Hawks x reader (fantasy AU)

Another request!!!! Thank you so much, Nathoink for requesting! I hope you like it!!!

I couldn't find what Hawks was in the fantasy AU so I made something up.

~•~❤️~•~

No one's POV:

Keigo Takami, or more commonly known as Hawks, was the second most powerful warrior in the kingdom.

His squire, Fumikage Tokoyami, was a class Nightblade and a ranger- in- training.

Keigo lived a good life- he had gold, power and adventure.

But there was one thing that he didn't have that, secretly, he had always wanted.

Even though many girls in the kingdom admired him, he had never found one to be his wife.

Yep, that's right. The kingdom's number two warrior was lonely.

He had always thought it was a weakness. He was a tough warrior. He slayed monsters, protected the kingdom, trained his squire and stopped criminals.

He shouldn't get involved in such a petty thing as romance!

Or so he thought until he met Y/N L/N...

~•~❤️~•~

Y/N L/N was a princess. Her brother, Shoto, was the next heir to the throne.

But truth be told, she didn't particularly enjoy the royal life.

She constantly longed to leave the castle and explore the world beyond. She wanted to be a knight, but sadly fate, and her father, prevented her from becoming one.

She had taken lessons and practiced in secret until she was skillful with a knife and passable with a sword.

She could sneak around better than any if her father's warriors and knew her way around poisons. She was just as capable, and in her opinion more so, than any knight.

But now the time had finally come.

She tiptoed through the dark deserted corridors with a satchel over her shoulder and a knife at her hip.

Tonight was the night she left the confining walls of the castle she had lived in for her whole life. Tonight, she was free...

Your POV:

I froze as I heard the snapping of a twig that was not caused by me.

I expertly scanned my dark surroundings for any sign of life.

My hand imidiatly went to the sheathed knife at my belt when I noticed the dull gleam of a pair of eyes not too far away.

The figure seemed to realize that they had been discovered and charged at me.

I used my sharpened senses to fight off the attacker in the dull light.

Suddenly, the clearing was illuminated by a bright fire, held in the palm of a man standing not too far away.

Now I could see who I was dealing with- three everyday criminals and a fire mage. They were trouble, but at least I hadn't run into the notorious group of criminals, calling themselves the League Of Hunters.

I fought off the first criminal that had attacked me, easily overpowering them with my knife skills.

The fire mage stood back while I fought his other two masked associates.

I unsheathed my thin sword and ended one of the two criminals I was fighting. The other realized my superiority in strength and tried to flee, but I ended him as well before he could get too far.

Now, the fire mage. So far, he showed no interest in fighting me, but if he did I might not be able to beat him.

Without warning, he shot a ton of hot red fire right at me.

I tried to dodge, but I was too late.

I closed my eyes, waiting to feel the unbearable heat and intense pain.

I guess my adventure ends here, I thought sadly.

But the pain and heat never came.

Hesitantly, I opened my eyes.

There, standing in front of me, holding a big metal shield, was a soldier. His bright eyes, with some kind of black markings in the corners, were scrunched up in concentration.

His blond hair was ruffled by the strength of the mage's attack.

Curiously, I noticed that there was a pair of large bright red wings sprouting from his back.

Finally, the fire stopped coming and the mysterious warrior lowered his shield.

Instead of fighting the fire mage like I had expected, instead the warrior wordlessly picked me up bridle-style and flew up into the air.

"Don't worry, mam. You're safe now." he told me.

"Wait, I forgot my sword!" I cried, patting my side and not feeling feeling it's familiar presence at my hip.

"Your what?" he asked, stunned.

"My sword? You know, the one I used to defeat those three criminals down there." I said, rolling my eyes.

The man looked down and saw the limp bodies of the three thiefs.

"You're no ordinary damsel in distress, are you, princess?" he asked, admiration in his voice. Gracefully, he landed and set me gently down on the grass.

"How did you know?" I panicked, worried my dad had sent him.

"Know what?" he asked confusedly.

"Nothing." I hurried to say, realizing he hadn't meant 'princess' literally.

"Wait, are you actually a princess!?" he exclaimed.

"No...?"

"What are you doing here!? In the woods!? By yourself!?" he questioned.

"It doesn't matter." I said, dusting off my pants "If you'll excuse me, I will be going now. I thank you kindly for saving me, good knight. Goodbye!"

I turned around and started walking in what I hoped was the direction of the nearest village.

"Where are you going?" he asked.

"The nearest village." I replied simply.

"Let me take you! It will be much faster that way!" he offered.

I stopped and considered his proposal.

"I suppose it would. I accept your offer. Thank you very much."

He smiled and picked me up again, before flying back up into the endless blue sky.

I enjoyed the sensation of the wind rushing around me and the landscape shrinking under me.

Maybe running into him wasn't such a bad thing after all...

"One room, please." I said to the inn owner.

"How many nights?" she asked.

"Just one." I answered, glancing at Hawks, as I learned was his name. Well, he had wanted me to call him Keigo, but I didn't think we were close enough to go by first names yet.

He was standing by the door, watching me as I payed for my room. He had insisted on staying here with me to 'make sure I was safe'.

"Is that young man over there with you?" the lady inquired, writing something down with a quill.

"No." I said sternly, glaring at Hawks. He smiled brightly back at me.

My cheeks turned pink and I quickly looked away.

It was hard to stay mad at him when he was just so dang handsome...

No, Y/N, stop thinking like that!!!

I mentally shook myself and accepted the key from the inn owner.

I walked up to my room and unlocked it. As I was turning the key, Hawks came up beside me and started to unlock the room next to mine.

"Hello, neighbour!" he said, doing one of those adorable closed-eye smiles again.

I rolled my eyes, but suppressed a smile as I walked into my little room and plopped down onto the bed.

Exhausted by today's events, I quickly fell asleep on the soft bed.

I woke up to someone knocking softly on my door.

"Wake up, princess!" came a muffled voice.

"Five more minutes..." I mumbled, rolling over.

"I was going to ask you if you wanted to come with me to explore the kingdoms and slay monsters, but if you would rather go back to your dad..."

"No!" I shot up in bed and scrambled to open the door.

Sure enough, Hawks was standing there, a pleased smirk on his face.

"I would... love to go with you, Hawks." I said, feeling my face heat up again.

"You can come, but one one condition..." he started.

"What?" I asked suspiciously.

"You have to call me Keigo." he smiled.

"Sure... Keigo."

"Great! Now hurry up and get ready, princess! We've got an adventure to go on!"
