Chapter 7- Girl Meets The CHRISTMAS SPECIAL Part 1

(Hi! I'm not back properly and this book won't be continued but I wanted to do a Christmas Special. This is set before the finale spoiler thing I posted about AGES ago. Part 1 and 2 are coming out on Christmas Eve and Part 3 is coming out on Christmas Day. I hope you like it!)

December 22nd

The Group were in History Class, staring at Mr. Matthews, who was pacing up and down.

"Slow down there Matthews, you're making me dizzy", said Maya.

Mr. Matthews glared at her for a few seconds. "Good! I can't believe you guys! Pulling that prank on Cody like that! They're saying his eyebrows will never grow back."

Maya shrugged. "He brought it on himself. If he was a nicer person then...", said Maya, trailing off at the end.

"You keep saying that but what did he actually do Maya?", asked Mr. Matthews.

"Just general jerk stuff, Matthews", shrugged Maya.

Riley furrowed her eyebrows im confusion. "Wait, peaches, what actually happened?"

"You mean you all got involved without knowing why?", asked Mr. Matthews, in disbelief.

Lucas shook his head. "No, Smackle, Ava, Chloe and Camilla didn't get involved."

"Then how come you guys did?", asked Mr. Matthews, looking at Riley, Farkle, Zay, Lucas and Maya.

"Because we don't like bullies. Look, Sir, we just wanted to teach him a lesson. You know, show him that bullying ain't cool", explained Zay.

"Yeah, we never meant to hurt anyone", frowned Lucas.

Mr. Matthews looked at Farkle. "And you, Farkle? I never knew you'd do something like that."

Farkle frowned before looking at Mr. Matthews. "Mr. Matthews, I go where my friends go. If they fall, I fall."

"So do you think that those that didn't get involved aren't worthy of your friendship?", questioned Mr. Matthews.

Shock spread across Farkle's face. "Of course that's not what I'm saying! I just... I'm sorry for hurting Cody as much as we did but I don't regret standing by my friends."

"That's it though, Farkle. You're not standing by them, you're standing with them and right now, that's not a good position to be in", said Mr. Matthews.

"Dad why are you doing this? We said we're sorry and we all feel awful. It's Christmas Break why do we have to come in to school?", asked Riley.

"Because of the prank! This is the punishment you've been given. And I'm sorry that it had to affect those of you who weren't involved", explained Mr. Matthews.

"It's alright, Mr. Matthews. My parents are abroad. My Gran's looking after me and she's not a fan of Christmas so I'm not missing much", said Ava.

Riley turned to face her. "I thought you and Uncle Josh were going to do something on one of the days before Christmas?"

Ava frowned, gently shaking her head. "He had to cancel. Too much college stuff to do."

"Mr. Matthews, when can we go? Naya's babysitter has plans soon", said Zay.

"I'll arrange another baby sitter for you", said Mr. Matthews.

Maya's eyes widened. "Why does he need another baby sitter? Are you keeping us in?"

Mr. Matthews nodded. "Yes, Miss Hart, I am. Until you learn that what you did was wrong, none of you are leaving this classroom."

The room erupted into murmers and grumbles of protest.

"Wait, you called me Miss Hart", said Maya, a shocked expression on her face.

"Yes, I did. That's how serious this is", replied Mr. Matthews.

Everyone looked at each other, speechless.

"You broke him", said Zay, in disbelief.

Mr. Matthews left the room, locking it afterwards.

Zay sat on the floor, leaning against the desk. "How long has it been?"

"One minute", responded Farkle.

"One minute?!", exclaimed Zay.

"One minute", repeated Farkle.

"We're all gonna die", cried Zay.

"Maybe we can all play a game or something", suggested Riley.

"I don't think it's the time for games Riley", said Maya, groaning as she leaned back in her chair.

Riley frowned. "I'm just trying to help, Maya. Unless you wanted to talk about the real reason for pranking Cody?"

"What game did you have in mind?", sighed Maya.

"Maya come on. Just tell the truth!", shouted Camilla, not in an angry tone.

"Guys let's just leave it, ok?", asked Chloe, rubbing her forehead.

"Are you ok, Chlo?", asked Ava, a comcerned look on her face.

"I'm fine", she replied, a small smile, empty smile on her face.

Ava raised her eyebrow in disbelief but was cut off before she could speak.

"I wonder who we'll end up eating first?", asked Zay, clearly thinking out loud.

Everyone turned to look at him.

"What? It's a pretty valid question", he said, defensively.

"No it isn't. Mr. Matthews isn't going to let us starve. Don't worry, Zay", said Smackle. After a few seconds, she spoke again. "But you'd be the last person I'd eat."

Zay let out a small laugh. "Ah Smackle, always joking. I reckon I'd taste delicious."

"With the amount of smoothies you drink, we'd all get tooth decay", joked Farkle, making everyone laugh.

"I think I'd get eaten first. I'm relatively healthy and way cleaner than Zay", said Lucas, giving him an amused look.

"You're acting like I rub mud all over my body every morning", said Zay.

"I don't think we'd eat Lucas. He'd be the one that would keep us all sane", said Riley.

Lucas smiled. "Thanks Riley."

"Um hey, I think the sanity keeper is me", argued Farkle, not angrily.

"Farkle you know I care about you but I'm with Riley on this one", said Smackle.

Lucas cheered. "Yes! That's two votes."

"Hands up if Lucas is the sanest", shouted Zay.

Ava and Camilla raised their hands.

"Sorry Farkle", said Ava, sincerely.

"My vote was with Farkle but then I realised that would mean that Lucas would be eaten", explained Camilla.

Lucas hugged Camilla. "If that isn't loyalty I don't know what is."

"Uh wait hold on, Chloe and Maya haven't voted", said Farkle.

"Oh yeah. Who votes Farkle?", asked Zay.

Both Chloe and Maya put their hands up.

"Sorry Lucas", apologised Chloe.

"Don't worry, it's fine", said Lucas, wiping away a fake tear.

"I just think I'd be able to tolerate Farkle more than Huckleberry", admitted Maya.

"Wow, that hurt", said Lucas, putting a hand over his heart.

Farkle laughed. "I knew Maya would be on my side."

"Maya are you ready to tell us the truth about the prank now?", asked Riley.

Maya's face fell. "We were all having fun, Riley. Why'd you have to ruin the moood?"

Riley frowned. "Look, as much as I love you all, I don't want to spend Christmas locked in this classroom!"

"He's not going to keep us in for that long!", exclaimed Maya.

"This is Mr. Matthews we're talking about", reminded Camilla.

"He wouldn't keep us here, he wouldn't", said Maya.

"Maybe that's what he thought about us", said Ava.

Everyone turned to look at her.

"What do you mean?", asked Maya, confused.

"Well, he was probably in shock when he found out what happened with Cody. Maybe he wants to teach us a lesson", suggested Ava.

"Of course he wants to teach us a lesson but what lesson?", asked Maya.

"That people surprise you? Just when you think you know someone, they surprise you. I- I don't know", guessed Ava.

Silence filled the room, consuming every last shred of sound.

"So what you're saying is...Matthews doesn't even know you I am anymore? I shocked him that much?", asked Maya, taken aback.

The silence became too much for Maya.

"Just tell me, come on, is that the reason?"

Riley looked at Maya, a concerned look on her face. "Maya...do you remember the Maya in the park, with the brick and hammer?"

Maya looked at Riley, tears in her eyes. "Riley that's not me. I didn't use the brick or the hammer, remember?"

"I'm talking about before that. When you met up with those girls. When there was a point where you seriously considered using the brick", explained Riley.

"You think that Maya's coming back?", asked Maya.

Her only answer was the deafening silence.

"Maya, why did you want to prank Cody?", asked Riley.
