Ch.10 Flashback light

~Y/n pov~

We had yet again opened up another area of the school. I wonder if I'll ever find my research lab and what it'd be like.

Monokuma had gone bald too and was acting up so the monokubs took over.

I decided to explore Korekiyo's research lab along with Kokichi and Shuichi.

Korekiyo picked up a book, "As I thought... amazing! This is the real thing isn't it?"

Shuichi nervously approached him, "What is that book?"

Kiyo grinned because Shuichi had taken an interest.

I stepped closer to listen to him talk about the book, not realising Kokichi was messing with some of the old stuff in here.

"This is..an incredibly precious piece of literature." Kiyo exclaimed, "The history of Kagoinu village is gathered here, dating back at least two hundred years ago."

"Kagoinu village?" I asked curiously.

Kiyo began to explain, "Kagoinu village was reputed, especially for its witchcraft and charms. But the feudal lots at the time feared those mysterious powers, and they destroyed the village....the only surviving member of the village, a girl, secretly put together this book over the coarse of her lifetime. In other words... this entire thing is handwritten by that girl."

"There's only one in the entire world...it really is valuable." Shuichi stated.

I nodded, curiously looking around the room.

While Shuichi and Kiyo continued to talk, I noticed Kokichi had picked up the golden katana and started to mess with it.

Kiyo got angry and made him put it down.

Kokichi cowered behind me sniffling, "You're so mean! You're scary when you're angry."

His sniffles stopped just as quickly as they started as he beamed at them, "This'll be fun!~"

The purple haired boy grabbed my arm and dragged me off somewhere else.

We tried to open a plain door, but it was lock, so we quickly gave up.

When we came round the corner, I noticed Shuichi trying to open this colourful door but it seemed locked.

"The door around the corner was also locked." I commented.

Shuichi jumped, looking at us startled.

"Not to worry!~" Kokichi beamed, "I'll show you my special attack."

He bent down in front of the lock and pulled out a lockpick.

Just as he was about to start lockpicking, the door flew open and Kokichi jumped back, hastily stuffing the lockpick back into his pocket.

Angie smiled at us, "Heya! Need something?"

"Angie?" Shuichi asked.

"Why don't we go inside and talk?" I suggested but it sounded more like a command.

"Come in and check it out." Angie smiled like always.

Come to think of it, I've never seen Angie not smile, it's a bit unnerving.

The room was quite spacious, various sculpting and art supplies scattered around the room. The middle area was pretty clear though.

Shuichi was the first to talk, "Why are there locks?"

"Atua is shy, so he only does work when Angie is around. That's why I need to lock the door when I do my art." Angie smiled, acting like she didn't say something completely incomprehensible.

Shuichi and Angie talked for a bit, as I trailed around the room.

I eventually got bored and left.

Footsteps sounded behind me, before someone crashed into me with an oof.

"Leave me behind with Shuichi and the weirdo why don't you!" Kokichi huffed, pouting at me.

I laughed, reaching my hand up to gently ruffle his hair, "Sorry, sorry."

We walked for a bit, before I noticed a hole in the wall that wasn't there before.

"Shuichi must've found a new area." I commented, stepping through the hole and finding myself in the hallway.

At the end of the hallway was a door.

I entered the room, Kokichi following closely behind me.

It looked to be some sort of computer room.

My eyes quickly spotted Shuichi, he was stood beside a red box that was open and in his hands was a flashback light.

Kokichi quickly jumped towards him, dragging me along, "Oooh~ you found another flashback light."

"We should probably inform everyone and go meet in the dining hall."

"That's exactly what I was thinking N/n! Can you read my mind?" Kokichi asked cheerfully.

He didn't even wait for a response before he sprinted off to get the others.

"Let's let Kokichi get the others, he's always full of so much energy. Let's just go to the dining hall." I told Shuichi.

Shuichi nodded, "Right."

Keebo confronted Shuichi immediately, "Is it true you found the flashback light?"

Shuichi nodded.

"So that means Kokichi was telling the truth. That's a surprise!" Tenko laughed nervously.

I glanced around, "Some people still aren't here, but when they arrive we'll have to discuss whether or not to use the flashback light. I don't really care either way.."

Everyone nodded in agreement.

"Oh yeah." Kokichi suddenly started talking, "Maki won't be coming, since I didn't invite her."

"You didn't invite her?"

Kokichi completely ignored Shuichi and continued talking, "By the way, Keeboy, Miu, did you see the computer room on the fourth floor?"

"Huh, computer room?" Miu asked, slightly interested.

"Ah, I'm not good with computers." Keebo stated.

"Keeboy you're so useless. Everyone thinks so too." Kokichi smiled teasingly.

Keebo frowned but didn't say anything.

It was then that Kaito and Maki turned up.

So she came after all..

"Yo sorry to keep you waiting." Kaito stated.

"M-maki? Why is Maki with you?!" Tenko jumped into a defensive stance, shaking slightly with fear.

"We're talking about the flashback light, right?" Kaito nodded to himself, "So everyone gotta be here."

Everyone talked with Maki for a while, before they had calmed down.

Shuichi flipped on the flashback light.

~*~

"They were so young and talented....how could something like this happen?"

"They said it...was an accident. Apparently it happened running away from those people."

"Was it really just an accident? I can't bring myself to think so at all."

I was at my own funeral. It was everyone's funeral. All seventeen of our pictures were there.

~*~

"Did I just see my own funeral!?"

That was the first thing I heard as I snapped out of the flashback.

"Huh, you too Shuichi?" Tsumugi panicked.

"W-what the fuck was that?" Miu exclaimed.

I sighed, "This gives us more questions than answers. The only thing I remember is the funeral and nothing else. The flashbacks don't really connect."

"We are alive though.." Kaito rubbed the back of his neck, "It was probably a culture festival or something."

"Culture festival? N-Nyeh...you're probably right." Himiko agreed.

Eventually, we all headed back to our rooms.
