Y/n's POV
My eyes slowly open from what feels like a long slumber, only it wasn't in my bedroom that I woke up. Nor was I wearing something I'd normally wear. Nothing but a thin red fabric that wrapped around my chest and a short yet flowy skirt of the same color. My first thought was, "Did someone kidnap me?!" I closed my eyes as panic rose in my throat and blocked my airway, causing me to hyperventilate.
"No, no Y/n, you gotta stay strong in case your kidnapper comes back. Get it together!" After several minutes had passed by, I managed to calm myself down from the miniature panic attack. But as soon as I opened my eyes and realized where I was, another one gripped my body with full force.
The first thing I noticed now that I didn't before was the heat, hotter than a thousand furnaces. As I looked around me, I could see a dark red glow cast on everything by the multiple rivers of molten red lava, as if I was looking through a ruby. The ground I was standing on was pitch black and almost looked like coal, as if this place was intended to bake everyone in it alive. And most noticeable of all were the screams. Even if I closed my ears I could still hear the cries and pleas of millions upon millions.
Timidly, I started walking without a shadow of a clue on where I was going. Eventually, I spotted some figures in the distance. As I got closer, they each looked like my idol Michael Jackson from different eras, shirtless and wearing dark red leather pants but each had a red skin tone. I was extremely confused by this but still felt a sigh of relief reverberate throughout my being upon seeing a familiar face. However, it was immediately replaced with fear as I saw the look each of them gave me.
I felt frozen in place as the six devil Michaels made their way towards me, surrounding me in a circle. Each of them stood well over seven feet, their frightening horns and tails making me feel insignificant. But what struck the most terror into my heart was the look of pure lust smeared across their faces. Normally, I would love to be in this situation with all the eras lusting after me. But since I'm literally in Hell, I have no idea what they really had in store for me.
"Well, look what we have here," the one that resembled Michael's Bad era remarked in a deep, booming voice.
"Some fresh meat, and not just to eat," Blood on the Dance Floor said while looking me up and down, licking his lips.
Thriller grabbed my hair and pulled my head back, exposing my neck as he leaned down and took a deep inhale of my scent. "Oh she's fresh alright." His breathing increased and he let out a low growl as I felt his junior grow.
HIStory smirked. "I say we find out just how fresh she really is."
I wanted to run away from them as far as I could, but it was no use. Two of them grabbed my arms and hoisted me into the air, the others following suit as they forcefully brought me to a stone castle–looking structure. Throwing me near the entrance, they each landed to form a circle around me, their smirks growing larger as dirty thoughts of what they had planned for me filled their heads. A single tear rolled down my face as I realized there was no one to help and all I could do was take everything they gave me.
"Hey! What are you fuckheads doing?" I turned my head to the source of the voice and found the devil version of This Is It striding towards us. He too was red, shirtless, and sported a pair of red leather pants. But unlike the others, his facial expressions read that of anger.
"Hey uh, we weren't doing much. Just showing this newcomer what it's like down here." Bad said.
"And you expect me to believe that like a dumb fuck?"
"Hey, now I get that you're in charge and all, but can't you let us have some fun–"
"If I hear one more peep outa you, I'm cutting all your dicks off again. Now get outa here"
The devil Michaels all grumbled but eventually left, leaving me and This Is It alone. Which, after my previous encounter with the others, I wasn't too thrilled about.
"Hey, are you okay?"
"Um, yeah. J–Just shaken I guess."
"Here, let me help you." He knelt down by my side and helped me stand up. I still felt rather sore from when they threw me to the ground, and I almost immediately collapsed again if it wasn't for his firm hands holding me up.
I felt one arm underneath the back of my knees and the other around my waist as he picked me up and carried me into the castle. The large front doors opened and closed automatically for him as he walked through and set me down on his sofa before sitting next to me.
"So, I'm guessing you have a whole lot of questions right now."
I shyly nodded, still a bit timid around him.
"How about this. I'll explain everything to you and if you have any questions after that you can ask me. Deal?"
Once again, I just nodded.
"Okay. So first things first, you aren't staying here forever. I got word from the big man up above that you're actually destined for Heaven but had to send you here since they're behind on getting people in for a reason he constantly refuses to tell. So think of this place as a temporary lobby before it's your turn to go. In my opinion though, this is a shitty idea as even they know many of the people they put 'on hold' down here are forced to stay down here by the demons." This Is It makes a disgusted face before he resumes.
"Now, with that being said, I don't know when they'll finally let you in so you're unfortunately gonna have to stay here until then. You're more than free to roam around the castle, but I would recommend you don't go outside unless you want an encounter similar to the one you just experienced."
This Is It brought his hand up to his face in thought for a moment before speaking again. "That's all I have right now. Is there anything else you'd like to know?"
There were still questions swirling around my mind, the most prominent of them being, "How did I die?"
A sad expression clouded This Is It's face as he sighed and looked down. "I was hoping you wouldn't ask that."
"Why? Is it gruesome or something?"
"Well..." He took a deep breath before continuing. "When you were with your siblings, they were yet again taunting you and kept throwing stones at you. But as usual, you ignored them and walked on which angered them. Then one of them threw a large stone with a lot of force, striking your head and eventually causing you to bleed to death. They then lied to your parents that you tripped and fell on the rock. And that's how you ended up here."
I struggled to hold back tears as I realized my worst nightmare had come true. When This Is It placed his hand on my shoulder, I climbed onto his lap and bawled my eyes out on his chest. Every emotion I had ever felt came out in a waterfall of tears at the realization that my siblings had finally gotten what they wanted. I felt This Is It wrap one hand around my waist and the other on top of my head, gently stroking my hair as I cried my heart out.
When my body could no longer produce any more tears, I removed my head from This Is It's chest. Sniffling, I wiped my tears from my eyes. "Th–Thank you Michael."
This Is It chuckled. "That's not my name actually."
"Oh, right. Sorry."
He smiled. "That's okay. I was wondering who I look like to you anyways."
"Um, please don't make fun of me for this, but......you look like Michael Jackson to me. His This Is It era specifically."
He gave me a knowing smile. "Ah, I see."
"Um, I still have a few more questions. What did you mean by you were curious to know who you looked like to me?"
"Well, many of us demons have this power where the human looking at us will see the face of the person the love the most or feel the closest to. A vast majority of them use this power of theirs to manipulate the human into doing anything they want them to do, like the ones you first encountered. Extremely few demons, like me for example, use this power for comfort or really anything other than gruesome reasons."
"Oh. And who exactly are you anyways?"
"You can think of me as Satan's right–hand devil. Although, even though I'm high ranking, there really isn't much for me to do on a normal basis surprisingly. Which is why I have tasked myself with being, what I like to call, 'Heaven's receptionist'."
We both laughed at this silly title of his. As our laughter died down, I hugged him again.
"What's this for?" he asked.
"For being so kind to me. It's really been so long since anyone has truly cared about me."
I could feel his smile as he returned the embrace. "Do you wanna explore the place while you're here?"
I looked up at him and shook my head. "I'd rather stay like this if you don't mind."
He smiled and kissed my forehead before pulling me back into his warm embrace.
