afraid of losing him again."

"Suthivanischak?"

Kim nods.

Kim is anything but inferior, but he also has a full-functioning brain with a shocking high IQ. He knows the qualifications of Angkarn Suthivanischak.

But he's not afraid of it, of him. Ash can give Chay the world, but he can give him the sun. He just needs to be better than Ash. In anything. In everything.

He needs to calculate better and start to dismantle.

He can't rely only on Chay's feelings for him.

He needs a better strategy.

"I thought he was straight."

Kim shrugs. "Big said he grabbed Chay's hand when he wanted to leave. He knows I'm Chay's boyfriend but doesn't back out. I guess he's serious." The hand that grabs the glass tightens. Kim is surprised it isn't breaking yet.

Kinn whistles. The effect of the doe-eyed Porchay is something.

Ash might look gentle, calm, and have a perfectly polished manner from the outside, but he and Kim know better. Ash is not afraid to fight dirty. The problem is, Kim is also not afraid to fight dirtier.

It will become a problem if they have a clash with a political dynasty like The Sutivanischak.

For a while, they only drink in silence.

Kinn puts his glass down and stands up. "Say sorry, earnestly. Admit you are wrong with no buts and better yourself. The Kittisawsd are headstrong, but they have soft hearts for us, their lovers. Just don't cheat on them, and then any problem can be fixed. I spare you from my own foolish and hellish experience."

Kim nods gracefully. Yeah, he doesn't want to experience that.

"And, oh, welcome to the club, Kim. The Kittisawasds are anything but boring, but with one wrong move, you'll be tossed from heaven to hell. Just crawl back, again and again and again. Make sure they can't get rid of us."

Kim laughs and gulps his whiskey again, letting the liquid burn down his throat and chest.

Starting that better strategy now, by getting on his knee for Chay to forgive him. Maybe it can be resolved before the morning comes. But Kinn is right. The Kittisawasds are sure headstrong and although Chay is so kind, Kim can tell he is so pissed off at him right now. His mind is already starting to make plans for tomorrow.

Kim sighs and puts down his own glass. He needs to pray before he goes to Chay's room, he thinks. He will make merits for a week straight to persuade God to be on his side.

He needs to do a lot of things because he can't afford to lose Porchay. Never.

It's time to face the music then.
