Aizawa + Eri

Definitely no romance in this one, just Dadzawa hanging out with Eri, cuz why not.

No one's POV:

"We need a volunteer to take care of Eri for a while before we can find her a new home." announced principal Nedzu to the rest of the UA staff.

"What about that Mirio kid she's always with?" asked Midnight after a pause.

"As you know, Mirio is in the hospital. And he is a UA student and cannot be burdened with looking after a child right now." Nedzu said "Which is why one of you teachers will be assigned to look after the girl."

All the teachers looked expectantly at Aizawa.

"Why is everyone looking at me?" he groaned.

"Yes, Aizawa, you'll do just fine." said Nedzu.

"I didn't agree to this..."

"You know what? I think I could do it-" started Midnight.

"I'll do it." interrupted Aizawa.

"It's settled!" finished Nedzu "Aizawa, you can go pick her up, the rest of you are dismissed!"

"Eri, this is Mr. Aizawa." introduced Midoriya, kneeling down next to the child. "He's going to look after you for a while, ok?"

"Ok." she said shyly.

"Get back to class, problem child, I can handle her from here." Aizawa said.

"School finished an hour ago..."

"Then get back to your dorm."

"Y-yes, sir."

Midoriya left and he was left alone with the little girl. They both stood in silence for a minute, not knowing what to do.

"I guess we should go home. Come with me." Aizawa said, turning around and motioning for Eri to follow.

Eri nodded her small head and started to walk behind him.

After a while, Aizawa felt something hit his hand. A small hand slipped into his and grasped it tightly. Without looking at the girl, Aizawa squeezed her hand back reassuringly.

"Um, Mr. Aizawa, are we almost there? My feet are getting tired." said Eri timidly.

Aizawa stopped suddenly and knelt down in front of her.

"We're almost there." he said "You can ride on my back if you're tired.

Eri exclaimed happily as she wrapped her arms around Aizawa's neck. He lifted her up easily and hooked his arms under her legs for support.

He carried her all the way to his house. As he unlocked his front door, he noticed Eri's breathing had deepened and she had rested her head on his shoulder. He felt her little horn lightly pressing into the fabric of his shirt and realized the girl had fallen asleep.

Aizawa opened the door quietly and walked in, careful not to wake Eri.

She's had a long day. He thought to himself, setting the girl down on his own bed and tucking her in.

Aizawa turned off the lights and went to go sleep on the couch.

He fell asleep quickly, exhausted as always from teaching class 1-a, wondering what he would do tomorrow with Eri. It was Saturday, so he would need to figure something out. Maybe go to the park?

He would figure it out in the morning, he thought, drifting off into a deep sleep.

"Mr. Aizawa! Mr. Aizawa, it's time to wake up!"

"Five more minutes..." he grumbled, pulling the blanket over his head.

"But I'm hungry!" complained Eri.

Aizawa reluctantly sat up, meeting Eri's big pleading eyes with his tired ones.

"Fine, what do you want for breakfast?"

"Caramel apples!" exclaimed Eri.

"You are not having a caramel apple for breakfast." sighed Aizawa "How about I make pancakes?"

"Yay, pancakes!"

He reluctantly got off of the comfortable couch and turned on some cartoons for Eri while he made breakfast.

He put on his cat apron and tied his hair back in a man bun. First he made the batter, poured in onto a hot pan and flipped them one by one.

As the episode of Bluey came to an end, he flipped the last pancake.

"Eri! Come eat!" he called.

Eri ran into the room and sat down at the small table.

Aizawa slid her a plate of pancakes and joined her at the table.

"Thank you for the food!" Eri said happily, before digging in.

Aizawa watched with a small smile on his face as Eri ate her pancakes.

"What do you want to do today? We can go to the park?" he asked.

Eri thought about for a moment before nodding enthusiastically.

"Yeah, and can we go on the swings?"

"Sure."

"Yay!"

"Go brush your teeth and hair and we can leave as soon as you're ready." Aizawa told her, standing up and putting both if their dishes in the sink.

Eri ran off to do as she was told.

Aizawa found himself smiling at the little girl yet again.

"Do you need help tying your shoes?" he asked as they got their shoes on by the door.

"Yes please."

Aizawa knelt down to tie her shoes for her. He stood up and offered her a hand, wich she gladly accepted, and the two of them walked out of the house together.

"Mr. Aizawa, can you push me?" asked Eri, running up to the swings and sitting in one of them. She kicked her feet, but her legs were to short to reach the ground.

"Sure."

Aizawa went up behind her and gave her back a light push.

"Higher!" she laughed.

As Aizawa pushed a little harder, another little kid ran up to the swings.

"Dad, push me, push me!" he said happily, swinging his legs just as Eri had done.

"Sure thing, kiddo!" smiled the father, giving his kid a push.

Eri watched them with a curious expression on her face, as if she was thinking deeply about what the little kid had said.

"Hey, Mr. Aizawa?" Eri asked as they walked home hand in hand after a long day at the park.

"Yes?"

"Why did that little kid on the swings call that man 'dad'? What's a dad?"

Aizawa took a deep breath. It made him so sad that this child had grown up in such a way that she didn't know what it was like to have a father. That day, he swore to protect her at all costs.

"A dad is someone who takes care of their kid." He explained "A dad protects and loves their child no matter what."

"Oh." said Eri "So... kind of like you, Mr. Aizawa!"

"Yeah... kind of like me..." he said, heart swelling as he looked at the little girl beside him.

"Mr. Aizawa?" said Eri shyly.

"Yes?"

"Can I call you dad?"

"Sure thing, kid. Sure thing"

BONUS:

Aizawa knelt in front of Eri, much like he had when he had first agreed to take care of her, but this time, he was saying goodbye.

"I'm going to miss you, kid." he said, ruffling Eri's hair affectionately.

Nedzu and the other teachers stood a ways behind him, watching the emotional scene before them.

Aizawa was glad they had found a new home for Eri, but at the same time, these had been the best few weeks of his life.

"I'm going to miss you too, dad." she said quietly, leaning forward and giving him a hug.

He returned it and after a moment they broke apart.

Aizawa waved one last time at the little girl he had grown to love, before reluctantly turning around to face his fellow teachers.

"Geez, Shota, I've never seen you get so emotional." teased Present Mic.

"Shut up, Mic." he grumbled.

"So.. we're just going to ignore the fact that she called him Dad?" asked Midnight mischievously.

"Oh, don't worry, he will never hear the end of that!" assured Present Mic.

"Uggghhhh." graoned Aizawa.

"Feeling down, Aizawa?" asked the blond "Why don't you tell yourself a dad joke to cheer yourself up?"

"Please stop." Aizawa begged.

"Never." grinned Mic.
