Chapter 19: The Wizards.

Song: Sail Unlimited Gravity Remix
~~~~~
Jordan's p.o.v.
"Uh Sonja? You home?"
"Go the hell away!" I heard her growl through the door. I sighed. This is gonna be hard.
"I'm your friend. Just listen to me. Can I please come in?"
"No."
"Sonja..."
"I said no! Go away Jordan!"
"I know you want to let out your anger. Let your anger out on me. I don't mind." If it made her happy again, I wouldn't mind at all. Seeing her cry made me feel guilty for some reason, even though I wasn't the one who signed a contract with Mianite.
The door swung open and a hand jerked the hem of my shirt, pulling me into the house with ungodly strength.
I was slammed against the wall and I felt nails dig into my shoulders as the hands pinned me.
The wrath of Sonja was way worse than any gods wrath. I could practically see flames in her eyes as she glared at me with pure hatred.
"ALL YOU EVER DO IS HURT ME AND LIE! IM SICK OF IT! IM SICK OF YOU! I JUST WANT...I just want you to be my Tucker again...I miss you..." She broke out into tears and started hugging me. I didn't know what to do. Do I hug her or run away? A second ago it looked like she was about to murder me.
"I-It's okay." I patted her back awkwardly as she sobbed into my chest. My mind was screaming at me to run. This has happened before. I don't want to go through it again.
"No it's not! I hate you..." She weakly punched my chest, and it barely even hurt me. "But I love you..." She cried and squeezed me so hard I nearly threw up.
She's obviously not in a mood to negotiate the terms she gave to Tucker. I need to go about this another way. Maybe if she sees how much she misses Tucker, she'll ease up on the terms.
"M-Maybe you should date someone else?" I wheezed out while she choked me.
Her eyes widened at the idea. "What?! How could you even say that?! I love him! I would never date anyone besides him!"
"Sonja, things aren't gonna get any better if he doesn't learn his lesson. You need to show him that you aren't a push over and you'll date other guys if he won't be good to you."
"Who would even date me? Everyone already has someone else..." She released my odd from her death grip and crawled up onto her couch with her head tucked between her knees.
"Um, how about the one of the wizard guys? I mean...didn't you use to hang out with them?" I remembered a long time ago when I first came to her house. Anvils were scattered all across her lawn and on top of her roof, and she said that the wizards did it.
I however, have had only seen the wizards once since I'd been here, and even then I didn't see their faces or what they looked like at all. It was a few months back when Tucker had a huge party and invited everyone. I'm pretty sure Wag has seen them a lot and I remember Tom saying something about seeing one of them during a purge, but that was it. I don't even know their names.
"Yeah...I used to hang out with Phil..." A small smile formed on her lips.
"Then ask Phil out on a date."
Her face flushed. "No! He's...I don't know...what if he says no?"
"You won't know until you ask. Come on, I'll go with you."
"Fine..." She finally agreed.
"Okay. You lead the way. I don't have a clue where they live."
"I can't do it! I'm going back home!" Sonja turned to run, but I pulled her back to the door before she could get away.
"You can and you will. Press the button, Sonja." I nudged her towards the door bell.
She stared at it for a good two minutes before finally pressing it quickly and retreating behind me.
"I don't get why you're so scared. What's so bad about Phil?" Phil doesn't seem like an intimidating name. It sounded boring.
My question was answered when the large wooden doors swung open slowly and a tall figure stood in the frame.
Phil was hot. Like, if I could be gay for anyone else besides Tom, this guy would be that person. Not only was he tall, broad, muscled, and ripped, but he was also handsome and heart stoppingly beautiful. If that's even a word. He had chestnut brown hair that was curly, his eyes were a pale blue color and his eye brows perfectly shaped. Was this guy a wizard or an angel?
"Oh hello there. Can I help you with something?" He flashed me a small smile. That small gesture alone made me blush and I had to think for a few seconds about what I had wanted to say originally. I couldn't even remember my name! Jeez, I'm with someone else for gods sake and I'm drooling over this guy like he's a chocolate bar.
"Uh...Sonja wanted to say something..." I scurried behind Sonja and shoved her towards Phil. She squeaked and tried to back away, but I wouldn't let her.
"Hi..." She waved awkwardly. Phil just gave her a warm chuckle and an even bigger smile.
"Hello Sonja. Care to tell me what you came here for?" He raised an eyebrow, still smiling away. No wonder she was nervous! He was perfect in every way! Who wouldn't be intimidated by a hot guy?
"Would you wanna maybe possibly...go on a date with me?" She stared at her feet the whole time.
Phil looked overjoyed. "I would love to! I mean...yeah sure. But um, what's happened to your previous boyfriend Jericho? I wouldn't want him getting angry with me."
I watched her slump her shoulders. "I dumped him because he called me worthless and a bitch."
"Oh dear. That was rude. You deserve far more care than that. Are you okay?" He put a gentle hand on her arm and stared deeply into her eyes. This guy is freaking Romeo.
"I'm fine..." She sighed.
"Well, are you sure it's a good idea to be dating when you just got out of a relationship? I don't want to rush you into anything."
She rolled her eyes at him. "Phil. Stop being weird. Be Phil."
"Sorry. I'm just trying to be a gentlemen. Matt says I have no manners. I slapped him for it." He laughed, and I swear to god he sounded like an angel.
Stop drooling! You have Tom!
"I don't care about manners. Let's just go on a date and be ourselves."
"Alright. Let go get drunk and party!" He cheered, but in the middle of his sentence his voice cracked and he no longer sounded like a beautiful angel, but a teenage boy going through puberty. It made Sonja laugh and he only blushed. "Oh shush. I can't help my curse of forever sounding like pubescent child." His cheeks reddened even more.
"You don't sound like a pubescent child, Phil. You sound like a seven year old on helium." I heard a British voice chuckle from inside.
"Shut up! I will bruise your other cheek!" Phil shouted back into the tower. That must be Matt then.
"You couldn't bruise an apple if you dropped it from a plane." Another British voice chimed in. A duo of laughter followed and Phil's entire face was completely pink.
"I hate the both of you." He grumbled under his breath.
"We hate you too Philly!" A chorus of voices sang.
"We gonna go on this date and touch butts or are you gonna kill your roommates and hide the bodies? I mean, I'm up for whatever. Butts or bodies." Sonja shrugged.
"As much as I'd love to kill them, I prefer going on a date with a beautiful girl. Something that my dear roommates will never ever be able to have." He spoke the last sentence louder so Matt and the other wizard could hear.
"Whatever, I'll just court that mop you make love to every night. Have a nice date!"
Phil's face was now a crimson shade of red. "Please excuse me for a moment." He hurried inside, fists clenched and jaw locked. A few moments later we heard high pitched screaming and shouts of 'Not the hat! Not the hat Phil!'
Sonja quietly snickered and sneaked inside, tiptoeing so she could spy in them in silence. I followed her in, mostly because the rest of their neighborhood looked so amazing and beautiful and I wanted to see what they'd done to their tower. As soon as we were in, Sonja went into stealth mode. Her pointed feet were way more soft and silent and graceful on the ground than mine, which was similar to a gorillas steps. Every so often she sent me a glare and put a finger to her lips, as to say 'shut the hell up.'
We heard their voices getting louder and louder with each step. It wasn't until I looked up that I realized that their tower was huge. It was made completely of stone brick. Most of the bricks were grey and some were blue and white. They made perfectly aligned patterns all across the wall, making the place seem more homey than empty. The floors were covered by thick red carpet that felt almost sand-like when I stepped on it. The walls were covered with memos, I assumed. There were old looking swords, old pages with fancy writing on them, portraits that showed men and women that I didn't recognize.
What really caught my eye was the windows, white stained windows with pictures shown on them. Some showed violent bloody images, others showed happy bright and beautiful ones. They had to be someone's memories. They showed too much detail not to be.
Sonja took a moment to pause and look around the corner, which gave me time to study the windows closer. I examined one of the more violent ones. Bloody bodies spread across a field of brown looking grass. Swords or other sharp objects were stabbed in various places of their bodies. There were only six figures in the glass that seemed alive. Three of them wore dark hoods with their faces unseen, and the other three on the opposite side of the brown grass...they looked familiar. One wore a robe of white, a grass veil sat upon his white hair, a silver sword clutched in his right hand. Another wore grey clothing, horns sticking from his obsidian black hair, a black sword in his left hand. A lady stood in the middle of the two. She wore a purple dress and wielded a bow in her both hands, her flame-like purple hair flowing in the wind. The three gods. So if they were the gods, who were the other three in the robes? And why were they on different sides?
When I turned back to show Sonja, she was gone. She probably left me behind to explore the rest of the tower while Phil chased after his brothers. Oh well. I wanted to look more at the death windows anyway.
Still contemplating the three anonymous figures, I switched my eyes to the window beside that one. This one was less violent, but it made me feel weird. Scared, even. And it wasn't even that scary. It was just a guy in a grey and black cloak, staring directly ahead with a huge sword in his hand. Okay so maybe it was a bit scary. He sort of looked like Wag, but he wore a different cloak and you couldn't even see his mouth or his nose or his eyes. Nothing. This stuff is confusing me.
"You know trespassers, especially if they're mortals, aren't allowed in this tower, right?"
It didn't sound like Phil or Matt. I knew their voices. I didn't know this guys. I just froze and remained staring at the glass. What else could I have done?
"And I could smite you where you stand right this second?"
My heart leaped. "No! Please, I'm just- I came in with my friend and she-"
"Oh relax. I know who you are, and I'm not going to kill you Sparklez." Hands turned me around by my shoulders, and I came face to face with yet another sexy and beautiful man.
This guy was a foot shorter than Phil, so he was about my height. He had short blue hair and light blue eyes, and the way his lips were pulled up in a knowing smirk made me feel like I was gonna melt onto the carpet. Why are all of these wizard so good looking?!
He wasn't wearing a tight shirt and old jeans like Phil had. He was wearing a black cloak with light blue trimming all around the sleeves and the hood, making his glowing blue eyes stand out immensely. His skin was a greyish black, similar to Wags skin. He looked like he was levitating almost, and then I realized he actually was. He chuckled when he saw my reaction to his appearance.
"I like to dress differently from my brothers. I hope my looks don't distract you too much. That would be dreadful." He smiled an inch wider and out a finger underneath my chin, lifting my eyes up to meet his. I had to squint when I did, because oh my god his eyes were like staring at two blue suns. They were so bright.
"Tom, he has a partner. Stop raping him, you pedophile." I heard a voice joke from the corner. I angled my head slightly see yet another wizard. He looked really really different from the other two, but still equally as good looking. I couldn't see his face, because he was wearing some kind of mask over it. It looked like an owl or some kind of animal that had feathers and teeth. I didn't know what the heck it was. Whatever it was, it had glowing yellow eyes that were directly looking at me. He was wearing some kind of armor, it was brown and rusty looking like he hadn't taken it off in ages. Combat boots were the only thing on him that wasn't armor besides the mask.
"Are you kidding? Why didn't you tell me that before I flirted with the poor man?" Tom, I think was his name, said back to Matt with annoyance in his tone. Now I know three Toms. Great.
"Well I didn't care to think you would be flirting with him as soon as he arrived. You really are desperate aren't you?" He laughed. Tom just rolled his eyes and turned back to me, removing his hand from my chin.
"My apologies. I didn't know that you had a partner. I hope I didn't scare you too much?" He laughed awkwardly.
"N-No it's fine. Um, so are you gay? I didn't think wizards were into that kind of stuff..."
Matt groaned and shook his head. "You humans and your silly made up worries. We wizards don't recognize genders or sexual preference. If you're cute enough, man or woman, we will go after you with our love. It doesn't matter what parts you have. If you love someone, then you love them. That's that. I'm going to go hide in the bar now. Phil is still very angry that I asked his mop to be mine." He snickered and headed towards the exit, where me and Sonja had snuck in.
"Wait...wizards don't have sexualities? No types? Nothing?" I asked in disbelief.
"No. We never have. And humans have always preferred the more complicated way: one gender and that's it. It confuses us all. Why have just one type when you can have all of the types?" He shrugged.
"That's amazing..." I muttered. It must be so nice to be able to choose whatever person you want, no matter what or who they are.
"Yes, but as much as I love entertaining you humans with our simple card tricks, I cannot allow you to be in here any longer. We wizards must keep our secrets hidden inside of us. Inside of our home. Please leave." He began to shoo me away, but I wasn't ready to go yet. I wanted to know about the windows.
"Wait! Can you do something for me before I have to leave? Please?"
"As long as it doesn't include murder or things that could harm your frail mortal body, then sure. Why not."
"The windows. What are they? Memories? Or just paintings?" I pointed at the window with the gods on it, and Tom shifted his eyes to it in boredness.
"Those old things? They were built here so we wouldn't forget."
"Forget about what? Tell me."
"Mortals...so curious." He chuckled. "Long ago, many terrible things happened between us and the gods. We fought for days on end, weeks, months, years. At the time...There were many wizards. But they weren't nice to you humans as we are. They were cruel. Power hungry. They cared only of themselves. The gods stepped in one day, the morning after the wizards slew hundreds of humans. They fought. And fought. And fought. And finally, after years of fighting and endless deaths and constant war, the wizards were beaten. Because some of their clan realized that war and death is wrong, so they betrayed their own blood and joined the gods. And they won. But there were the only six remaining after the war with power left to fix the world. Together, they built it back again. Little by little." He smiled warmly at the window.
"...were you one of those six?" I asked.
"Yes. We were all so young...The only reason we all survived was because of our friends, who also betrayed our own blood, put our lives before theirs. I will never forget them all. Even five thousand years later, I still think of them every day."
That was so...depressing. All of those wizards and there was only three of them left. Phil, Matt, and Tom.
"However...each glass window has a different reminder and a different story. I could spend days saying them all. I've lived through all of them but a few."
"Can I ask who that is?" I pointed to the glass with the creepy scary guy on it.
Toms smile vanished. "He is not to be spoken of. He is an evil curse that lurks the universe without being seen, plaguing minds and causing many to go insane. We don't speak of him. Ever. For fear he might return back one day..." He stared at the glass with hatred.
"So you can't give me a name? Like a nick name or something?"
"Some refer to him as World Historian. He wrote journals of tales as he grew old. Some still reside in the library in Urulu, but most were destroyed. He is an evil being. We are reminded by this glass to keep our guard up. He will return again. He always does."
"I'm sorry I asked..." I made things mega awkward.
"It's fine. Im sorry I got so worked up over some old memories. The present is bright. I shouldn't dwell in the dark. Let's go find Sonja and Phil, shall we?"
