ONE

S E L A H felt the cold air smack her face as she ran. The satisfying sound of her boots hitting the pavement traveled through her ears as a rush of adrenaline coursed through her. It filled her veins and took control of her, yet fuelled her to continue running.

She didn't dare look over her shoulder. She knew she'd have two, cops on her tail. She committed a small crime, merely just stealing a few things from a shop to benefit herself. However, as she left the scene of her burglary two members of the GCPD were outside waiting for her. She had been able to escape their grips and left them chasing after her.

Her hair flew around her head violently as the strong wind in the atmosphere howled fiercely. When the brunette knew she was far ahead enough she rushed into a dimly lit alley.

She leant against a wall. Panting rapidly, attempting to catch her breath. As she calmed down she realized her freckled cheeks were flushed and beads of sweat dripped down her temple.

She had not a clue of where the police chasing her had gone, which worked in her favour.

Selah stood up properly, leaving the wall she had been using for support and took off towards the opposite end of the alley.

She walked home taking back routes, alleys and as many short cuts as possible. She had no intention of being seen by any pedestrians, or cops or citizens dressed in bat costumes.

The sky that was once smeared with grey evolved into a black nothingness. Almost every single star was invisible due to the bright neon lights of the city.

Selah reached the run down, ancient building that was her apartment. She trudged around to the side climbing up the escape route ladder that would lead her to her apartment.

She slipped inside her window and changed out of her vigilante clothing.

The dark haired girl trudged over to her bedroom. She kicked off her shoes and climbed into bed, she had been extremely tired and left her clothes on.

As her head hit the pillow her eyes fluttered shut, her body ready to transition into a deep sleep.
