Homecoming (Tolissa)
Alissa White-Gluz dreaded the long plane ride. It wasn't that she had any problem with flying, but that it would so long for her to get home. She had already been gone for a while, and she didn't want to have to spend anymore time away from Tommy.
Before her plane took off, she texted him, On board now. Be home soon!
Almost immediately after, he replied, Can't wait! I'll be there!
Alissa smiled when she saw it. She had already told him what time her flight was supposed to get in, so she knew he would be waiting for her when she arrived.
In the end, the flight didn't seem as long as it was, because Alissa spent most of it staring out the window and thinking about Tommy. He was such a great person, an awesome boyfriend, and she didn't know how she had gotten so lucky. It was like he was her perfect match, and now that she had time, they had bigger things to get ready for.
Sure enough, Tommy was waiting for her at the airport when she arrived. When she saw him, she ran to him and threw her arms around. He picked her up and spun around, and then kissed her after he had put her down again.
"I'm glad you're home," he said. "I missed you."
"So am I," Alissa replied, "And so did I. Don't think I didn't feel the same. Come on, let's go."
They left the airport hand-in-hand. Tommy put Alissa's suitcase in the trunk of his car, and the two drove off.
"So, anywhere you want to go?" Tommy asked. "Or should we just go home?"
Alissa shook her head. "I just want to go home. I want to have time just you and me."
"That's what I was hoping you would say." Tommy seemed to pause like he wanted to say something else but wasn't sure if he should. Then he said, "So, since you're home now, I thought maybe we could start officially making plans. You know, set a date, pick a time and place. We haven't really gotten a chance for all that yet."
Alissa looked down at the ring on her finger. It was true that she had sort of left Tommy hanging after he proposed to her. They hadn't made any real plans for a wedding yet.
"I know," she said. "I'm sorry I didn't make plans with you sooner. But I promised myself that as soon as I came home, we would start planning everything together."
"Of course you did." Tommy smiled. "So, what do you think of a spring wedding?"
Alissa shrugged. "It might rain that day. What about summer?"
"Could be too hot. And we don't know it'll rain."
Alissa sighed. "Oh, this is going to take a while."
"Well, you did say you have the time," Tommy pointed out.
She smiled. "Yeah, I did, didn't I? It's a good thing we're going straight home. We'll have plenty of time to figure everything out together."
