Part 1/2

Your POV:
"She'll finally be out of our hair!"
"Isn't eighteen a little young to get married?"
"Who cares!? It's the number one hero's son! You saw how powerful he was during the UA sports festival!"
"I suppose you're right..."
"Honestly I'm surprised he even wanted Y/N. Good for nothing brat..."
"Yeah, she didn't deserve such a powerful quirk in the first place."
"So it's decided?"
"We'll send her over in the morning."
A tear rolled down my cheek and I covered my mouth with my hand in horror as I listened to my parent's muffled conversation from behind the door.
They had never really shown me any love or care but selling me off to get married to someone because of my quirk?
That was something no parent should ever do to their child.
I jumped as the door slammed open and my parents walked out.
"Pack your things. You're in an arranged quirk marriage with Endeavor's son. You leave in the morning." sneered my mother, shoving past me.
My quirk was that I could control the weather. I could make little tornadoes, storm clouds, lightning and that kind of stuff.
I suppose Endeavour wanted grandkids that could control the elements or something.
Grudgingly, I obeyed my mother.
My heart was heavy as I packed my few belongings. Not that I was sorry to get away from my neglectful parents, but I didn't want to marry someone I had no romantic interest in.
At least I wasn't getting married to a complete stranger- me and Todoroki had been together since first grade...
"Shoto! Shoto! Look what I can do!" I exclaimed happily, running up to my friend.
A tiny grey cloud appeared above me and little snowflakes started to fall from it. I twirled under the snow, catching one on my tongue.
"That's pretty cool! Look at this!"
Shoto held out his hands. A small flame burned in one of them and the other covered itself in frost.
"Wow, that's amazing! It must be so cool to have two quirks!"
"Yeah, I guess..."

I stood in front of the Todoroki's house, anxiously waiting for Endeavor and Todoroki to emerge.
My parents stood behind me, impatiently waiting to get rid of me. Most parents would have been proud that their daughter had been noticed by the number one hero but not mine.
Actually, most parents wouldn't arrange their kids into a marriage they didn't want to be in in the first place.
Endeavor finally emerged from his house, followed by his very reluctant son.
"Ah, Endeavor! Thank you for doing this! We're so glad that our daughter finally has the chance to do something useful!" said my mother in a sweetly fake tone.
"No, thank you. With such a strong quirk, I bet my heirs will be very powerful." boomed Endeavor.
I resisted the urge to glare at him. Todoroki did not.
After they talked for a while, my parents left, not bothering to bid me goodbye, and I was left alone with my future father-in-law and husband.
It was so weird to think of them in that way, but it was true- whether I liked it or not, I'm going to get married to my childhood friend.
"How did you get that scar on your face?" I wondered.
"It doesn't matter." Shoto muttered, looking away.
"Please! I'm your best friend! You can tell me anything!" I begged.
"My mom gave it to me. She poured boiling water on my face." he whispered at last, still not meeting my eyes.
"Why?" I asked quietly.
"Because my left side looks too much like my dad." he sniffed.
I wrapped my arms around him, trying my best to comfort him.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked. But... I think your left side is beautiful! And your scar! You look nothing like your dad. You look like Shoto!"
"Thanks, Y/N." he said, giving me a small smile as he wiped his eyes.
"No problem! Now let's go play on the swings!"

"You are to be wed next month." said Endeavor.
"What!?" I exclaimed "Next month!?"
"Yes." he said, glancing at me sternly "I suggest you use that time to get to know each other.
L/N, you will live here until then, and after that you two will move out."
"Yes, sir."
Endeavor left, leaving me and Todoroki by ourselves.
"Hi... Todoroki..." I said awkwardly.
Things haven't been the same between us since he got into UA...
"Shoto! I heard you got into UA! And by recommendation, too! That's so impressive! Congratulations!" I gushed running up to him.
It was our last year of middle school. I had never really wanted to become a hero, so I didn't apply to UA, but I was happy for my friend none the less.
"Yeah... Thanks..." he said.
"Is something wrong?" I asked, concerned.
"It's just... it's what my father wants-"
"And not what you want?" I finished for him.
He nodded, not looking at me. I sighed.
"Shoto, look at me." I said sternly, putting my hands on his shoulders. He obeyed, meeting my
e/c eyes with his heterochromic ones.
"I'm so sorry about your father and how he's controlling your life, but... If you ask me, I think you'll make an amazing hero! Don't do it for him, do it for you! Save people because YOU want to!"
His eyes widened and he nodded.
"Thank you, Y/N. You always know what to say."
"What can I say? I'm basically you're therapist."
"I don't need a therapist!" he chuckled, shoving me lightly.
"If I wasn't afraid to hurt your feeling, I would give you a list of three hundred and twenty four reasons you need a therapist!"
"Hey!"
I ran as he chased me down the halls, laughing all the while.
"Hello, L/N. It's been a while." said Todoroki.
"Yeah..." I agreed.
An awkward silence filled the space between us before I blurted out.
"Look I'm so sorry you're being forced to marry me! I don't want this either but our parents -"
"L/N."
"It's not our fault we have strong quirks, you know and-"
"L/N."
"We were both born to awful parents but at least-"
"Y/N!"
I stopped speaking abruptly as Todoroki called me by my first name.
"Yes?"
"I know it's not either of our faults." he started "But if I have to get married to someone against my will... I'm glad it's you."
I was shocked by his words, but touched none the less. It was as if the last three years hadn't happened.
"Yeah... me too." I smiled.
"We'll keep in touch, right?" I asked on the last day of summer before highschool.
"I..."
"Shoto?" I asked, confused by his hesitance to answer.
"Look, Y/N." he sighed. "It's not that I don't want to, it's just... When I go to UA, I don't think I'll have time for those kinds of things. I'll be too busy training to talk with you. Please understand."
"Oh..." I said, not knowing what to say.
"Please, Y/N. We'll still be friends, we just won't see each other very much." he said, a pleading note in his voice.
"Ok, but... promise me, that after you graduate, you'll come see me?"
"I promise."
I hugged him tightly, not knowing the next time I'd get the chance to do it again. He hugged back and after a minute, we broke apart.
"Don't forget what I told you about becoming a hero for you, not for your father!" I told him.
"I won't!" he promised. He waved one last time, before departing.
I waved, hoping with all my heart that he would keep those promises.
