The One Where Juliet Almost Crashes The Car

"I'm sorry, Dean. I swear, I didn't see the truck until last minute. I wasn't looking, I-I know, and I-I'm sorry, r-really sorry. Fuck, I'm sorry."

"Are you okay?"

• • •

Twenty year old Juliet looks up at Dean with the puppy eyes, a pout on her full lips as she flutters her eyelashes to try and persuade him to let her drive the Impala.

The young huntress has been pestering her boyfriend all day to let her drive the impala, she knows that Baby is his most prized possesion but she's not that bad a driver, she's drove John's truck a couple of times. Yes, she may not be that experienced in driving but she's not that bad.

"C'mon Dean, I promise I won't crash the car. It will be fun! We can get Sammy to watch Harls for us. We would be five minutes, tops."

Dean looks up from watching Harlow sleep, the two year old's little chest rises and falls with each little breath. The twenty-three year old smiles a small smile as Harlow snuggles into her blanket as 'Ellie the elephant' sits at the end of her crib.

His green eyes flick up to Juliet, once more and as his green eyes meet her brown ones, he instantly caves with a sigh.

"Alright, alright, fine."

The hunter fishes out his car keys from the back pocket of his ripped demin jeans before looking to the kitchen area of the motel where Sam sits at the table, some law textbook in front of him.

"Sammy."

The said Winchester brother turns to Dean, peeved that he's interrupting his reading. He raises an eyebrow at his brother, silently asking what he wants.

Sam watches as Dean motions to Harlow's sleeping figure, "You mind watching her for a few minutes?" Sam sighs as he gets up from the table, not exactly thrilled with the task of babysitting.

He's nineteen, he'd rather be sticking his head in a textbook than watch over a kid but he sighs.

'She's a baby. How bad can she be?'

Sam relents with a nod of his head but a question pops into his mind, a question he shares with his brother and best friend.

"Sure, but what do I do if she wakes up?"

Juliet smiles as she points to the fridge, "If she wakes up there's a bottle of milk in the fridge, that should lull her back to sleep." Sam shakes his head, "I don't know how to feed her. What if she needs changing?"

Dean is the one to answer the second question his little brother fires at them.

"Dude, I literally just changed not five minutes ago."

Juliet nods her head, "Besides, if there's any trouble you can just call us."

Sam nods his head, "Where are you going?"

The smile on Juliet's face widens so much that Dean is scared if she smiles anymore, she'll split her face in two.

"Dean's gonna let me drive the impala."

Hearing this, Sam's eyes widen as he looks to Dean, rasing a skeptical eyebrow.

"Really? You never let anyone drive that car, not since dad gave it to you."

Dean shrugs his shoulders, "She pulled the puppy eyes on me, man. She knows I can't say no to that."

Sam's eyes flick to Juliet, the huntress gives him an exaggerated wink as the one corner of her lips start to twitch into a smirk. The expression causes a hint of a smile to appear on Sam's lips.

"Okay, I'll watch Harlow."

Juliet smiles as she wraps Sam up in a hug.

"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you."

Sam can't help but let out a small laugh as he reciprocates the hug.

Dean smiles at the two of them, happy that Sam didn't argue back like he normaly does.

They've been butting heads a lot recently, mostly over hunting and how John isn't around, but then again, if John was here, it would be Sam and their dad arguing while Dean tries and gets between them while Juliet sooths Harlow as she cries due to all the shouting.

Family, no one said it would be easy but at least they're all together...most of the time.

Juliet then makes her way back to Dean and grabs his hand in hers as they make their way out the door.

Sam smiles at the two, hoping to one day have what they have. To be in love with someone and have a kid but Sam would make sure that it would be different, that he wouldn't bring up his child to be a hunter, they would be normal with a house and white picket fence.

The wistful smile is wiped off his face as soon as the motel door shuts, Harlow's cries can be heard. He looks down to the crib where his baby niece lays, crying as the sound of the door closing, wakes her up.

Sam sighs, "What did they say again?"

Juliet lightly shivers as the coldness ices her bones. Dean notices this and looks to his girlfriend and mother of his child.

"You cold?"

Juliet looks to him as she does up the zipper on her jacket to protect her from the crisp, yet bitter, November air. She shakes her head, feeling a bit warmer from doing up her winter jacket.

"No. Feel much better now."

Dean nods as they stop, having arrived to the car.

Dean walks around to the passengers side as Juliet stands at the drivers side, waiting for the older Winchester brother to hand her the keys. She watches as Dean gives her a pointed look whilst holding the car keys.

"All I ask is please don't crash the car or dad will kill me."

Juliet sighs as she rolls her eyes. She jokingly raises her right hand, as if she was standing in court and taking an oath.

"I swear, I will not crash the car. Scouts honor."

Dean looks at her, his expression deadpan as he knows she isn't taking him seriously.

"I mean it, Juliet. I don't want a scratch on this car."

Juliet huffs in annoyance, "Okay, okay. Jeez, with the way you're talking, it seems like you love this car more than me."

Dean's expression softens, "You know that's not true and you also know I was serious when I said that dad would kill me if a scratch was on this car."

Juliet smiles as she nods her head, "I know, I was only teasing."

Dean smiles before throwing her the car keys, which she catches with ease, before opening the passenger side door but before getting into the car, he looks to Juliet with amusement dancing in his light green eyes. "Besides, we both know I love Harlow more." Juliet's mouth is agape in shock but before she can say anything, Dean gets in the car and shuts the door. However, a smile dances on the corners of her lips as she hears Dean's laughter from inside the car, letting her know he's only teasing.

With a shake of her head, Juliet gets into the car and starts her up before pulling onto the road and driving off to a vacant space where she can drive freely.

Juliet smiles as she puts her left foot down on the break peddle, making the car come to a hault.

They've stopped on a long stretch road, deserted. The perfect place for Juliet to drive Baby.

She looks up from the steering wheel and meets Dean's eyes, he smiles as her brown eyes reflect a certain spark of excitement at being allowed to drive the impala, the hunter feels his own heart start to flutter at seeing his girlfriend so excited. He just hopes he hasn't made the wrong decision by allowing her to do this.

Juliet rolls her eyes, knowing where Dean's thoughts have gone.

"Will you stop worrying, I've got this."

Dean winces as a thought pops into his head.

'Famous last words.'

The Winchester brother dares not say anything in front of Juliet, don't get it twisted, he has faith in her and trusts her, of course he does. If it came down to it, he would put his life in her hands but when it comes to driving, although he won't say anything to her face, he knows she doesn't have a best track record with vehicles. Ask his dad and brother.

The oldest Winchester brother shakes his head, as if he's getting rid of his worried thoughts before they can escalate into something bigger and he'd be tempted to just to take over and turn the car around.

"I'm not worried, this is fine."

Juliet smiles and nods her head, "Okay, then you wouldn't mind if I throttle it."

Dean's eyes widen as the brunette does just that, she puts her foot down on the accelerator which causes the Impala to lurch foward as the engine roars to life. Worry flashes across Dean's eyes as Juliet drives foward, he really curses the car for not having seatbelts as he holds onto the dash with a vice like grip, like he's holding on for dear life. He looks to the brunette, a for a split second, fear flashes across his eyes at her bad driving.

"Hey, hon? Maybe you should slow down?"

Juliet laughs, "What? No way. This is fun."

Dean swears under his breath as Juliet continues to cruise down the road, going full speed. He should have known that Juliet would drive fast, it's what she's loved to do ever since she was a kid. The amount of times he remembers her asking John to speed up the car, heck, even when the car was passed down to him, Juliet would continue to ask him to put his foot down on the gas, and he admits, he gave into her wishes but that was before Harlow was born and he'd rather live to see her turn three.

His eyes widen as he spots a truck up ahead, driving down the road, heading straight for them.

Dean flicks his eyes to Juliet and judging by how wide her eyes are, he knows she has clocked the car as well.

Without thinking, Dean grabs the steering wheel, causing the impala to miss the truck by an inch. Dean goes to sigh in relief but flinches as he hears a scrape, as well as a smashing sound, against the back of the impala.

Dean's actions causes the Impala spin out of controll, for just a second.

"Put your foot down on the brakes, now!"

Juliet does as he boyfriend says and jams her foot down on the brakes of the car. Her chest heaves up and down which each ragged breath as the car screeches to a hault. The huntress feels tears brim in her eyes for almost crashing the car, it turns out that maybe Dean had a good reason to worry.

The huntress tries to control her breathing but as soon as she turns to Dean, she bursts into tears.

"I'm sorry, Dean. I swear, I didn't see the truck until last minute. I wasn't looking, I-I know, and I-I'm sorry, r-really sorry. Fuck, I'm sorry."

Dean looks up and meets her brown eyes but the look on his face shocks the huntress, instead of the looks of anger or hate being on his face, a look of concern is and that causes Juliet to pause.

"Are you okay?"

Juliet furrows her eyebrows in confusion.

"I-I'm fine. Aren't you angry at me? I-I mean the car."

Dean shakes his head as he takes her hands in his, trying to calm her down and he does. It still amazes Juliet how just his touch alone, is enough to make her heart stutter in her chest as well as calm her down so quickly.

"I don't care about the car. Are you sure you're okay?"

Juliet nods her head but it seems that's not a good enough answer for Dean, as he moves his hands to check her face for any cuts, after making sure she has no injuries, Dean sighs in relief. Juliet winces as a thought pops into her head, she turns to Dean and voices that said thought.

"I think we should check the outside of the Impala, just incase as I heard a metal scraping against metal sound followed by a smash."

Dean nods his head as the two exit the car and walk 'round to the back of the Impala.

Dean sighs at the damage, noticing the left backlight of the Impala is screwed.

Juliet swallows the lump in her throat as she also clocks that the tailight of the car is smashed. There's also a scartch underneat the left tailight. She kisses her teeth.

"I'm sorry, Dean."

The Winchester brother sighs at hearing the waver in her voice and is quick to wrap an arm around her waist and bring her in close to him, kissing her on her head to reassure her.

"It's fine. Dad's gonna kill me but it's fine."

Juliet shakes her head, "I'll take the fall for it. I mean, it is my fault." It's Dean's turn to shake his head, "Juliet, no. It was my mistake, I'll take the fall for it."

It's then a light goes off in Juliet's head, an idea.

"Or...neither of us have to take the fall. We could just tell John that a drunk driver crashed into the car while it was parked."

Dean tilts his head in curiousity at Juliet's idea.

"Surely Dad would know, I mean he would just kick off and demand to know who did it."

Juliet smirks as she shakes her head, "No, he won't. Not if we say we didn't get a very good look at the guy and I'm sure, if I remind John the reasons as to why he can't look into it, he'd let it go."

Dean sighs before relenting, "Fair enough but if it goes wrong, it's on your head."

Juliet smiles as she waves her hand in front of her face, "It'll be fine."

Dean shakes his head, "You said that about driving the car–" He motions to the busted taillight and the scratch. "–then look what happened."

Juliet rolls her eyes.

"You worry too much."

Dean nods his head, "That maybe so. Either way, I'm driving."

Juliet sighs but hands Dean the keys

Author's Note

And that's the second One shot published!

I hope you enjoyed. It's a bit longer than the previous one but I hope you love it all the same.

Now, disclaimer: I've never driven a car in my life, so I have no idea about the ins and outs of what makes a car tick, so I've tried my best to write what I can. Now I probably got some, if not all, things wrong but it's a fanfic, not everything is going to be perfect.

Please feel free to request one shots, could be of moments you'd like to see between Dean and Juliet, could be of Harlow (older or younger) can be literally anything. Whether it's Dean and Juliet in their younger years or if it's them in their older years, I don't mind.

I hope you have a good day/evening. Please don't forget to vote and comment as both are very much appreciated.

Until next time...
