Chapter 57: Observation Bot.

Jordan's P.o.v.

Sometime during the night, I had fallen asleep.
And when I woke up, I nearly had a heart attack.

The goggles were in my room. Next to my bed. Next to me.
The purple lenses stared deeply into my eyes, as if calculating something.

My breath had stopped in my throat, a burning sensation made it's way to my chest. If there was one thing I was absolutely terrified of, it was the unknown.
I heard snoring beside me, Tom was here.
I didn't break eye contact as I began to yell for him.

"TOM! TOM ITS IN OUR ROOM! WAKE UP!" I screamed.

The goggles immediately dissolved into the air, and I felt the bed jolt as Tom jumped up in shock and worry.
"WHAT?! WHAT IS?!" He gripped my hand tightly and looked into my eyes.

"The bot...it was just here...I don't-I don't understand...Tom it was here! Right next to me!" I pointed at the space where it had been. I sounded crazy, but I had been truly petrified at the thing.

Something was stalking me. But I didn't know what it was.

Fear tightened in my chest and I moved closer to Tom. I didn't feel safe anymore, even in my own home.
"Sparklez...I really hope you're just pranking me right now. There is literally nothing here. You woke me up, at eight in the morning, and there is nothing here. I'm going back to bed," he announced, and began to pull the thin blanket back over himself. I didn't want him to go back to sleep. What if the bot came again?

"No! Please don't, please stay awake with me. I know you don't believe me, but this thing is really scaring me. Please," I asked him. I don't want to be alone with that thing again.

His annoyed expression softened, he could see how scared I was right now.
"I don't know if you've lost your mind or your just messing with me, but fine. Come here, scaredy Sparklez," he laughed and held open his hands. I gladly went into them and scooted away from the spot where the bot had been.
A beeping sound emitted from Toms pocket and I nearly jumped out of my skin. Tom laughed at my behavior and pulled out his communicator.
"Steve says the wedding is tomorrow. They really are in a hurry aren't they?"
"Yeah, it's cute." My mind was still wandering about the bot.

I wonder if Ianite had seen it...

'She did not, but I did. Creepy little thing, isn't it?' Dianites voice interrupted my thoughts.

Then tell Tom that it's real!

'Id rather not, I'm not too fond of this new Mot. I'm sure your goddess will see the bot soon enough, then she will be able to explain. For now I am as good as useless to this situation. Goodbye now!' His voice faded.

Stubborn...

'What was that glitter lap?' His voice intervened.
I gulped and my throat tightened.

Nothing, I answered.

'Thats what I thought.' He left again.

"Sparklez? Hello? Are you feeling okay?" Tom snapped his fingers in front of my face and I flinched out of my thoughts.

"Sorry...talking to myself."

"Yeah...you're acting weird. Why don't we go outside? You look like you need sunlight..."

"That would be great. Let me tell guard Tom where we're going first so he doesn't freak out. Be right back," I stepped out of bed and went out the door to the staircase.

I reached Toms room in a few moments and opened his door. I peeked my head inside.
"Me and Tom are gonna go out for a bit, just gonna let you know. Woah! This place looks nice!"
Guard Toms room was totally opposite of mine. Every wall was lined with photos, the floor was covered in colorful rugs, and his bed didn't look like something you'd see in a barn. He had a huge desk pushed into the corners of the room, and a small toad sat on top of it. Shelves lined up on one side of the wall and on each shelf laid books of every kind.
Guard Tom sat the small chair behind his desk, an owl perched up on his shoulder. The owl was asleep, but Tom seems wide awake. He smiled at my comment.

"I'm glad you like it Captain! I may have made a few little friends while searching for supplies, I do hope you don't mind. I didn't wish to bring them with me, but they would not leave my side," he laughed and petted the little owl on the head.

The owls eyes fluttered open, and it gently snuggled into Toms neck. It was adorable.

"I don't mind at all dude, as long as you clean up after them. What's their names?"

"The owl...perhaps Aura. She radiates a beautiful aura! And the toad...I would like to name him Tod. It's a very nice name."
I nearly laughed at the suggestion of Tod, but remained silent with a grin on my face.

"Pretty cool names. Welp, I'll be off now. See ya later!"

"Have a wondrous day captain!" Guard Tom waved.

I walked outside to see my Tom waiting for me on the front of the hill, fiddling with his communicator. He looked up as he heard my footsteps.
"Bad news, can't spend the day with you...I gotta take care of some wedding stuff with Steve. You think you'll be okay on your own? You were acting kinda terrified a while ago," he asked worried.

I didn't want to be left alone. I was terrified.

"Yeah sure, I'll be fine." I hope that was believable.

"Alright...I love you. I'll see you later," he kissed my cheek and turned around to fly off.

I watched his figure disappear in the distance.
I suddenly felt like I was being watched.
I didn't want to turn around, I knew they were there.
So I did the reasonable thing.

And I ran away.

I flew off into the direction of Wags house. I was not going to be alone for the rest of the day.
When I reached his wizard tower, I banged on the door as fast as I could.
The feeling was still there. That something was watching me.
The door opened and Wags hooded face appeared.

"Oh hello Sparklez, what are you doing here?"
I wanted to tell him about the bot. But I wasn't sure he'd believe me, since Tom hadn't.

"Long story, can I come in?"

"Sure, but may-....what the hell is that?" He pointed past me, and I turned to look.

The goggles were centimeters away from my face. I screamed and fell backwards, into Wag.
We both tumbled to the floor, and I felt my glasses fly off of my face.
I sat up quickly and looked up, but the bot had vanished again.
But Wag had seen it. I wasn't crazy. It was real.

"I'm going to guess that you have no idea what that is either, correct?" Wag asked while he stood and brushed his cloak off.

"It's been following me around all day! I woke up this morning and it was in my room, staring at me! It could have killed me...I have no idea what it is. But you saw it! Didn't you?!" I was so happy someone had seen it.

"Yes, why? Can no one else see it?" He closed the door and locked it, attempting to keep the bot away.

"Tom wouldn't believe me...but he didn't necessarily see it. It disappears before he does. I'm so glad someone saw it...I was starting to think I had lost my mind too."

"Whatever it is, it needs to go. You're obviously petrified of this thing. Have you tried speaking to it?"

"It's a pair of goggles, Wag. It can't speak!"

"What if it can? We should at least try. I'm sure it knows some sort of communication. What do most robots speak? Hmm..." He put his hand underneath his chin as he thought.

"Um...binary code?" I asked. I had only seen it on movies, but it was worth a try I guess.

"That could work. Although I do not speak it. Do you dabble in the code language?"

"I know a little about it. I doubt this is gonna work though, I feel like the thing would just kill us."

"Nonsense, it would have already if that was its mission. It must be after something and we should try to figure it out."

"Okay. How do we get it to come back?"

"Not sure. I'm sure it will come to us soon though. It followed you here, didn't it?" He walked over to his window and peeked through the shades.

"Yeah. It scared the crap out of me..."

"Where is Tom? He needs to see the thing when it reappears."

"He left to go take care of wedding stuff with Steve. I think he's the best man or something."

"Oh, I heard Martha and he were getting married. Are you attending the wedding?"

"I guess I have to. I don't really know how they are going to set up a wedding in a day, but go figure."
I sat down on the soft leather couch and sank into its pillows.

"Are you forgetting Martha's mother is a goddess?" Wag laughed and plopped down next to me.

"Oh yeah. That makes more sense. I just wonder what the big emergency was, Tom seemed pretty worried about it."

"Not sure, maybe they-...it's here," Wag pointed towards the kitchen area, and floating high in the air were the mysterious goggles.

It was staring at us. And I began to feel majorly uncomfortable.

"Go on, speak to it. Maybe it will respond back." Wag nudged me to stand up.

I stood slowly and approached the bot at a safe distance.
I looked up to its blank purple lenses and took in a deep breath.

"Uh...hi."

Wow I'm stupid.

The bot said nothing.
What are some greeting binary codes...

I spoke in the pattern of ones and zeros in a certain form of greeting, and waited to see if the bot would recognize the launguage.

The bot cocked it head, and responded back.

In binary code.

I listened closely as it said the particular numbers, and then hagan to form them in my head.

It had said, 'I OBSERVE.'

That's not creepy at all...
I responded back in the code words, 'what do you observe?'

'I RECORD,' it answered.

'Why are you recording this?'

'I DESTROY.'
My heart froze and my body stood glued to my spot. I destroy...oh my god.
I started to stumble back, and it spat out more codes.

'KIDDING.'

I sighed in relief. Maybe this bot wasn't evil...it did tell a joke...

"What? What's it saying?" Wag whispered.

"It said 'I observe, I record, I destroy, kidding.' I guess it's friendly..." I continued to stare at the floating pair of goggles.

Then it dissolved in the air. And I was left with even more confusion. Why is it here? Why is it recording us?

"That's odd...I wonder if any of the others have seen this thing?" Wag stood from his couch and walked over to my spot.

"Doubtful. No ones mentioned anything about it, and I just saw it yesterday. I think it's new or something."

My communicator beeped, and the message was from Tom.

'At home. Where r u?'

'Wags. He sees the bot too.'

He didn't respond back, but I knew he saw it. He refused to believe me.
I sighed sadly and turned off the communicator.

"What wrong? Tom working overtime?" Wag joked.

"He won't believe me...how can he not even believe his fiancé-...I mean...crap," I didn't mean for that to be said. I face palmed myself and groaned loudly.

"Fiancé? What are you talking about?" Wag smiled devilishly at me. He knew...great.

"Tom sorta...proposed."

"Oh? And when did this take place?" His voice was sly and menacing.
"Er- two days ago?" I kicked at the floor nervously.

"And you were attempting to keep this a secret? You didn't do a very good job Jordan. When is this wedding? Hm?"

"Stop being all sly about it. I was just trying to wait until Steve and Martha got married, so we wouldn't take away the specialness of their wedding. So now that you know, you're probably gonna tell everyone about it, aren't you?" Wag was a bit of a rumor spreader.

Wags expression softened and he chuckled. "I won't tell anyone if you don't wish me to. I'm very surprised you accepted, you usually aren't about commitment. Marriage? That's the biggest one of them all," he smiled a crooked grin. He was trying to make me nervous, and he was succeeding.

"Don't remind me...just talking about vows and stuff made me feel like I was going to puke. Tom said he'd let me out if them if I let him wear a dress....that's going to be a beautiful sight," I rolled my eyes.

"Well, I promise not to tell a soul. Good luck with your marriage...I'm sure it will last forever..." He grinned evilly.
I cringed at the words, curse my awkwardness...
Wag headed towards the door and I followed. I wonder if I'd have an argument with Tom when I got home. Most likely.
~
My wings began to close in as I reached my towers, Tom was perched up on the balcony of my room.
I landed on top of the the thing and my wings placed themselves against my back, resting until the next flight.

"Hi." I walked over to him. He was leaning over the stone balcony, looking out at the sunset.

He looked...sad.

"What's wrong? You look upset. Are you okay?"

"When I went over to Steves...I met up with the modesteps. And Champ along with Nade. Apparently they hadn't left with the others." His voice sounded icy and bitter.

"Okay...what's wrong with that?"

"Sparklez...they didn't know I was...like that. And when I told them..." His voice wavered and he shook his head at the thought.

"Like what? What do you mean?" I was confused.

His fist were on top of the look out, clenched and white. He was gritting his teeth like he was trying to break them. He was angry, terrifyingly angry.

"Tom? Come on, tell me. It'll be okay," I lightly touched his shoulder. He flinched at my touch and stepped away a little.

That hurt.

"Okay...I'll just leave you alone then..." I turned away from him and slid back the glass doors, when he blurted it out.

"I told them I was gay. And that I was with you...they...they laughed in my face. They thought it was a joke. And I laughed too...but then I told them I was serious. And they just...they're my friends Sparklez...and they were just like...'you can't be serious dude, you're straight as an arrow.' They just acted disgusted...they don't even understand..."

He sniffled and buried his head into his arms. His own Dianite followers hadn't accepted him...that's gotta hurt.
I walked over to him and wrapped an arm protectively over his form. I guided him back into my room and we laid down on the bed. I dragged his quilt over us and I wrapped him up in my arms. I wanted to kill them for making him so upset.

Why would they reject him like that?

'Not everyone understands love...you need not worry about it Jordan...' Ianites voice entered my head.

Wow. It's been awhile since I've heard from you.

'I apologize for that. I've been extremely busy with Martha...oh Jordan you should have been there. I wanted to smite those boys for what they said to poor Thomas...he hadn't seen them in weeks, and they said those terrible things to him...' Her voice sounded sad and angry at the same time.

Wait, were you there?

'Yes, We were all at Steves home. I was helping Martha sew her dress, and Thomas and Steve were practicing vows and such. The boys came from far off, they had built some sort of underground base. They reunited happily, but it didn't last long after they found that he was...you know. He was devastated.'

Why would they do that to him?

'They don't understand, my dear follower, that love is interpreted in many ways. So foolish...I get so angered at the thought. Comfort him, he needs it dearly.' Her voice disappeared.
I could feel tears soaking through my shirt. His hands tightened around me as he cried.

I'd get them for this. No one made my Tom cry.

No one.
