Chapter 3

The day drew to a close and the last rays of sunlight brightened the city. Like lighthouses, the illuminated peaks of the skyscrapers looked like, to which the rays of the sun could still fight their way. You could have imagined that with the onset of night the mass of people and cars would lighten. But instead it seemed to increase.

In the city that never sleeps, a girl fought her way unobserved through the crowd of rushing people with a direct view of the tower. Its tip glowed in a red, where the sun could still reach it and shortly afterwards disappeared completely. The letters of the word 'STARK' immediately replaced it with their own light. The first stars appeared in the sky and flashed merrily to the sun for a good night. The girl stopped just in front of the tower before she turned into the neighboring park and walked in. The park was the only thing that was deserted at that time.

After a short time that she seemed to be waiting there for something, a light near a tree drew her attention. With low interest she looked at the animal that came out behind it. It could have been a wolf if the bright red eyes hadn't proved the opposite. Also the size of the animal was remarkable. It was at least twice as big as a normal wolf and the black fur had strange, glittering spots. Nevertheless, it seemed completely scruffy as it was dull and unevenly spaced in many directions. After a last look to the tower Vayala gave the monster a sign, which attacked her immediately without hesitation. She pulled out her sword and her clothes were replaced with her usual red leather suit so she could fight. She fended off the animal with everything she could spend. Magic and her sword, as well as the roar and hiss of the monster soon drew attention from the tower to both of them. Vayala could see someone in a metal armor flying out of the tower, closely followed by the thunder god. When they landed, the last one did not hesitate a second and began to fight the animal. A few minutes later the animal retreated. It looked back at Vayala before dissolving into thousands of small sparks, similar to the stars in appearance and glow. Curiously, the god of thunder looked at the girl as the man in the armor searched the surroundings. He did not believe that the animal had simply disappeared.

Vayala leaned weakly against a tree. She had taken a lot and even her battle suit turned darker. She was hurt. Concerned, the god looked at her. She smiled weakly and just brought out a thank you. "You are hurt," said the thunder god and wanted to help her. She immediately took a few steps back. Fear and vigilance in her gaze. "We are no enemies. We want to help you," he said calmly and put down the hammer as a confirmation. Vigilantly she looked at him before stumbling a step closer. That was enough for him. He carefully approached and caught her just in time as she lost her consciousness and collapsed. He carried her effortlessly towards the Tower, even though its owner thought it unwise. "She needs help, Stark," the thunder god said seriously and looked at the person being addressed. He nodded shortly afterwards. "All right. I fly up and tell Banner about it," he said and flew off immediately.

The norse god was already no longer paying attention to him and carried the girl quickly into the tower. Her blood had already soaked her suit in some places. Frighteningly steadily the dark red liquid fell drop by drop to the ground. The AI-operated elevator quickly went up and opened its doors with a 'pling'. The prince handed the girl over to the two geniuses and waited in front of the room. The whole team was now in uproar. Who was she? And where did she come from? Of course it was clear to everyone that she couldn't possibly be from Earth. Thor could not offer any help. So she probably didn't come from any of the nine worlds. According to what Thor told the others, however, she had to be an excellent fighter. Natasha would like her to be a new member of the team, even though she would never admit it. But being the only woman on the team wasn't always easy.

Nevertheless. Because they had no information about her so far, they had to be careful. You should never let yourself be fooled by outer appearances. Thor had reported how well she had asserted herself against the animal. Which raised a second question. Where had this animal come from? JARVIS had not detected any anomalies. So it had literally appeared out of nowhere. Even our geniuses were surprised. When they stepped out of the room, they told the team what they needed to know. She had to rest now. The great loss of blood made her skin look much more pale.

But in a day or two, she'd wake up for sure. They all couldn't help but admire her secretly for having held out so long against this animal that was almost three times her size. There was something more mysterious about her: No one could find her sword. Thor had reported her weapon, but even when they had tried to find it, it had disappeared, as had any trace of the animal or the fight. Nobody had noticed her necklace either, which was now again hung by a small pendant in the shape of a sword. Meanwhile Vayala fought against the blackness that surrounded her. She wanted to wake up. She even had to. But she was still too weak. The plan had already been a little careless, but at least she had entered the tower that way. Without injuries it would not have been very convincing. Now she had to win her trust. Only so she could get her necessary information.

At the same time, Xandar waited impatiently, on his throne in Kandros, for a sign from his student. Directly in front of his throne thousands of small sparks gathered and became an animal. The monster that Vayala had fought stood before him. With his gaze he searched the animal for something. And finally found what he had been looking for. A note on the monster's leg. He tore off the message and read it through. A wicked grin formed on his face, with some pride in his eyes.
