Chapter 3

Finally it came. The dreaded, echoing sound of the knock from the front door.  I sighed and dragged myself up from my position on the bed and went down the stairs. My parents had left for the airport a few hours ago Josh had already opened the door and I could see the silhouettes of a boy and a girl. A very muscular boy and a very pretty girl. Oh no.

All three of them were conversing while I stood awkwardly in the hallway not daring to open my mouth and speak or let my brother know of my presence. He didn't need me to get in the way of his life. I didn't think they'd ever notice me until the slender brunette peeked behind Josh's back and spotted me.

"Hi there!" She squealed pushing past Josh with her silver bangles clashing, "I'm Sophia Alison, but you can call me Sophie or Ally!" I smiled weakly, immediately liking her, as I took in her red top, grey hoodie and wedged heels. Her make up was dark and her blue eyes shone with a contagious sort of excitement. She sounded like a hippie but there was a certain elegance in her posture and grace as she reached in to a hug which I returned as cheerfully as I could. I would never be able to match her standards and even though I liked her, she probably hated me already.

"And I'm Jason." He was clad in a varsity jacket and black jeans, he looked, well... gorgeous and handsome and incredibly hot and - his smirk told me a whole other story. He was irresistible and he knew it. I knew instantly we weren't going to be friends. He was the popular, big headed jock while I was the fat loner. I shook myself from my insecure thoughts and gave him a tight smile, "I'm Emma, nice to meet you."

"The pleasure is all mine," he replied smirking. I clenched my hands behind my back not wanting to punch him. I still worked out and surprise surprise, I'm sporty. If being sporty counts martial arts. If you're going to do something, might as well do it properly. Jason's grin widened as of he knew about my inner turmoil. He turned around and strode to the kitchen leaving me fuming. I didn't know why I was standing on the spot fuming and glaring at the wall like it had committed a crime.  The jerk! Making my house his and leaving my by myself. Was I always going top be the third wheel? I stomped after him, grabbing some water on the way, "Mi casa es su casa" I told him, sarcasm dripping of my words. He turned as I was chugging water like a boss and said something that I never wished to hear again , "I know. I will treat your house like my house seeing as I will be living here until your parents come back." I spat the water out of my mouth  soaking the kitchen counter as I screeched a high pitched "What?!!". I growled at the laughing boy in front of me and grabbed an egg smashing into his hair and smirking, "Well then mister, here's the rules. Don't breath too much air, don't take up too much space, don't be in my way and don't disgrace this house." He had stopped laughing by the end of my little lecture and was glaring at me.

It was as if we were in some kind of eye contest. We glowered at each other, his icy blue eyes boring into my deep, ocean blue ones. Suddenly, he tilted his head before grinning, I raised my eyebrows in disbelief. How could he still be grinning after I was obviously going to win our little staring contest? What I didn't know? There was an egg behind his back. When I found out? When he smashed it into my face, ruining the hours of time I spent carefully applying make up.

That was when I got angry. You did not. I repeat, you did not mess up my make up. It was a rule I made that even Josh didn't dare to break. Well, Mr Jason I'm So Awesome was going to get a taste of my wrath.

Trying to attack him was a fail as his reflexes were really good and spun around so I was the one dangling on the floor. Jason glared at me as he was obviously surprised at my attack. I smiled evilly, he was going to feel more like that if he was going to mess with me. I grabbed the open pasta bag from the counter and poured it all over his head. Now he had pasta and egg yolk on him. He growled and pinned me onto the water soaked floor.

"Are we interrupting something?" Sophie's curious voice was evident of a smirk. What was it with everyone and smirks today?

We both stood up, brushing remnants of food off ourselves. I guess I wasn't the only one who needed to keep a good impression. I spat a "No" to the question while Jason replied with a "Yes", giving the answer to his sister with a big side dish of grin. Josh raised his eyebrows at me and I scoffed. Storming out the room, I put on my best annoyed face, not forgetting to flash a g;are at Jason, who again, was giving me his famous know it all smirk. There was only one thing on my head as I opened the door to my room:

Welcome to hell.
