Nightmares - Silmarilion One Shot

A/n: Oops. My hand slipped I wrote more of Vórimarac.

Fingon gasped as he sat up in bed a scream still stuck in his throat. Even though his time in Angband was short lived he still had nightmares from the 'hospitality' he received. He got out of bed on shaky legs and put on his robe. His heart was still racing and he hoped some fresh air will help. He walked through the silent halls and then outside to a small garden. He sat down on a bench and took some deep breaths. "If you don't deal with our nightmares they won't just be nightmares anymore. You won't even have to go to sleep to see them." Said a voice behind him causing him to jump and fall of the bench.

He looked up and saw Vórimarac standing there with folded arms. Fingon took a deep breath and said, "Please make some noise at night when you move around and if it's, all the same, I don't want to talk about it right now."

Vórimarac shrugged and stepped around the bench. He rarely slept at night so he trained and practiced anything from hand to hand combat to all manners of weaponry to keep himself busy.

"Can I watch?" Fingon asked as sat back down on the bench.

Vórimarac looked at him and sighed, "Do whatever you want. Just don't distract me."

He then turned away and began to go through different sword technics. Fingon watched the sword move with deadly arcs and swings. Vórimarac moved swiftly and blocked each invisible attack. Fingon looked at him and saw that he had a less intense look in his eyes and his shoulders were a bit more relaxed.

"Vórimarac?" Fingon asked his voice soft. Vórimarac did not reply but he did look over at Fingon slightly.

"Does training the way you do help with the nightmares?" He asked.

Vórimarac stopped and thought for a moment. "It helps me but it won't do anything for you." He said finally.

Fingon blinked back some tears and looked up at him. He swallowed a bit and asked, "What can I do to make them stop?"

Vórimarac groaned and stuck a sword in the ground. He walked over and sat down next to him. Vórimarac ran a hand through his hair. "It's different for everyone, you need to find your own way to deal with them. Yet if you want advice...when the nightmare comes, let it. Then let it come, accept what happened to you. Accept you were weak at that moment and then let it go. It's over and in the past. Take some deep breaths and stand up to face another day." He said his blue eyes looking at the moon.

Fingon looked at him and used his sleeve to wipe the tears away from his face. When Vórimarac trained at night it was one of the only times he was relaxed enough to talk in a somewhat caring manner. "Now stop crying. The nightmares over," he said and dropped his cloak over Fingon's head. As Fingon said...somewhat.

"Hey!" Fingon said and moved the cloak off his head and Vórimarac was back practicing with his sword. Fingon watched and took a deep breath. After talking with Vórimarac he felt himself relax. He closed his eyes and leaned against the tree. Vórimarac looked over and saw Vórimarac sound asleep. He groaned lightly and ran a hand through his hair.  "You're such a pain," he said glaring at Fingon slightly.

When Fingon woke up he was back in his bed. He sat up and rubbed his face. He remembered last night but he knew that he did not go back to his room. He smiled and made a mental note to thank Vórimarac.
