Chapter 17: It's Too Late.

The next day, I felt like a different person.
I acted like a different person.
I think I was actually becoming a different person.

I also think Tom was very worried about my persona changing.
When I woke up that morning I immediately put on my armor, soul bounded my weapons, and began to make plans.

My plan was to blow up parts of the town that showed significance of injustice. That included the courthouse, the kings throne, and the ships. I was done being peaceful and polite. I needed to now be rutheless and cruel, much like Tom was when he was angry.

"So what are you planning on doing?" He asked me while I was crafting the TnT.

"Blow up anything that's proved to be unjust. I might just even put down some taint blocks just to scare them even more."
I heard Toms phone ringing in his pocket and he pulled it out and answered it.

"Hello? Oh hey Sonja what's up?"
He face scrunched up in confusion and he began to shoot looks my way as I heard Sonja telling him something.

"Alright, we'll be right there."

"What's wrong?" I asked dreadfully.

"You have to come see this. I think our praying worked." He smiled deviously.

Sweet sweet revenge.

We began to walk towards Sonja's house when we saw Martha.
She was standing still staring at something in the horizon, she had tears in her eyes.

"Martha?" I asked confused.

We finally caught up to her and I saw what everyone was talking about.

It was at least 500 feet long and it stretched towards the town like an approaching storm.

It was a statue. It was of a woman, who seemed to have dragged herself from the ground and she was holding the one thing that symbolized my god.

The scales of justice.

Her hair was down covering her face and her one arm stretched out in front of her, the other by her side. But that wasn't all.

It was made completely of taint. I saw the taint swarms surrounding it, and the veins stretching out towards the town.

"It didn't have to be this way." I heard Martha sob.

"What do you mean? What did this?" Tom asked questioningly.

"Who do you think? Helgrind went too far. Now this beautiful town must pay for it all. I tried to warn you, the fighting would soon cause terrible things. I watched my poor nephew preach his heart out, begging his father to accept him, to love him as he is and believe there is another way of peace. My poor poor boy...all alone in his prison..." She wept with her hands covering her face.

"Wait Andor is your nephew? The king is your brother?!" I exclaimed.

"Yes. I guess you should know everything dearies. The secret couldn't last forever. Ianite...she is our mother."

Oh my god.

"Helgrind abandoned her when...his two beloveds passed. He has to understand, there was nothing more she could do. She cannot raise the dead." She sobbed.

I remembered Andor telling me once that his mother and sister had passed long ago. He never told me why.

"Who is...who is your father then?" Tom asked quietly.

"That is for another time Syndicate...but you will find out soon."

We heard a shout from the castle gates and looked to see the king pointing at Martha.

"MARTHA! I know you summoned this! I know your dabblings in witchery! I will have you imprisoned for this crime!"
The king ran back inside. Probably to find the lieutenant.

Martha turned to us. She looked terrible and broken. Her hair was matted to her face from the wet tears. Her makeup was pouring down and she looked scared. She walked to Tom and me and looked at us with pleading eyes.

"He is too far gone to be saved. I must go before he imprisons me as well. Please, I beg of you, find my nephew. I leave this town to never return again. I cannot see such a beautiful place turn into a travesty of a war zone. Thank you both for having me. Thank you." She hugged me and I felt her tears seep through my shirt. She hugged Tom and whispered something into his ear.
"I'm sorry we couldn't do the...festivities that you suggested when we met."

She kissed him on the cheek and ran back in direction towards her house, her long purple hair trailing behind her. I saw the floating home fly away, to never be seen again.

"I can't believe this." I whispered to myself.

"Me either." Tom said while feeling of his cheek. I do actually think he liked Martha, and she liked him.

A few hours later, Tom had went home. I could tell he was upset over the whole Martha thing and I asked him if he was okay. He said he just needed some rest and time to think.

So much for a love interest for Tom.

I however decided to wait until the king left to his apostle meeting, to blow up the town.
Its too bad Tom didn't get to do this with me. It would have been really fun.

My first spot was the courthouse. I walked into the building and saw the metal cage in the middle of it.
I had been inside there once. It was when we first got here, me and Tom decided to steal armor, we didn't even know who it belonged to. That's how I met Steve, he was the one who called for a trial. Tom got out of his trial by working at Steve's farm, which was unfair to me at the time but now I guess I kinda understood why he weaseled out of it. That trial sucked.

I remember when Steve was sentenced to imprisonment in the cage. That's what started it all.

I placed the Tnt around the cage and around the jury stands. I walked out and detonated it with a lever.

*BOOM!*

The explosion blew the door off. I laughed and thought of the kings face scrunched up in anger.
'Tom would've loved to see this'
I sighed, the excitement leaving my body. I really wanted him to be here.

I blew up the rest of the stuff and started to head home.

Then I started thinking about Martha and how sad she was about the statue and the king. It was like she knew the statue was a symbol of the kings fate. I didn't know her well, but I sure hope she's okay. She was really nice aside from hitting on Tucker while Sonja was there. I laughed at the thought of that.

I walked into the tree and saw Tom sitting at the kitchen table. He was eating some fried apples and looking at pictures on his phone.

They were all pictures of me.
I don't really remember some of them being taken.

He stopped at one. I was fishing with a glowing enchanted rod and Sonja and Tucker were standing behind me smiling and waving at the camera.

Another one. Tom and I were in the Nether. I was fighting a ghast while Tom was giving a thumbs up and smiling. Not even bothering to help me.

He laughed at that. He switched to another.

It was her and I. I was driving my boat, and she was behind me with her arms wrapped around mine, helping me steer. I actually remember that. It was right before Tucker had paid Wag to build a giant bottle around my boat.

He swiped again and pulled up another picture.

It was her and I again. I was sitting on my balcony with my hand pointed towards the sky. She was looking in the direction with amazement on her face. It was the time I told her the science behind stars. She was amazed by it.

He swiped one more time and I saw one I didn't remember happening.

I was asleep. But I wasn't alone in my bed. My arm was wrapped around Tom and my face was cuddled into the crook of his neck. His eyes were looking at the camera and he had a smug grin on his face. I watched as Tom zoomed in on my face. He laughed quietly to himself.

I suddenly felt bad for spying on him. I feel like I shouldn't have see that.

I walked back outside quietly and stopped outside the tree.

"Tom! You feeling better man?" I yelled pretending as if I had just gotten home.

He put his phone back in his pocket and turned to face the door as I walked in.

"Yeah much better. Sorry I whimped out on the whole bombing the town thing."

"It's cool. I know your going through a sucky time right now."

I walked up to him and hugged him.

I wasn't gonna tell him that I saw that.

Whatever it was that I saw.
