Chapter 5

After asking my kind friend Google, I finally found the ice rink. Stopping outside the door, I sighed, scared to go in. Remember what Ty said. Remember what Ty said. His text message was the only thing driving me at this point. Ding!

Good luck.

-Ty

I allowed myself a small smile. Why was it that a stranger, who sent notes and texts could brighten my day the power of two words? Why was he texting me? And as much as I would like to deny it, why did I yearn them, anticipate them?  Walking in, I shook my head, running a hair through my newly curled hair.  I spotted a familiar, slender figure doing a double Lutz in the middle of the ice rink. Normally, I would've internally wished that person luck in getting to championships but knowing that the place was deserted, I whooped and gave a shout of encouragement. Sophia Allison turned around and grinned, "Come join me, bet I could beat you any day."

Lacing up my boots, I smirked, shaking my head. I love my skates: they were simple, shiny and white with intricate gold and brown swirls. I stepped on to the ice, raising my eyebrow in challenge.

Sophia rolled her eyes, "Let's start easy." She started with a simple waltz jump. I rolled my eyes and competed with a triple salchow.

"Let's pull out the big guns then." She did a triple toe loop and a delayed Axel.

Ooh, she was good. I may be better. I did a mazurka before finishing with a double Axel. It had taken me ages to perfect that move. Nobody knew that I skated so I had to pluck up some courage to do it, hoping that she would be impressed. I thought it wouldn't work but Allison stared at me in awe, "How did you do that?"

I shrugged nonchalantly trying not to look like an over excited monkey,  "I could teach you if you want. I mean, I'm no expert."

Allison snorted, "Dude, just did a double Axel and a mazurka. I can't even do an Axel properly without proper technique."

I shook my head, Wasn't she supposed to hate me now? Most girls would just turn their backs in jealousy, however, Allison was now gushing about my talent. It made me laugh, "You'll be an expert by the time I finish with you."

Her eyes widened and she grinned like a seven year old, "Cool!"

I got into business mode wanting to make her happy, "Now, get into position." I ordered. She obediently watched as I instructed and demonstrated the mazurka. She tried but her edges weren't sharp and her core wasn't tight enough. I sighed and massaged my neck. It didn't seem like it, but the girl had potential. By the time I was finished with her, she would be at championship level. If she worked hard and put skating first, I saw no reason for her not be a world wide winner: championships and internationals. She could get herself a trophy. Maybe, I could help her with her future. And maybe, just maybe, I had made a new friend...
