Another Returned - Lord Of The Rings AU
A/n: Remember that idea I had with Ecthelion coming back? Well, here it continues except someone else returns....or two someones.
"Still hate guard duty?" Asked Ecthelion walking over to Glorfindel who was leaning against a wall yawning.
"I don't hate it...I just prefer other things." He said.
"Like a mandatory council meeting that I have to drag you to? Or perhaps Penlod's lecture's to you on taking your responsibilities more seriously." Ecthelion offered. Glorfindel looked at him and glared.
"Why?" He asked. "Why do you do this to me?"
"Just repaying you for dragging me along into your insanity," Ecthelion replied.
"Come on. You enjoyed messing with Egalmoth's wardrobe." Glorfindel said. Ecthelion had to look away and cover his mouth. He then looked back at Glorfindel trying to hold back his laughter as he said, "I have no idea what you are talking about."
"You can not lie to me," Glorfindel said. "Besides. That one was your idea."
Ecthelion just turned his head and said nothing. Glorfindel began giggling as he shook his head. Yet, his laughter stopped as he saw a guard that normally scouted the Rivindell's boarders rush over a look of fear on his face.
"What happened?" Glorfindel asked standing straight becoming the warrior he truly is.
"Orcs...by the edge of our borders." He said in a rush.
Glorfindel nodded and said, "Right. Go tell Elrond about it." He then looked at Ecthelion and said, "Up for a hunt?"
Ecthelion put a hand on the hilt of his sword and said, "Thought you would never ask."
Glorfindel and Ecthelion then moved off to where the elf directed them. They moved quickly through the woods. They slowed their pace as they approached the borders where Orcs where spotted.
Glorfindel ducked behind a tree and Ecthelion stood behind them. The golden-haired elf sighed, "Yep. Orcs...I count about 28."
"Thirty," Ecthelion corrected. "A bit ahead of them-I say, scouts."
"Right. Glorfindel said as he stood up.
"We need a plan," Ecthelion said.
"Right. Don't die...again," Glorfindel said before he drew his sword and moved out quickly. Ecthelion slapped his forehead and groaned. He then moved out and charged with his insane friend.
Glorfindel moved his blade quickly taking on the first few orcs with surprise. He moved to back quickly dodging another attack then slashed his sword forward cutting down that orc. He turned just as an orc ran at him but Ecthelion threw a dagger he had taking the orc down.
"Why do you run into these quick battles like this?" Ecthelion asked as he dodged an attack and attacked the next orc.
"Since they are quick battles. You know it is serious I would make a plan," Glorfindel said taking down the next orc.
"It is serious. It's a battle," Ecthelion said.
"Sure it is," Glorfindel said nonchalantly. Ecthelion groaned and looked to the sky as if it would have some answer for him. It did not.
"For the love Eru! Glorfindel, take your job a bit more seriously," Ecthelion said.
"I would if required it," Glorfindel replied looking at Ecthelion. His friend opened his mouth but he stopped short as an arrow went shooting past him and embedded itself into the head of an orc.
"Still arguing I see," Said a very familiar voice. The two elves turned and Glorfindel's jaw dropped.
Egalmoth smirked and said, "What's this? I got Glorfindel and Ecthelion to be stunned silent. This needs to be recorded."
Glorfindel looked at Egalmoth for a long moment before running forward and tackled Egalmoth in a hug. Egalmoth struggled and said, "Laurefindil! Let go of me right this instant!"
Glorfindel let go after a moment and helped him up. "You're alive!?"
"Of course I am! How else would I be here?" Egalmoth asked as he examined the mud that the tackle got all over his clothes.
"How are you here?" Glorfindel asked.
"In all honesty, I do not know," Egalmoth replied shaking his head. Glorfindel nodded and said, "Well I could bring you to Rivendell, we are already trying to figure out how Ecthelion came back."
Egalmoth nodded and looked to Ecthelion who waved at them. "Well, the orcs are-" Glorfindel began but then was cut off by another arrow that was shot from the tree line and hit an orc was still alive. Glorfindel blinked in surprise and looked at where the arrow was from. His eyes widened, even more, when he saw Duilin.
"Duilin!" He said and charged at him. Duilin jumped out of the way and shook his head. "Will, you ever change Laurefindil?" He asked shaking his head.
"Nope and you have been dead for ages and left me alone," Glorfindel said. "So. Let me be glad you are back and alive."
Duilin opened his mouth and just closed it. Glorfindel was a master of guilt and once Glorfindel saw Duilin just sigh and stand there. The golden-haired elf grinned and almost tackled Duilin in a hug.
Ecthelion chuckled at Duilin's face as Glorfindel was hugging Duilin tightly. He then walked over to Egalmoth and said, "Well. This shall be interesting."
"Indeed," Egalmoth said.
