"Naina..", Sidharth called his sister standing outside her room.
"Yes Bhaiyya..", Naina answered coming out of the room.
"Can you please convince Sana to have her breakfast? She didn't eat anything since yesterday afternoon.", Sidharth requested in a low voice.
"I will Bhaiyya..", Naina nodded and went in.
After few minutes, Naina came out with Sana to have her breakfast. Sidharth and his father, Amar were already seated on the mat and having breakfast. Rekha served seasoned chipped rice (Poha), into two plates and gave it to Sana and Naina.
"Sidharth? I thought you were leaving in the evening?", Rekha enquired while serving him tea.
"Maa, I have some important work back there so I need to go at the earliest.", Sidharth lied, his fingers played on the rim of the glass filled with tea.
"You came home after so many months and you don't have sometime to spend with us now.", His mother complained.
"Maa, Naina's engagement came up all of a sudden so I didn't have much time to plan or give proper notice for a long leave at office. Anyways, the leaves saved now can be utilised as a long leave for Naina's wedding.", Sidharth said. Naina kept her eyes glued to her plate though a little blush appeared on her cheeks.
"What about your wedding, Sidharth? Unfortunately, your engagement couldn't happen. You are 4 years older than your sister, so it's high time for you to get married as well, isn't it?", Asked his father, Amar. Sana's hand froze in her plate which Sidharth noticed through the corner of his eyes. Naina too looked up to observe Sana's reaction. Having realised the gaze on her, Sana continued eating.
"Babuji, let's concentrate on Naina's wedding first. I am yet to settle in my career.", Sidharth said.
"How much longer do we have to wait? We don't want you to cross your marriage age threshold while you are still concentrating on your career. At your age, I was already parenting you.", Amar said.
"Babuji, things have changed. None of the sensible parents would want to get their daughter married to a homeless guy like me. I stay with my friends as a paying guest. Where would I keep her after marriage? I need to atleast having my rented space before I think of settling.", Sidharth argued. Sana smirked while she silently heard their conversation.
"What's the need to work in such a big city. We have our house here. I know it's just two bedrooms but after Naina's marriage, her room can be taken by you and your wife. You can stay here with us.", Amar said.
"What will I do for earning Babuji? For my qualification, I can only get a job in the city. Besides I am also doing part time studies to upgrade my resume. With that, I will have chances of landing in a even better paying job.", Sidharth said.
"What's the use when half of your salary goes in paying rent? Instead you can take a smaller job here and save on rent as well.", Said Amar.
"Babuji, I am aware that you are still paying installments on home loan.", Sidharth said sarcastically.
"Sidharth!! Is this the way you speak with elders?", His mother scolds him.
"Maa, I am sorry but why doesn't anyone here understand my situation. It's either y'all don't really understand or y'all don't love me enough that y'all don't want to understand me at all.", Sidharth said in frustration. His words were for everyone present which included Sana as well.
"I think it's the other way round.", Said his mother.
"If you have someone you like and want to marry then tell us Sidharth..", His father said surprising him.
Sana swallowed an entire chilli without paying attention towards her food. She starts coughing badly along with hiccups.
"Sana, are you alright? Why can't you be careful? Drink some water", Sidharth immediately got up from his seat and ran towards her with a glass of water. Sana moved back to maintain the gap between them before signalling Naina to pass water still coughing.
Sidharth's hand holding the glass was left ignored while Sana gulped the water given by Naina to subside the cough and hiccups. He looked around to find everyone except Sana staring at him which questioned his actions. His cheeks burnt in shame due to embarrassment. He got up silently and left the place.
"Are you alright?", Rekha asked Sana.
"Hmmm..",Sana nodded her head.
.
.
Post breakfast, Sana packed her luggage. Naina kept away from her sight because Sidharth had instructed her to avoid talking to Sana due to her losing the necklace.
Sana contemplated on how she was going to ask Naina to return her necklace. If Naina was a stranger or an unknown person, she would have asked her without hesitation but here she was sister-in-law and were family.
"Sana.. are you ready?", Rekha called her from the living room.
"Yes, aunty.",Sana carried her bag and went out.
"Take a seat for a minute dear", Rekha said to her.
Sana nodded her head and sat on the chair.Rekha applied a little speck of vermilion on her forehead and gave her a gift bag having a new saree as per the tradition.
"What is this aunty?", Sana was stunned.
"Just a small blessing and a gift from me and your uncle since you visited our house for the first time.", Rekha cupping her cheek with one hand.
Sana bent down and touched her feet in respect to seek her blessing. At the same time, Sidharth too bent to touch Rekha's feet to take his mother's blessing. It was just like any married couple would take blessings of their elders. His palm touched the back of Sana's palm. Though Sana froze for a fraction of a second, she immediately succeeded in ignoring him yet again when he stared at her.
"May God bless you both with happiness",Rekha placed her hands over both their heads ushering her blessing.
Sana took Amar's blessing as well. Naina was also present there. Sana gave her a warm hug to say bye. Sana decided to not ask her about necklace infront of her parents. It was anyways bought from her own money so she decided to not tell her parents if Naina never returned it.
"Take care Sidharth. Don't skip your meals and eat well.", Rekha instructs and he nodded.
"Drop her home safe Sidharth. Don't leave her to go alone to her house even if she insists.", His father instructed to which he nodded again.
"Sorry for causing trouble bhaiyya and thank you for helping me. Take care of bhaabhi and reconcile at the earliest.", Naina whispered to Sidharth when he gave her a hug.
"I will. Take care of Maa and Babuji in my absence. Also don't forget to send me the engagement pictures.", he said to which she shook her head in agreement.
Sidharth and Sana bid goodbye to his family before they boarded the auto rickshaw to the railway station. Sana sat at one corner of the rickshaw whereas Sidharth occupied the other. Even the train journey was silent and without much adventure as they sat opposite to each other like a stranger.
When the auto ride back to Sana's home came to end. Sana got down and went into her home directly without saying bye to him.. Yet Sidharth followed her and made sure to talk to her parents.
"So happy to be back. I missed y'all", Sana hugged her parents on arrival.
"How was the function?", Asked her mother.
"Yeah, good!", She answered.
"Where is he?", Asked her father.
She turned her head to find Sidharth walking inside the door and went inside the room directly without uttering anything.
"I just came to drop her.", Sidharth spoke in a low tone finding her cold behaviour infront of her parents. He was still near the door.
"Come in Sidharth. I will make some tea.", Said her mother.
"No aunty, please don't bother.", Sidharth said.
"Is everything alright?", Asked her father.
"Yes uncle. Everything is fine. I will come soon to take my wife back to our home.", Sidharth promised staring at the room door even if her father hadn't spoken anything about it. He was promising her and himself more than anyone at that moment.
Naveen stared at his face trying to study what was going on inside the man who was claiming his daughter to be his wife.
"You will. I trust you", came Naveen's words to motivate him. Sidharth's focus shifted to Naveen's face as he was stunned to hear those words from him.
"I must leave.", Sidharth said moving his eyeballs towards the room anticipating her appearance which never happened.
Disheartened, he left the place giving them a faint smile which was followed by biting his lower lip to control his vulnerable heart from exposing his emotions infront of her parents.
"Didn't he look dull? What's with Sana? She didn't even come out to say bye to him. I should ask her.", Shanti said.
"Don't Shanti.. it's between a husband and wife.", Naveen said.
"Hmmm.. what do you think must have happened over their trip?", Shanti muttered.
"Realisation!! He looks more determined now.", Said Naveen.
"Don't be too harsh on them Naveen", Shanti said to her husband.
"Trust me Shanti, it's for their own good.", Naveen said.

Though they travelled in the same bus, Sana ignored him totally since two weeks. He on the other hand made many failed attempts to grab her attention.
"Deepa..", Sidharth called Deepa, who got down from the bus ahead of him and was now walking with Sana her to her office.
Deepa turned around to look at Sidharth while Sana stood in her trail. He shook his head to gesture her to come near and Deepa obliged excusing Sana.
Sana slightly turned around so that she could look at them through the corner of her eyes though not directly.
Sidharth observed her doing so and a small smile came up his lips. Even though she was ignoring him like a stranger, she still felt the that possessiveness for him. Sana couldn't hear them talk but it took them a while.
"Deepa.. are you coming or should I go alone? We are getting late.", Sana finally spoke loudly.
"Wait!! (To Sidharth) Your wife is in so much hurry even though we have so much time.", Deepa said.
"It's not hurry, it's called possessiveness.. you won't understand!", Sidharth advocated for his wife.
"Hmmm.. I really don't want to as well.. What's got into her that she is ignoring you and now being possessive. Don't you think you did a mistake of choosing her over me?", Deepa joked.
"I am ready to make such mistakes million more times to have her in my life..", he said gawking at her.
"Argghh.. you both are crazy.", Deepa rolled her eyes.
"Deepa, I am going.", Sana yelled irritated making Sidharth chuckle.
"Rrrr.. there goes your possessive wife again.. Crazy couple!! Bye for now..", Deepa ran behind annoyed Sana.
"What's the hurry, Sana?", Deepa panting after a little jog.
"I told you I am getting late. You didn't have to come and could have continue chatting with him.", Sana spoke in frustration.
"Oh yeah! I think I should go back and enjoy his attention. Afterall it's so nice to get your old crush flirt with you.", Deepa sighed.
"What? Was he flirting with you? What did he say?", Sana asked in shock.
"Hmmm.. it's between us but still I think I can tell you a little. Afterall you are my dear friend. He said I am looking gorgeous in this black top. He even praised my new haircut which you didn't notice. And did I tell you that he complimented the colour of my lipstick saying it looked sexy?", Deepa said which made her freeze in her path.
"Huh? What happened? Didn't you say you were getting late?", Deepa asked.
Sana's eyes were tearing up already and Deepa instantly repented pulling her friends leg.
"Hey Sana.. You are crying? I am sorry. Please don't cry. He didn't say any of my statement.", Deepa said immediately.
"You are lying..", Sana said.
"No, I am not now. But I was lying earlier. He is totally whipped in your love. Do you really expect him to say any of it for me? For God's sake, he isn't your boyfriend but your husband..", Deepa explained.
"Then why did he call you and what were you both talking for so long?", Sana enquired.
"He was so true in calling you possessive.. Well he called me to give this to give it to you.", Deepa said giving her an emvelop.
"What is it?", Sana asked taking the envelop
"Your necklace which you forgot to take from his sister, Naina. Naina sent it to him via registered post it seems.", Deepa explained.
"Oh!! Okay! Thanks", Sana said keeping the envelop in her handbag. They both proceeded to their office in silence.
Just before they went to their respective desk, Sana called her.
"Deepa.. he surely didn't say any of those sentences right?", Sana asked.
"What sentences?", Deepa asked clueless and confused.
"Those praises about your hair and lips?", Sana asked.
"Argghhh.. I repent signing the witness space in your marriage resgister. You shouldn't marry, if you don't trust each other.", Deepa cried in irritation.
"I trust him but I felt probably the differnces and distances between us could have led him to drift away from me..", Sana said.
"No Sana.. he said he would marry you a million times to keep you in his life.", Said Deepa.
Sana smiled while her cheeks turned scarlet.
"Crazy couple", Deepa sighed.
