Hypatia was the daughter of Queen Sapphire and King Leon. She grew up very sheltered because of the dangers lurking around the kingdom. War was at its climax and with tensions high The King and queen didn't want to risk their child's life. This didn't stop Hypatia from sneaking around and watching the knights train. However her childhood was marked by the constant reminder that monsters were dangerous creatures who couldn't be trusted. 

The peace between Mewni and the monsters finally shattered when a faction of monsters led by a powerful and bitter warlord launched a full-scale rebellion against the Butterfly monarchy. They stormed the castle during Princess Hypatia's wand ceremony and brutally killed her parents in front of the guests. Evertone watched in horror as the princess let out a soul shattering cry and transformed into a giant butterfly, blasting the monsters with magic and saving everyone's lives.

The kingdom was shocked by Hypatia power due to her receiving the wand not even minutes prior to the incident. Glossaryck himself said that she was one of the best students he had taught and that her natural magic abilities were most likely strong from the moment she was born. Everyone fell into a deep depression following the murders of their beloved monarchs. Hypatia, only fourteen, was given no time to mourn before being forced onto the throne. 

Though devastated by her parents' deaths, the fire of survival ignited within her. It was in that moment that Hypatia began her path as "The Savior," the leader who would rise from tragedy to save her kingdom from the monsters that had taken her parents' lives. Her bravery and compassion in the heat of battle earned her the people's loyalty. When she was 18 she married Archie Sappers, one of the castle's gardener boys. Their union resulted in the birth of Princess Juno. Hypatia died from tuberculosis at age 44.
