Chapter 2

I didn't get to ponder about the message too long as I heard my parents calling, "Em, Come down stairs!"

Thoughts still raced through my head as I slowly made my way down stairs. What did that message mean? How did he know that I was moving? No one from my old place was moving as well. Why was he sending a note now? I hadn't  heard from him in ages. I didn't know the answer to any of my questions. But I did Know one thing...

He was back...

When I reached downstairs, I saw everyone inside the kitchen. The kitchen had been refurbished before we had come so the white and azure coloured cupboards shone in the sunlight. It reminded me of the blue locket I wore, given to me by my Grandmother. It was the locket that held the last message from Ty. The last message until today.

"So, kids," My dad's gruff voice broke my train of thought, "Your mother and I," He squeezed my mother's shoulders, "Are going to Spain for the holidays and because we trust you,"

My mother carried on, "You will be staying on your own."

My brother Josh jumped up in the air, and whooped in delight while I sighed. My parents were the type that didn't care what you did or where you were only if you kept your grades up and didn't ruin the family reputation. I wasn't close to any of them. They were always of on their holidays and meetings that they didn't have time for me. I wasn't daddy's little girl and believe me, I had never had any food cooked by my parents. That was probably one of the reasons I let myself become overweight. I just wanted the attention but all I got was the aching feeling of being pushed away. My brother however, was a whole different story... He took advantage of everything he got. My parents loved him. From the freedom to money, my brother had it all. Friends, good looks and basically, a life. Something that I didn't possess.

"So," my dad started up again, it seemed like Josh had calmed down, "I expect you to behave and make friends, the neighbours next door are coming tomorrow and they have children, a boy and girl who are your age so you can get a head start for school. Okay?" Josh grinned but I only stayed still.

Great. Another bunch of dum adolescents to tease me.

Fun.

To laugh at me, to bully me. To make fun of the awkward, ugly girl. Make up sometimes wasn't on my side.

There was a nagging voice at the back of my head telling me that it could be fine but I ignored it. Instead, I thought about the torture I would have to go through in a few hours. I hated new people. There was a boy. Popular from the sounds of it. A girl as well. To catch my parents attention, she must have been very pretty. Well done Em, the holidays haven't even started and you've already got the jocks and popular girls against you. Hey, I was pessimistic.  I may have not met them but if they were friends with my parents they must have been rich snobs because most of my parent's friends were rich, stuck up and sourer than a lemon. It was disgusting how my parents worked. If I knew them well, then I would hate them but I didn't judge them because well... they were my parents. Didn't that at least count for something? I stared at them as they spoke, they looked so in love.

I wish I could be like that. I wish some one would stick around long enough to make me feel.

I wish that I had some one to show that I cared. I wish I could tell someone I cared.

I went to the living room and sat on the sofa feeling utterly deflated and gloomy. One of the bracelets I wore snagged on one of the pillows . I frowned and noticed a small, folded piece of paper. When I finally got my bracelet away from the pillow, I unfolded it. It was a note. Another one? One the same day?

Remember, actions speak louder then words.
