Chapter 8- Girl Meets The CHRISTMAS SPECIAL Part 2
"Come on guys, just drop it, ok? She doesn't have to say anything if she doesn't want to", said Chloe.
"Chloe, don't you want to know why?", asked Ava.
"I just don't think we should pressure her", said Chloe.
"We aren't. We just want to help", said Ava. She turned to look at Maya. "You know that, right? We don't want to pressure you."
Maya nodded. "I know, Ava. It's ok."
Chloe frowned, leaning against the wall again.
Everyone had moved their desks out of the way and sat on the floor, leaning against the wall or each other.
"I...I overheard his brother, one day. He was picking on Auggie-", started Maya.
"- Wait, what?", asked Riley, shocked.
"Cody's brother was teasing Auggie because of... something. He picked on him because of how much he liked Ava as well. I don't know why it bothered his brother so much but it did. I can't pick on a little kid so I figured, I should teach his brother a lesson for not stopping him", explained Maya.
Farkle frowned. "Maya...I know your heart was in the right place but you can't just hurt people, especially if that's the reason."
"I know. Farkle, if you had known the reason, would you still have helped me?", asked Maya.
"Well, I would've tried to talk you out of it", said Farkle.
"Why didn't you ask me the reason first then?", she asked, curiously.
Farkle stayed quiet. Why didn't he ask? "Well I...I guess I just believed it was important to you."
"Sometimes the things that are important to us, are worth fighting for", said Smackle, looking at her hands before looking up at the others. "Even if it isn't necessarily the right thing to do."
Maya looked at Smackle, holding her gaze for a few seconds. "I guess you're right."
"Of course she is. She's Smackle", said Zay, trying to make everyone laugh.
"Zay why did you help?", asked Maya.
Zay didn't speak for a couple of minutes. When he finally spoke, he looked at Lucas. "I thought about all the times Lucas had my back", he said, before looking at Maya. "I thought it was about time I was more than the clown of the group. I wanted to be a true friend. Like Lucas."
"Zay, true friends don't have to pull pranks to prove their worth", said Riley.
Lucas nodded in agreement. "Riley's right Zay. Texas Lucas cost me so much. I finally got this Lucas to work but it took me so long. Texas Lucas isn't a true friend, Zay. My intentions might have been good but I'd never want you to be like me. You're Zay."
"You can be the group clown and a true friend at the same time", said Chloe.
"Yeah, just like Riley's the Group Mom and the adorable clutz", said Ava, laughing a little.
Everyone chuckled.
"That's me in a nutshell", smiled Riley.
Zay smiled. "You're right. Maya, I'm sorry for not stopping you."
Maya shook your head. "Don't be sorry, Zay."
"What about you Riley? I mean I think we can all guess but why'd you let Maya do it?", asked Camilla.
Everyone looked at Riley.
Instead of answering immediately, Riley stayed silent.
"Wait you're thinking about this? Riley she's your girlfriend and best friend, aren't those good enough reasons?", asked Camilla.
After a few seconds, Riley spoke. "I knew something would go wrong. I wanted to be there because I knew it would go wrong and whenever things go wrong for Maya, I'm there."
Maya looked at Riley, furrowing her eyebrows. "But if you stopped me, nothing would've gone wrong."
Riley looked into Maya's eyes. "You're Maya Hart. When you want something, when you believe in something so much, nothing and no one can stop you."
"I know. That's why I don't blame you guys. No one can stop...", said Maya, letting her words trail off.
"Sabby McGee?", suggested Riley, which made a small smile appear on Maya's face.
"Yeah... no one can stop Sabby McGee."
"But we could've tried. You can't just blame yourself. Riley, Lucas, Zay and I were all involved. This isn't just your fault", said Farkle. "And what kind of friend would I be if I let you believe it was?"
Maya smiled. "Thanks, Farkle."
Smackle gently wrapped her arm around Farkle's, looking up at him with a smile before resting her head on his shoulder.
Farkle smiled and put his head against hers for a few seconds, before lifting it up again so she wasn't uncomfortable.
"What now? Do we shout 'Open Sesame' or something?", asked Maya.
"Oh like in Home Alone? That's my favourite Christmas Movie!", exclaimed Camilla.
"I'm a massive fan of Love, Actually", smiled Riley.
"Of course you are Riley", grinned Lucas. "You're such a romantic."
Riley laughed. "Yeah, I guess you're right."
"I'm with Camilla. Kevin's so smart, fighting off the burglars using his brain", said Smackle.
"And a bunch of traps", added Zay.
The trio did an elaborate 3 way handshake.
"How did you...", started Lucas, shocked.
"Sorry, this is something only Home Alone fans can do", said Zay.
"This is the Bay Window Loser/Winner thing all over again!", yelled Farkle and Lucas in unison, which made everyone laugh.
"We'd always have a Christmas Movie Marathon on Christmas Eve", smiled Camilla.
"That sounds like so much fun!", smiled Riley.
"It is! It's a tradition for us", smiled Camilla.
"Well I hope we can continue that tradition when I come over", said Lucas.
"Of course we can", smiled Camilla.
"Are you two spending Christmas together?", asked Zay.
"We're doing it separately but I'm going over to hers after our Christmas Dinner", clarified Lucas.
Zay nodded. "Cool, I'm happy for you man."
Lucas smiled. He patted him on the back. "Dude, you're still allowed to come over for our family dinner."
"Yesss!", exclaimed Zay, jumping into Lucas.
"Zay get off!", yelled Lucas, laughing a little.
"This brings back memories", joked Zay, which made everyone laugh.
After Zay had calmed down, Riley turned to Smackle.
"What are you doing for Christmas? Spending it with Farkle?", asked Riley.
"My sister's are coming, including Claire. Farkle said he had a surprise for me after, so I'm a bit nervous", admitted Smackle.
"A surprise! That's nice!", smiled Riley. "Don't be nervous, I'm sure it'll be great."
"I don't doubt that. I just... I'm not really a big fan of surprises. It just makes me feel better when I know what's going to happen", said Smackle, truthfully.
Farkle gently held her hands in his. "I know surprises aren't your thing, Smackle. I promise you'll love it though."
Smackle smiled. "Ok...I trust you."
Farkle smiled and rested his head against Smackle's briefly, looking into her eyes.
"Too much cuteness, too much cuteness!", yelled Zay, covering his eyes.
Smackle gave him one of her famous looks, which made everyone laugh.
"Besides, you've dealt with much bigger surprises", reminded Maya.
"You can say that again!", laughed Zay.
No one had noticed that Chloe had gone towards the door.
Ava stopped laughing and saw Chloe. "Chlo, what are you doing?"
Chloe quickly turned around, plastering on a smile as everyone looked at her. "Oh, I... I thought I heard someone so I looked through the door. Got it wrong though."
Ava nodded, running a hand through her hair. "Oh, well come and sit back down then, you can tell us your Christmas Plans."
Chloe sat down, looking slightly hesitant.
"Do you have any traditions?", asked Riley.
Chloe shook her head. "Um, no... not really. We just do the basics."
"The basics?", asked Camilla, curious.
"Y-Yeah like... have Christmas Dinner and we have Christmas Crackers too. We... we look for the worst joke", said Chloe.
Everyone smiled.
"That sounds fun", smiled Ava.
"Yeah, hey, maybe that could be a tradition. See who gets the worst joke?", suggested Lucas.
"Yeah...maybe", said Chloe.
Before anyone could say anything else, there was a loud knock. Everyone turned to face the door and saw Mr. Matthews.
"Finally!", exclaimed Maya, standing up. "Matthews, I'm sorry for pulling the prank. I really am. Can you let us out so I can find Cody? I want to apologise."
Mr. Matthews smiled. "That's great Maya! But um... there's a reason why I'm knocking and not just opening the door straight away."
"What's the reason?", asked Riley, standing up too.
"The door's stuck!"
