There's Always Hope (Floorette)
Sequel to 'Why You?'
~~~~~~
Anette was just getting ready to go to bed when she heard someone knocking at the front door. Who would be coming this late, she had no idea. She went into the living room and pulled back the curtains. When she caught sight of the person on the porch, she immediately knew who it was.
It was Floor.
Floor saw Anette looking out the window and waved to her. Anette closed the curtain, wondering if she should answer the door. But Floor knocked again, and she instinctively moved to answer it.
"I wasn't sure if you would answer when you saw it was me," Floor said.
"Well, here I am," Anette replied. "Do you know what time it is?"
"Yeah, I know it's late, but I felt like I really had to see you. I hate the way we left things, and there's something I need to tell you. It's important."
Anette hesitated before stepping aside and saying, "Come in. The boys already went to bed, so be quiet."
"Right." Floor stepped inside. "Um, how have you been?"
Anette shrugged. "Good enough. My solo career isn't going too bad so far. How are you doing with Nightwish?"
"That's what I wanted to tell you," Floor said. "I'm not in the band anymore."
"You're not?" Anette asked. "But I thought-"
"I was in the band, but it didn't feel right. Like, it just wasn't working out. So, that was kind of the end of it. I'm moving on. I was meaning to start working on another ReVamp album, anyway."
"And...the first thing you thought was to come tell me?"
"Yes, of course my first instinct was to come see you," Floor answered. "You deserve to be one of the first to know about it, and I wanted you to hear it from me. When I first fell for you, you were the frontwoman, and I never expected to be part of the band. But I was so drawn towards it all, and I found myself really wanting to be the new frontwoman. I know that's not an excuse for hurting you, but it's the truth. When I asked you meet me at the café, I could see the hurt in your eyes. You felt like I betrayed you, and I understand that. So, yeah, I felt like you should have been the first person to know."
Anette wasn't sure she trusted herself to speak. All her feelings came rushing back when she looked at Floor, and she wanted to just forgive her and put it all behind them.
"Um, I think maybe I should go," Floor said. "I'm sorry I couldn't get here an earlier time. I can walk myself to the door."
"No, it's okay," Anette said. "How long are you going to be in the area?"
"I'm not sure. I think I would like to stay for a bit."
"Then could you come back at an earlier time next time?" Anette asked. "Maybe when I'm not in my pajamas?"
Floor smiled and kissed her. "I'll come at the stroke of dawn if you want." She took off down the street, turning back to wave again before disappearing.
Anette smiled to herself while watching her go, and then closed the door again.
