Story
"Hey, Shin, can I go to your place to study?" Kaminari asked.
The insomniac teen shrugged. "Sure. I'll help you with your studies if you help me with English."
The blonde beamed. "Sure! Thanks!"
Shinso merely grunted as he fixed his scarf. Kaminari waved before leaving to go to class. Shinso texted his mom to let her know a friend was coming over to study with him. His mom didn't mind surprise guests, but she appreciated at least a small heads up. Usually, she took that time to make some treats or something.
He didn't bother telling her who was coming. Kaminari was probably the only person he let come to his house so frequently. The others are good friends, but him and Kaminari were just super close, even if Shinso didn't want to admit it. The other reason was that Kaminari was the boy one that asked to go to his house. The others usually invited him to theirs.
Shinso sat down in the back of the class. He noticed Aizawa had yet to come, for their teacher wasn't even sleeping with his sleeping bag in the classroom. He was either sleeping elsewhere or busy doing one thing or the other.
The door suddenly swung open and the students turned their heads to it, expecting to see Aizawa. Instead, they saw a man with yellow hair and a huge scowl on his face.
Kaminari's figure went stiff and his carefree, bright smile instantly vanished. In its place was a stone expression as he stared at the blackboard, avoiding this gaze of the man.
"DENKI KAMINARI!" The man screamed, storming towards the boy in question. The class flinched by the tone and even Todoroki's eyes widened at the confrontation.
The man slammed the palms of his hands on the boy's desk. In response, Kaminari stood up, trying to look calm. However, the others could see the boy was shaking as he clenched both fists until his knuckles were turning white.
"You stupid, #%$!, half-brained, idiotic, #%$!#, good for nothing, #$%#-"
"What the @#%#, is wrong with you!" Bakugo hissed. Jirou grabbed his arm to keep him from doing anything. For the moment at least. She was ready to give that man a few words of her own, but refrained herself.
"Dad! Not here!" Kaminari whispered.
Kirishima, who sat behind Kaminari looked at Sero and whispered, "I can smell the man's breath from here! He's drunk as a-" the boy was cut off by a slapping sound. His eyes widened with terror as he realized that man just slapped his friend.
The man raised his hand to do it again. Instead, Shinso stood up and used his scarf as a lasso and used it to wrap around Kaminari. Then he yanked his friend out of the man's reach.
"What kind of father are you to call your son names like that?" Shinso asked calmly.
"I don't have to answer to you, you $%%!#-"
"Stop," Shinso demanded. The man did instantly. Now that the drunk man was no longer harm at the moment, he was trying to figure out what to do next.
Iida stood up. "I shall find a teacher to come to our assistance," he said. Before he got to leave, Aizawa walked in.
"What is this?" He frowned and glared, but he noticed the terror on his students faces towards the man standing frozen in the middle of the class room. Then he saw Shinso standing on his chair with one foot on his desk holding on his scarf. Kaminari was wrapped in the scarf, but his face was aimed at the ground.
"Sir," Iida began. "This man came in harassing my fellow student, Kaminari, using foul language and inappropriate behavior, along with hitting Kaminari in the face."
"He's drunk," Kirishima added.
"Who is he?" Aizawa asked gruffly as he made it across the classroom to the man.
"Kaminari's father," Shinso mumbled.
Aizawa studied Shinso, then Kaminari for a moment. "You two head to Nezu's office."
"Yes, sir." Shinso nodded and recovered his scarf. He then lead kaminari to where they had been told to go.
The two sat down in Nezu's office, but he was not present at the moment. They hoped he would return soon. Shinso sighed and looked at his friend, who seemed interested in his folded hands on his lap.
"So... how did your dad even get passed security?" Shinso asked, hoping for some sort of conversation.
Kaminari laughed dryly. "He probably won't even know when that drink's out of his system." He said it as of it was a joke, a laughing matter.
"Hey..." Shinso inwardly cringed, knowing he wasn't very good at talking about feelings. "You ok?"
"Yeah," Kaminari put on his iconic grin.
For the first time, Shinso saw the smile for what it really was. It wasn't real. It was mask to hide his pain. He wanted to slap himself for not realizing it sooner, for not paying attention to it.
"Dude, your cheek is swollen," Shinso mumbled.
"I've had worse," Kaminari bit back.
Shinso sighed. "Look, Kami, I'm not the best at talking about these sort of things, but I do know that it's ok not to be ok."
"I'm supposed to be a hero, Shin. I can't let this get to me," Kaminari whispered.
"Hey, it's amazing you've been going around as this ball of sunshine, but you don't owe us anything. You can be hurt, sad and whatever it is you need to feel. Sometimes... sometimes even heros need to be saved, which is why we have so many... but don't ever act as someone's mistreatment to you as a joke or laughing matter! It's not funny!"
Kaminari blinked, his face in utter surprise from Shinso's little outburst at the end.
Shinso sighed deeply. "Sorry... but I mean what I said."
The blonde looked away, he nervously messaged his hands. Shinso's eyes widened as he saw the boy's shoulders start to shake with sobs. Kaminari covered his face with his hands and began to cry tears that were long overdue. All Shinso could do was give his friend awkward pats on his back to comfort him.
"I'm here for you..."

Later, Kaminari entered the dorms' common area. Immediately, he was tackled by his peers. Specifically, Mina, Sero and Krishima. He yelped with surprise. Shinso stepped to the side.
"Bro!" Krishima asked.
"Tell us everything! Are you ok?" Mina inquired.
"Y-yeah, I'm ok," Kaminari chuckled.
"Give duance-face space, you idiots," Bakugo hissed.
"Oh! Sorry!" The three stepped back.
Kaminari realized all his classmates were looking at him worriedly. Suddenly, he burst into laughter. This only seemed to concern his peers more and Momo made him sit on the couch while she got him some tea.
"I don't get it. What's so funny?" Uraraka asked. Tsu gave her the same quizzical look, telling her she hadn't the slightest clue.
The blonde wiped tears off his cheeks as his laughter died down. "Yeah, I think I'm ok. I may not have the most ideal parents back home but..."
Mina beamed, now understanding. "But you have us! We're your family!" She embraced him into a hug.
"Yeah, bro. You can always lean on us," Kirishima agreed.
Shoto nodded. "Family is more than just blood."
"Family is the people who care about you the most," Sero added.
"We're all here for you," Midoriya smiled.
Kirishima elbowed Bakugo. The platinum blonde mere grunted. "Tch." That was a yes.
"And if you ever need to talk about something, don't be afraid to come to us," Jirou said.
"Iida, are you crying?" Kaminari asked.
"Gah! Sorry! It's just..."
"Dude, it's ok, half of us are," Sero pointed.
Kaminari chuckled through his tears again. "I love you guys!"
"Ah! I can't take it anymore! Group hug, guys!" Mina exclaimed.
All the students surrounded Kaminari in a group hug that even Bakugo participated in. Everything was going to be ok.
