The Weasley-Grangers

Despite knowing that many weddings were going to occur at the present moment in time, and that both George and Iris would be invited to multiple it still felt weird when the day of said weddings occurred. Today was one of those such days. And it was a wedding that was closer to them both than either of them liked to think to much about. As for today was the day that George's younger brother Ron got married. And to his school sweetheart Hermione Granger nonetheless. A weird thought to the pair of them but it was technically law and there were no take backsies unless either of the couple wanted to spend an unknown length of time in prison. A rather extreme punishment for not conforming to loving who the community thought best suited you.

But that was a discussion for another day.

Just like the fact that despite the wedding happening at George's childhood home, and his parents having invited most of their children and their partners to stay the night beforehand so that the family could celebrate the big day all together, no such invite came for George and Iris. Or well to Iris' knowledge no such invite came. Though it would not surprise her if an invite came for just George himself and the man had refused it.

"I don't like this." George spoke that morning to Iris as the pair finished getting the final parts of their outfits together organised. George's hair was currently charmed back to its original ginger colour the magenta colour it had been for the last week or so concealed as Hermione had been against it on her wedding day.

"It's okay at the reception we can charm it back George, it's just for the wedding photos." Iris attempted to soothe him assuming that he was upset about the magenta colour, he had been very fond of it and had kept it that way for much longer than some of the other colours he had chosen to sport in the last few months. Many of which had lasted only a matter of days.

"I do love how concerned you are about my hair Rizzo. But I'm rather quite unhappy about Ron getting married." George commented and this was the first time Iris had really heard him say anything against this marriage of his younger brother. He had complained about the prospect of Ginny getting married after all it was his younger sister who seemed barely old enough to even be considering the option of getting married. And for a while she pondered if it was because it was his younger brother who was getting married before him which was the problem. But then she was confused as George had agreed to being a groomsman for his brother and also gone on the Stag night.

"Share your concerns with me. I'll be your agony aunt." Iris' tone was light as she joked just a little but she was also a little worried as to what had upset George so greatly.

"I know it's the law, but there's just something about this union in particular I don't like. I like Breenan, Harry's not horrible obviously there's you this amazing woman. And then there's Hermione. She just seems like someone who's the complete opposite of Ron and not in a good way." George looked at Iris perhaps expecting her to turn negatively against him for his words but all he got was a sigh in return.

"I know George, but perhaps with some more time things will become clearer as to why they are so suited for one another. The saying is that friends can turn into lovers overnight is it not? Perhaps that is what occurred between the two of them but as you are so used to seeing them as friends that you cannot see them as anything more for now." Iris gently tried to explain her point but she could also see where George was coming from. After all that had been her first impression of the pair when they had met at the Burrow for Christmas.

"I always thought she had a thing for Fred but never acted on it because he was like a lost puppy for Angelina."

"Well let's hope that has long since passed."

"She's not really got a choice has she." George laughed and Iris smiled as she found herself feeling pride for how he had started to be able to talk about his brother now without the immense sadness and pain. It was still there but slowly it was getting better. Just slowly. And he could take all the time he needed and Iris would never say a word. She was just happy he could have moments like this where he was able to say certain things and not be left inconsolable.

"She still has you." Iris gave his shoulders a little tap at her words as she went to straighten the tie he had on. Knowing he had purposely left it wonky in order to anger his mother.

"Not likely. Why have someone who wanted Fred first when I can have you who only ever sees me first?" George knew what his words would do to Iris, what they were doing if the smirk was anything to go by.

"You're going to be the death of me George Weasley."

"Not until you are legally Iris Weasley will I ever allow that to happen." And as George looked to his watch, considering the pocket watch he had pinned on was useless at telling the time. He muttered a low 'fuck' as he looked back up at Iris. "Shit I told dad we'd be there 10 minutes ago." And with that the magic of their moment was forgotten as Iris quickly grabbed her bag checking that the things she had packed the night before were still in there before the two of them joined hands and with a pop left their bedroom to arrive in the living room of the Burrow just seconds afterwards.

After allowing the feeling of apparition to wear off. George and Iris looked to one another before trying to figure out where anyone else was in the building. The wedding itself was not due to start for another hour and a bit but they had been told to come early to help with the final finishing bits for the big event. And they were obviously late to that part.

"George, Iris how wonderful to see you both." The booming voice of Arthur Weasley greeted the pair, the man having greatly warmed up to Iris in the few times they had met since Christmas.

"Sorry we're late Dad." George spoke though there was little remorse in his voice.

"I'd never expect you two to be on time, don't worry about it son." Arthur hugged George before turning to Iris and bringing the young witch into his arms as well.

"Where do you need us?" Iris asked after she had been let go from the man's arms.

"George do you mind helping out back? We're trying to set up the chairs but your older brothers are having a bit too much fun playing bumper chairs and Percy's on Charlie's team. Bill's losing and becoming a sour wolf mind going to settle the score so we can actually line them up?" The mischievous look was in Arthur's eyes the familiar one she saw in George's own. And it was obvious he did not mind the boys having a joke about even on such an important day he only cared that the teams were even to ensure there was no arguments over cheating. And then he turned his attention back to Iris. "The rest of them are upstairs trying to get ready but I think they're having some hiccups. Fleur seems to be the only one ready do you mind going up to see if they need any help?" And Arthur posed it as more of a question knowing that there were some problems between Iris and some of the other women connected to the Weasley family. But it was a family wedding and if there was any day to put differences aside this would be it. At least that was what Iris told herself. And therefore with a quick agreement to Arthur's words she watched on as the man disappeared to somewhere else in the house. George turned to Iris and waited for her to say or do anything. Though he was only met with a smile.

"Go win for me." Were her parting words as she turned to head up the stairs and to a part of the house she had never been in beforehand.

Finding the rest of the family was not as hard as Iris thought it would be. As for the moment she reached the first floor she immediately heard the words of the rest of the group as they were obviously arguing over something. And therefore, Iris followed the sounds of the voices until they were loud enough so that she could hear their words clearly.

"Stop you're just making it worse. She's not a lion." The agressive tone of Fleur was the first words Iris could clearly make out.

"Well you're not offering any decent solutions." Ginny's words were the next to grace Iris' ears clearly as she approached what must have been the bedroom of which the group were currently inside. The door was shut and despite her brain stating that she could just walk in the room as she was as much a part of the family as the other's were. Iris could not bring herself to do so, and therefore knocked on the door to alert the other's to her presence.

It took a mere matter of seconds for the door to fling open with Fleur standing on the other side. The woman who had first opened the door with a look of fury on her face suddenly seemed much happier to see Iris stood at the otherside.

"Thank Merlin you are here. I thought it was one of the boys coming to check up on us again. We need your help." Fleur was quick on dragging Iris into the room and as soon as she entered it would seem that the rest quickly turned around to see Iris and she did not get the reaction she was expecting. Rather Hermione, who had been otherwise cold and shut off from her since they were sixteen, seemed over the moon to have Iris appear as she was getting ready to get married. A strange circumstance of which Iris had found herself in but she did not have enough time to question it.

"Finally someone who understands hair. Iris please help I just want my curls to look nice and not so frizzy but everyone else is just making them look worse." Hermione beckoned the other witch over and Iris had nothing to do but to follow her up to the dressing table and mirror where the witch currently sat her makeup partially done and her hair looking so big and uncontrollable that it seemed impossible to tame.

"I can't promise any miracles Hermione, our curl pattern and texture is different but I'll see what I can do." Iris' words were strong with the lack of promise but she wanted to at least do the best she could have. And as she started to recant spell and charm after charm she watched slowly as Hermione's hair became more and more like the photo the witch had taped to the mirror as inspiration and less like the mess it had been when she entered the room.

"It looks amazing Iris, thank you. You'll have to teach me how to do it."

"There's a book I'm sure I've got a spare of at the flat I can give you." Iris responded and it was there that she realised that just maybe whatever petty feud was going on between the two might have just been overturned.

And perhaps there was a chance that she might not be so isolated in the vast family of which was the Weasleys.

The wedding itself seemed to fly by at a rather rapid speed and before Iris had even allowed herself to sink in any events of what had happened that day the reception was fully underway. And as she sat on the incredibly large table of which held the direct members of the Weasley family and their partners she was laughing away watching as Hermione and Ron attempted their first dance. And attempted was a big overstatement, as it would appear that none of the lessons they had prior to the ball in their fourth year had any remaining impact on Ron. And as he tried not to embarrass himself and his new wife, Iris realised that despite them not being incredibly well suited, Hermione and Ron worked pretty well.

"He looks like a bumbling baboon." She whispered to George
