Born to Queen Hestia and King Oswin, Umbra was once a sweet and compassionate girl, beloved by the people of Mewni. Her childhood was filled with laughter and warmth as she eagerly participated in the various festivals and celebrations held in her honor.  Her gentle nature and pure heart made her a beacon of light with many believing she would one day follow in her mother's footsteps as a guiding force for the kingdom. She was often seen helping those in need, embodying the virtues her mother instilled in her.

Her father King Oswin made an effort to create special moments with his daughter, whether it was exploring the lush forests surrounding the castle or teaching her to ride horses. They would embark on small adventures during which he would encourage her to be brave and resourceful, emphasizing the importance of compassion in leadership. One of Umbra's fondest memories was a day spent together in the Royal Garden. Oswin patiently taught her about the various plants and flowers, their uses, and how nature plays a crucial role in maintaining harmony in Mewni. They planted a special tree together—a symbol of their bond and Umbra's future as a leader.

As Umbra grew into her teenage years she collected many friends from far and wide using her inexplicable charm and personality which remained up until her 14th birthday. When she received the wand it transformed into a white circular wand with an obsidian sphere in the middle. However the kingdom began to notice changes in their beloved princess.  As the days went by, Umbra began to exhibit bizarre behaviors. Initially subtle, her mood swings escalated and shifted from her usual kindness to inexplicable fits of rage. She would attack random kids for no reason at all and would be found stealing knives from the Royal kitchen, an action that unnerved the castle staff.

As time passed, it became evident that Umbra's wand was somewhat sentient, a trait that it had never shown before with its previous wielders. It whispered to her in the dark, feeding her fears and desires and drawing her deeper into a web of taboo magic. The once gentle princess found herself entranced by the wand's alluring promises of happiness and darkness. It beckoned her to explore magic that had long been forbidden Despite her mother's best efforts to help her regain control, Umbra slipped further into madness. She began to isolate herself from her loved ones, consumed by the voices in her head that urged her to embrace her darker impulses. The kingdom was unsettled and whispers of Umbra's descent into malevolence grew louder as even the most loyal subjects began to fear her presence.

Things only got worse when Umbra went through mewberty. She flew around Mewni and destroyed an entire farming village with her magic. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of Umbra's transformation into Umbra the Malevolent. The guilt and shame she felt were eclipsed by the darkness that began to consume her, driving her deeper into the seductive allure of forbidden magic. The devastation of the village became a catalyst for her downward spiral, solidifying the path of chaos and destruction she would walk. Soon enough the people of mewni voiced their concerns to Queen Hestia. They were beginning to have doubts about Umbra being their next queen. The MHC urged Hestia to do something before it got out of hand.

Despite people's concerns Hestia couldn't have anymore kids and had no choice but to abidcate the throne and hand it over to Umbra. The first few months of her reign were surprisingly calm and for some time the voices seemed to stop bothering her. However they resumed once more during the second full year of Umbra's reign. In her diary she wrote, "The voice talks to me in my sleep. It whispers softly at first then gets louder as if its trying to get my attention. No matter what I do it doesn't go away. I fear i'm losing my mind but I need to keep it together for the kingdom's sake." Sometime during her second reigning year she met Sir Cedric Forest of the Forest house at his sister's wedding (that she was invited to).

At first, Umbra seemed to have a sort of hatred for Cedric as seen in her diary entries where she says, "he looks at you with this smug face when he thinks he is right. it infuriates me and I wish to punch him at times. he's so egoistic that he thought I was in love with him because I was staring at him!" And though their relationship started out as a rivalry they began to grow closer over time. One event that brought them closer was when they were trapped in a large hole in the Forest of uncertain death for days. Umbra's wand was dead so they had no way of getting out. In Cedric's journal (don't ask how I got his journal I have my ways. Im Sirrrrrrrr Glossaryck of terms after all) he wrote: "I wish to never relive those four long days again. Spending even an hour near Her Majesty gives me migraines."

Eventually Cedric proposed to her and they were wed in Butterfly Castle Gardens. At the age of 25 Umbra gave birth to a girl named Odette. Since her pregnancy the voices got louder. Umbra began to wander off at night to her secret trove where she would perform and pratice dark arts like necromancy, shadow manipulation, voodoo, blood magic, cursed incantations, and many others. The wand had blinded her judgement and gave her the desire to conquer the other kingdoms under the butterfly name. Cedric noticed these changes in his wife and tried his best to stop her but to no avail. It wasn't until their daughter's 13th birthday that tragedy struck.

Princess Odette, curious about where her mother went during the night, snuck out of the castle and followed her to her hideaway. She watched from the side as Umbra performed dangerous spells. Eventually Odette got bored and went to leave but stepped on a twig which startled her mother. Umbra, frightened that someone had discovered her secret (or that this was an ambush) turned around and cast a spell that shot Odette and turned her into a swan. When Umbra realized her mistake she coddled her daughter and brought her back to the castle where she was lectured by her worried husband. Cedric recalled that, "Odette was waddling around the room honking. She was scared. And so was I."

Umbra, against the advise of the MHC, began to make her plans for Mewman domination. The wand would instruct her on how to conquer the other kingdoms. But her main target was the Underworld. Umbra wanted control of the kingdom so she could gain access to their magic abilities and necromancing talents. During the 4th year of her reign she launched a surprise attack on the Luictor family. She managed to overwhelm them for a short time but Umbra was eventually defeated. Luckily the Luictor family was kind enough to keep the battle a secret to save Umbra the embarrassment. After this failed attempt Umbra decided to turn her attention to her daughter.

Umbra knew her daughter would get the wand in a year so she spent every minute of everyday using the wand to try and undo the curse she created. The guilt of knowing that her daughter went through a painful transformation every night burdened her. She wanted nothing more than for Odette to return to her normal self. Unfortunately she could not lift the curse. And so she was forced to give up, handing the wand over to Odette on her 14th birthday. During this time Umbra had already learned to do magic with her hands  instead of her wand so it was easier to pratice her dark magic undetected.

During the 5th year of her reign she made a devastating attack on the Waterfolk kingdom. She enslaved the Royal family under the control of her magic (it turned out that even after giving the wand away she could still hear the voices coming from her hands) but was quickly defeated by their allies the Ponyhead kingdom. As the years went on Umbra descended to madness as her magic corrupted her to a point where she couldn't save her own life. She eventually planned to leave Mewni as a whole, with her 17 year old daughter stepping up as queen. Before she left she had passionate love making with her husband Cedric and kissed him goodbye.

At that moment her dark magic overtook her and clogged her veins, causing her heart to stop completely. Umbra died that night in front of her husband. She is buried in the Butterfly Crypts. Not even a few generations later Mewni would be plagued by a second evil queen: her descendant, Eclipsa the Queen Of Darkness.

My Own Spells!

Shadowveil Consumption: this spell summons a swirling cloud of pure darkness that engulfs the target, absorbing all light and draining the life force of those within its radius. It leaves behind only a cold, empty void where the victim once stood.

Eclipse of the Heart: a dark energy creeps into the victim's heart, freezing all emotions and turning love and warmth into cold indifference or hatred. The affected person becomes emotionally detached, as if their soul were locked away.

Soulshatter Curse: the target's soul is fractured into countless pieces, causing mental torment, loss of identity, and an inability to heal. Over time, the victim becomes a hollow shell of their former self, slowly fading into insanity.

Spectral Chains of Oblivion: invisible chains wrap around the target's soul, anchoring them to the realm of darkness. They become imprisoned within their own mind, unable to escape an ever-growing sense of despair and isolation. Incantation:

"Chains of spirit, iron unseen,

Bind their soul in cold, serene,

Drag them down where shadows dwell,

Imprisoned deep in voidless hell."

Whispers of the Forgotten: this spell fills the target's mind with the voices of lost souls, driving them to madness. The whispers torment them, planting doubts and fears until they can no longer distinguish between reality and nightmare.

Crude Fleshbind Cataclysm: this spell warps and mutates the target's body into horrific shapes, destroying both their physical form and mental sanity.

Red Velvet Vortex: a dark red vortex forms around the target, ripping through their body and spirit, leaving nothing but a crimson mist in its wake.

Blackfire Blast: the target is engulfed in black flames that burn with an unearthly cold, consuming both body and soul without leaving a trace.

Nightshade Grasp: dark poisonous vines sprout from the ground, ensnaring the victim in a deadly grasp. The vines drain life while injecting poison causing excruciating pain and inevitable death if not stopped.

Grim Herald's Call: thus spell calls forth a harbinger of death—a grim specter that marks those it touches for imminent death. Once marked, the target has limited time to live unless the spell is undone by powerful magic.

Bloodmoon Requiem: my most powerful spell. it unleashes catastrophic destruction across vast landscapes, summoning floods, fire, earthquakes, and mass devastation, leaving nothing but desolation in its wake. It draws power from the ominous blood moon, turning the sky red and spreading fear across all who witness it.

"By the cursed light of crimson's rise,

Where shadow meets the weeping skies,

Let blood-red moon consume the air,

And whisper death to all who dare.

In red we trust, in dark we drown,

By lunar might, I cast you down.

From life to ash, from hope to dust,

In Bloodmoon's wrath, destruction's thrust!"
