Survive Part Two - Lord Of The Rings

Gil-galad sat in his cell who was sitting on the floor in concern. When Elrond was dragged out of here he looked terrible. He groaned and leaned his head back shutting his eyes tightly. He was not sure how much time passed but it must have been a few days. He wondered how Elrond was holding up, he prayed he was doing alright. He swallowed but stiffened when he heard the door open. He sat forward and opened his eyes.

"Well, how are you today?" Sauron asked as he strolled in.

Gil-galad just glared as Sauron knelt down beside him. "You are still upset about me pushing Elrond around?" Sauron asked.

"You almost drowned him!" Gil-galad snapped.

"Now why would a drown a good assent," He replied. Gil-galad snapped his mouth closed as he glared at him. Sauron laughed as he held up a ring, he held in his hands looking it over.

"Such a small little thing," Sauron said as Gil-galad stiffened. He slipped it on a finger and smiled. He relaxed his shoulders and held up the ring up.

"This ring can do a lot," Sauron said. He focused and grinned as he felt a rush of power. He smirked as he saw the look of shock pass over the elf's face. Sauron's cruel and dark features faded into nothing. His white hair shifted back into its natural fiery red. His eyes became far sharper, his yellow eyes glowed deeper.

Sauron let out a slight laugh and said, "Oh. I missed feeling like this,"

Gil-galad swallowed as Sauron's eyes pierced into him. Sauron smiled as he grabbed Gil-galad's face and the elf groaned as he started to feel weak. After a few moments though Sauron let him go and smiled softly. "Yes. This ring can do a lot," He said. "Now. Where are the other rings? Or would you rather me bring Elrond in here to continue with a conversation?"

"No! Please, do not hurt him," Gil-galad begged.

"Then tell me," He said. "Who as the other rings?"

Gil-galad bit his lip tightly and looked down. He couldn't give them away...but Elrond.

"Perhaps I should," Sauron said standing up. "You seem much more talkative when he's around."

"No! Don't-" The elf began but gasped as Sauron grabbed his neck and said, "Then me what I what to know."

Gil-galad closed his eyes and said, "I...can't."

"I thought so," He said and stood up. "I'll be back shortly with your friend."

Gil-galad fell back against the wall as Sauron turned and walked out. What was he going to do?

~~~
Elrond huddled against the wall breathing deeply. The poison had run its course and he felt horrible, he was thankful for Isildur doing his best to offer some comfort to the struggling elf. Elrond looked as he felt Isildur ease him into a sitting position.
"Feeling any better?" He asked. Elrond shook his head and closed his eyes as he settled back. Isildur sighed and patted his back. The two looked up as the door to the cell opened and Sauron strolled in. Elrond's eyes widened at how he looked.
"Amazing what talent was wasted on that line of smiths," Sauron said looking at the elven ring he had. Isildur growled and ran at Sauron but the chain on his ankle jerked him back causing him to fall over. Sauron just raised an eyebrow as he watched the human sit up and slowly growl at him.
"Yes?" Sauron asked.
"You killed my father!" He snapped.
"Oh. Right, I did," Sauron replied. "Yet, right now you are not really a concern of mine."
Sauron looked at Elrond and gestured him over. "Come on. That stubborn fool is too much trouble."
Elrond tensed but he remembered what Maedhros told him: 'Just go with the flow of things' Elrond was about to move but Isildur moved in front of him.
"You will not go near him," The man snapped.
Sauron sighed and said, "I do want to find these other rings. So please move or else you will regret it greatly."
Isildur stayed in the place and Sauron sighed. He moved quickly and slapped the man away heating up his hand burning the man's cheek slightly. The man screamed and fell over clutching his cheek. Elrond moved over to his friend.
"Come on. He's fine," Sauron said as he strolled over.
"Fine," Elrond said. "At least let me make sure you did not do any harsh damage."
"Very well," Sauron replied as he leaned against the wall watching as the elf sat the man up. He checked his cheek and sighed softly.
"You'll be alright," Elrond said before standing up and struggling to take a few steps. He still felt weak from everything and had a hard time to move about fully. Sauron sighed and grabbed his arm and dragged him out of the room. Elrond wince as he was dragged through the halls. He was pushed to the floor once they reached Gil-galad's cell. Elrond winced as he crashed into the floor.
"Now. Shall why don't you tell me who has the other rings," Sauron said as he drew a knife and ran a hand along the blade heating the steel up.
Elrond looked up and met Gil-galad's eyes. He gave him a light smile as Gil-galad just looked down. "I can't." The elven king said.
"Of course," Sauron said as he grabbed Elrond and made a small cut along his arm. Elrond tensed as he felt the pain bit into him. Elrond then screamed lightly as was stabbed in the leg. Sauron kicked Elrond back to the floor and he grunted. Sauron then pressed his knee into Elrond's back causing him to let out a low yelp.
"Well?" He asked. Gil-galad looked away and held his tongue. Sauron sighed and looked at the two rings on his hand. He then grabbed Elrond's head and focused his power. Elrond screamed as pain tore through his mind like wolves. He tried to wither away as the pain worsened as he started to feel worn out. Elrond was sure he heard Gil-galad scream for Sauron to stop. Yet he felt like he was hearing underwater again. He let out a breath as he Sauron let go and the pain spreading through his body eased up. He was flipped over on his back and he felt something sharp press to his side.
"Just leave him alone," Gil-galad said.
"Then tell me where are the rings?" Sauron asked.
Gil-galad just ducked his head and looked away. Sauron just grabbed Elrond and put his knife to his shoulder driving it in. Elrond screamed and as pain drove through him. He swallowed and closed his eyes. It hurt...he grunted in pain as his mind slowly slipped out of consciousness. The last thing he saw as Sauron's flaming hair and burning bright eyes.
~~~

Elrond moaned as he sat up. He looked around and saw a world of white once more. Pain still racked his mind as he fell back. He was caught by strong arms, "I am sorry," Maedhros said as he moved Elrond into a better position.

"It hurts," Elrond moaned.

"I know," Maedhros said. Elrond shivered and leaned against him some more.

"It hurts to think," Elrond said.

"I know, Sauron can do that," Maedhros said. "Here. Sit up, I do not think Sauron will let you be unconscious for long."

Elrond sat up and winced. He looked at his Uncle with a tired expression. Maedhros just sighed and brushed some hair out of Elrond's face. "I can't give you much advice to help with the pain, trust me I know how much it hurts. Yet, try thinking of memory to ground your mind. Something happy. It could help a bit." He said.

"Uncle?" Elrond asked.

"Hmm?" Maedhros asked.

"...I am tired," He said. "I know this is a dream but...I am really tried."

Maedhros nodded and said, "You are strong and you can pull through this. After all, you had Maglor raise you. If you can deal with his lectures then I am sure you can deal with this."

Elrond just nodded and Maedhros paused for a moment. "You know you can be thankful that Melkor is not there. His ramblings were far worse than any lecture Maglor gave." He said.

"He rambled?" Elrond asked.

"He was worse than a child throwing a tantrum since they did not get any ice cream," Maedhros said earning a light laugh from Elrond.

"Hey...Uncle Nelyo?" Elrond asked after a few moments.

"Yes?" Maedhros asked.

"Thank you," He said.

"Of course," Maedhros said hugging him. Elrond then grunted as the world began to fade once more, Maedhros gave his shoulder a tight squeeze and said, "You are going to be just fine. Do not worry, everything will be fine."

"Will...you be here later?" He asked.

"Of course," Maedhros promised.

Elrond smiled and nodded.

~~~
Elrond woke up and coughed as he felt a thick liquid that silvered down his throat. He shifted and as he was forward by Sauron.
"There. Now you're awake," He said. "So. Shall we continue?"
"No!" Gil-galad said.
"Then tell me where the rings are or this elf suffers far more," Sauron said.
"Do not tell him anything," Elrond said in a low pained voice. "If the other two are out there...there is still a chance to stop this."
"Stop it?" Sauron laughed. "You can not stop this,"
Elrond looked at him with a determined expression. Sauron smiled in amusement, "still staying strong...I have to say most break rather quickly."
Sauron then smiled and said, "You know. You're very similar to your Uncle. He stayed very strong as I told you...but even he broke. Yet, I realized something it wasn't from the pain that broke him. No, know him he would live through the pain until it destroyed him in every manner. What broke him was the demons that lurked in his own mind. After all, he did kill his own kin, that horror haunted his mind. I just talked more about that, stretched that out. I think that did it. After I was able to break his mind his screams were louder and he did not have the strength to hold back."
Elrond froze a bit and looked away, biting his lip slightly. Sauron bent down to be right by him, "You are the same way aren't you?" He asked. "Is there something you regret? No...not regret. No...ah. That's it. It's grief. You feel pain for everyone you lost."
Elrond tensed a bit and Sauron chuckled seeing he got it. "Where does this grief start from...maybe your birth parents. After all, I am sure the memory of your father is nothing and your mother is just a gimps of something. No. Later...it started with Maglor and Maedhros. Yes, them. You miss them greatly. It must be hard for an immortal to live centuries without seeing someone they care for. Like your brother-"
Yet Sauron was cut off as Elrond turned on him and glared. "Do not speak of my brother," He snapped.
"Perhaps I will," Sauron said. "Unless of course Gil-galad over there feels that I should continue. The pain of one's mind is far worse than a simple stab to the shoulder."
Sauron looked over his shoulder and asked, "Well? What do you say?"
Gil-galad said nothing looking away. Sauron looked at Elrond and bent down. "Tell me do you hate yourself for your brother's death?" He said.
Elrond looked at him and he suddenly had an idea. He smiled at Sauron which suprised the dark lord causing to move back and look at Elrond with a questionable look. "You do not know my brother or me. If I ever hated myself for my brother's passing his spirit would have stormed out of Mandos and slapped me. Say what you will, I do not care."
Sauron looked at the elf and burst out laughing. He threw back his head as he laughed, "Ah. You are very amusing." He said his laughter quieted down. He regarded Elrond for a long moment and smiled, "You are very resilient. I must commend you on that. Yet, I will get the information I want."
Elrond settled back and kept his jaw in place. Sauron looked at the two and smiled. He walked to the door and called in two orcs. "I these to brought to a lower room, I would meet them there." He ordered.
Sauron walked out of the room leaving the orcs to moving the two elves to another room. The two elves were brought down the hall and into a large room. The two elves paled at the many objects in the room, Sauron looked at them and smiled. "Ah. Perfect," He said as he gestured the orcs who held Elrond. They dragged him over and strapped him down to a table. Sauron pulled out a thick cloth and tied it around Elrond's eyes.
"Now. I was going to hold back a bit on this torture but-I changed my mind." Sauron said as he took a small vial and forced Elrond's jaw open. He forced him to drink it and Elrond groaned as he liquid poured down his throat. Elrond coughed and shivered. Sauron then kept his jaw open and pricked the side of his mouth. Elrond coughed and shivered. He felt horrible. Yet, with his vision blocked he just felt a sharp and horrible pain spread through his body. He suddenly screamed as he heard a loud snap and pain spread flare up his right-left leg.
Elrond heard Gil-galad gasp and shout, "Fine! Just stay away from him! The other rings are with Galadriel and Gandalf. Just leave him be!"
"Ah. Very good, thank you." Sauron said. Elrond heard a scream and a snap and then everything went dark.
~~~

"Come on. Elrond, stay here." Elrond heard Maedhros's concered voice. Elrond opened his eyes and saw Maedhros. "Uncle?" He asked.

"Hey." He said with relief.

"What...what happened. Everything from when he last spoke was...strange." Elrond said.

"Try not to think about it," Maedhros said.

"I...what happened?" Elrond asked. "What did he do to me?"

"He poisoned you with something that makes everything hurt a lot more. He broke your leg and then-" He started but stopped short.

"What?" Elrond asked.

"Nothing," Maedhros said. "Sauron just lets his anger get the better of him."

Elrond nodded and slowly sat up. He looked around at the endless white and looked at Maedhros. "I know this just a dream...but I wish it looked more like home," Elrond said weakly.

Maedhros was about to speak when the area around the changed to a memory of Elrond's old home. Maedhros then shook his head muttering something about Valar being pushovers or total stones. Elrond looked at him as Maedhros turned to him and had him lay down in the bed.

"Just stay here and try not to move," Maedhros said.

"It hurts a lot," Elrond said. "I can barely move...did...did Gil-galad really tell him?"

"Yes. Yet, do not worry Elrond." Maedhros said. "I told you things will be okay and they will."

Elrond nodded and looked at him and said, "I like you better like this...you seem more...fluff."

"Fluffy?" Maedhros asked.

Elrond nodded and Maedhros shook his head and laughed. He rubbed his shoulder and said, "Just relax. You need your rest. Sauron did a number on you. Yet-"

"Yet, what?" Elrond asked.

"Nothing. Just focus on resting." Maedhros said. Elrond nodded and settled back, he looked up at his uncle who sat there with concern and anger on his face.

"What?" Elrond asked.

"Just contemplating a way to haunt Sauron and make him wish he was never even heard your name," Maedhros said. "I am pretty sure Curufin would join me if I told him."

"You're with your brothers?" Elrond asked.

"Yes, it seems I am stuck with them for eternity," Maedhros said with a light smile.

"You missed them," Elrond said.

"I guess I did, just don't tell them I said that. I will not hear the end of it." Maedhros said. Elrond laughed a bit and shifted a bit.

"Uncle Nelyo. What happened to me? I feel so strange," Elrond said.

Maedhros said and looked at him. "Elrond. Sauron put a lot of different things in that poison. So you are going to be feeling strange. Lord Lórien is doing his best to keep Sauron's nightmares and what he could do to your mind at bay."

"And?" Elrond asked. "There is something else."

"Elrond...you can feel your body right now. Right?" He asked.

Elrond nodded and said, "Yeah. It hurts,"

"What about your legs? How do they feel?" He asked gently.

"My-" He began but stopped short. "Uncle Nelyo...what-"

Elrond stopped short as he was pulled into a hug. "Why can't I feel them?" He asked burying his face deep into Maedhros's chest.

"He paralyzed you...I am really sorry, Ron." Maedhros said. Elrond sniffed and pushed close to him. Maedhros held him closed and really hoped that Sauron would allow Elrond to sleep off some of the pain. Yet, he knew they were not so lucky. Yet, at least while he was here perhaps Elrond could get a bit more comfort.

"Elrond," Maedhros said nudging him slightly to look up. Elrond shifted and looked up to face Maedhros.

"I know this is not going to help but when I was rescued from Angband, Fingon told me I should be thankful that I am alive. I thought he was insane, I still do but that's not my point. He told me that he thinks there was a reason I went through that. That there is a reason I survived and have to live with that pain. I see it know. I had to live through it to help you out. So, please, know this what your going through is not going to be the end. It's not pointless, you will be alright." Maedhros said.

"Can I still be hurting?" Elrond asked.

"Of course," Maedhros said as he let Elrond cuddle closer to him. He was quiet for a moment before he talked quietly about his time in Angband and then his healing. He did keep it short but he made sure to make it clear that he healed from that.

"Uncle Nelyo?" Elrond asked.

"Yes?" He asked.

"I...Thank you." Elrond said.

"Of course," Maedhros said. Maedhros then looked up and down at Elrond. He saw the mist start to shift and gripped Elrond's hand and said, "You're going to be alright."
