Lost In Memories Part Two - Silmarilion One Shot
Curufin just stared at Celegorm like someone had slapped him. “What?” Curufin asked his voice breaking a bit. “Celegorm. If your joking…oh. Valar please tell me that your joking.” He said.
Celegorm just stared at him and said, “I am not joking. Who are you? Where am I?”
Curufin just looked at him and asked, “You don’t know?”
Celegorm just shook his head and Curufin fell back in his chair. He stared at his brother and then after a moment he pushed himself forward and said, “I’m Curufin...your brother.”
“Oh,” Celegorm said. “Who am I?”
“Your name is Celegorm,” Curufin said.
Celegorm looked at him and opened his mouth then closed it. He looked very confused as he sat there, Curufin stood up slowly and paced the room. He looked at Celegorm who was just sitting there and looking around like a lost puppy. He looked confused, scared, and lost. Yes, he did look like Celegorm physically but everything else about him seemed blank.
“Do you remember what happened to you?” Curufin asked.
Celegorm thought for a few moments and then shook his head. Curufin turned and drew in a sharp breath. He then looked back to Celegorm and asked, “What do you remember?”
Celegorm just sat there and then shook his head. “I don’t know….at least I remember how to talk,” He replied.
“Yeah,” Curufin said softly looking down. He looked at the door as Maglor came in with Meadhros.
"Celegorm!" Said Maglor with relief. "You are awake, thank the valar. How are you doing?"
Celegorm just stared at him blankly. Maglor frowned and his eyes widened as he realized that their brother did not recognize them.
"He can't remember anything," Curufin replied looking at him.
"Nothing?" Maedhros asked.
Curufin nodded and said, "Can't even remember that we are his brothers...or who he is even."
Meadhros looked at Celegorm who just looked at them with a suprising amount of fear. He sighed and walked over. "I'm Meadhros," He said introducing himself.
Celegorm just looked up at him and nodded slightly. Meadhros continued and said, "I'm your oldest brother."
"Oldest? How many siblings do I have?" Celegorm asked a bit wide-eyed.
"Six brothers," Meadhros replied.
"Six?" Celegorm asked in shock.
"Yeah," he replied softly.
"Only brothers? No sister," Celegorm asked.
Meadhros just nodded and they just sat in silence. Meadhros had no idea what to tell him, he looked so different. "Uh. This is Maglor," Meadhros said gesturing to Maglor. "He's one of our brothers."
Maglor waved and walked over. "Hey," He said.
Celegorm just nodded at him and then looked down. Maglor walked over and sat down by his brother. He put a hand on his shoulder, Celegorm tensed very slightly. Maglor removed his hand and just smiled at him. "Don't worry. You'll be okay."
Celegorm just nodded a little bit. Maglor just sighed a little bit and stood up. He signaled to Maedhros for them to step out of the room. They both left and Curufin went back to join his brother.
Once Maglor closed the door he turned to Maedhros and asked, "What are we going to do? He doesn't recognize us at all. He most likely can't remember other things he...Neylo. What if he can't remember the silmarils or the oath? Will it still apply to him? What if he never gets his memory back?"
Meadhros was quiet and just shook his head. "I don't know...perhaps I can write a letter to our uncle. See if he has any ideas."
"Okay." Maglor replied. "What should we do in the meantime?"
"Try to help him get his memory back...but until we have an idea. Do not talk about the oath or the silmaril. Make sure the others know not to." Meadhros said his voice going into the commanding tone he has.
Maglor nodded and walked back into the room. Meadhros went to tell the others what was going on and to start a letter or letters will be the better idea. He first went to look for his brothers. He found Amras and Amrod walking after Caranthir who looked rather annoyed.
He walked over to them and said, "I am not sure what you three are doing and I am not sure I want to know. I came to tell you that Celegorm has woken up."
"Really? How is he?" Asked Amras.
"I do not know. Physically he seems fine and like normal. However, he lost his memory and can not remember anything." He replied.
"What!" Amrod said.
Meadhros nodded and said, "Yes and until we figure some things out so not remind him about the oath or the silmarils."
The twins were about to question it but Caranthir silenced them with a slight glare. He then looked at Meadhros and said, "Alright."
"Try to to visit him and introduce yourselves but just keep things light right now. He dose seem almost scared of us...so...just keep things light." He said. They three nodded and headed off. Meadhros then head to his room.
He sat down and grabbed some paper and a quill. He then began writing:
Dear Uncle Fingolfin,
I do apologize for not writing you this sooner. We were having some trouble here which is why I wrote to you now. Sometime ago Celegorm went missing for a few days. We found him but he remained asleep for weeks. Yet, now he has just woken up and he can not remember a thing. Not his name, not us, not a thing. I ask you what should we do? If he can not remember the oath will it still apply to him?
How can he even keep it if he dose not remember who the Valar or the Silmarils.
As for something more persona, what should I do for him? As well as the others? Celegorm seems frightened and similar to that of a lost child. I am not sure how to react or how to help. What should we do if he can't remember anything again and he becomes someone completely different?
Sincerely, Nelyafinwe.
He finished the letter and sealed it. He did grab another paper though and began another letter to Fingon. He then sealed that one and sent them off with a messager.
He sat down in his chair and rubbed his face. What were they going to do?
