the sunset sky above the pier
where the seabirds tend to show,
the place I met my one true love
but now I bask in afterglow.

I gave him my heart and story in one breath
as we had fun being kids on the fair,
the next night ended with tears
after I found of his love affair.

deep blue sea. a bottomless void
where I lay as I drowned in my thoughts,
dark waters were choppy and slashed through my limbs
he has won, yet shows no remorse.

I gasp for breath, fight against the current
my body as one with the waves, when
I closed my eyes, saw him there
