Chapter 10

My breaths were uneven as I pressed my back against the brick wall. The note giving, sweet boy was, was, real? The one who had been my friend, the one who understood me, he existed? I tried in vain to calm my breaths. Oh God. A laugh escaped me and before I knew it, I was laughing like a crazy person. He was real! I felt like I had been dreaming. I ran a hand through my hair, life really had some tricks up its sleeve. I stood up and noticed he had left his guitar:

Keep it,

-Ty

Again, I felt an unfamiliar and warm sensation running through me. Grabbing the guitar, I Ran back home, my heels clacking on the stone pathway. No one was at home when I entered, I guess the party would last longer than I thought. I slumped down on the sofa, getting ready to play the guitar. The strings felt so different yet so familiar. I smiled and began to sing:

When your legs don't work like they used to before

And I can't sweep you off of your feet,                                                                                                                                   Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love?                                                                                                       Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks?

And, darling, I will be loving you 'til we're 70
And, baby, my heart could still fall as hard at 23
And I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Well, me—I fall in love with you every single day
And I just wanna tell you I am

So, honey, now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
I'm thinking out loud
Maybe we found love right where we are

When my hair's all but gone and my memory fades
And the crowds don't remember my name
When my hands don't play the strings the same way (mmm...)
I know you will still love me the same

'Cause, honey, your soul could never grow old, it's evergreen
And, baby, your smile's forever in my mind and memory
I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe it's all part of a plan
Well, I'll just keep on making the same mistakes
Hoping that you'll understand

I smiled, finishing the song:

  That, baby, now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
Thinking out loud
Maybe we found love right where we are

The last notes were the only things breaking the silence.

"You're a good singer." Not him again.

I stood up trying to pull my dress down, "What are you doing here?"

Jason's lip curled, "What's wrong? Can't take a compliment."

I snorted "Who said I wanted compliments from you?"

He put his hand on his heart mocking sadness, "I thought you loved me."

I smirked, tossing my hair back arrogantly, "Suck it loser."

He opened his mouth in shock. Bet you didn't see that one coming. Flipping my hair again, I walked to the kitchen with him staring at me, mouth wide open, "Close your mouth, we don't want you to be catching flies do we?"

"How cliché" He scoffed,

I laughed, "Touche " We both grinned.

Moving around the kitchen, I smiled, "Do want to eat something?"

"Surprise me."

I smirked, looking at the clock. It read 5:00. "Give me five hours, I'll cook you dinner."

"Five hours?" I grinned secretively as I ushered him out the kitchen calling out, "Get changed, you smell bad." His laugh was the only reply I got.

Pulling out all the m&ms, skittles and marzipan (There were two draws full of them) I started to get to work

Prepare for the feast of your life...

I wiped my hands on the kitchen towel, staring at my work proudly. It had taken me a long time to decorate the cake but I hid it. Dinner was first.

"Jason, Dinner!" He bundled down the stairs smirking, "This better be good."

I only rolled my eyes, smiling secretively. First of, sour cream chicken enchiladas and my famous shepherds pie. I stood and watched him eat, laughing as he moaned in delight, "Pretty good, huh?" He didn't answer, only kept on eating.

After he had finished, he groaned, "I don't think I can have dessert."

I pouted, "But I worked so hard on it."

He groaned, "Fine, go on."

I squealed, bringing out my 7 tier rainbow cake, covered in marzipan, m&ms and skittles. Jason's mouth hung open in awe. I gave him a slice but went into the living room, not wanting to see him eat the kind of thing that ruined my life and mad me fat. Tears ran down my cheeks,

Flashback

I pulled out my second mars bar. I had saved it especially for lunch today, knowing that it would be the only that would cheer me up. I hated school and as the mars bar company said: work, rest, play.  I didn't have any friends, no one to play with so I settled for the second, rest.

"Ew," the two most meanest girls passed me, whispering. They knew I could hear them and didn't fail to stop, "God, look at her, she's so ugly."

"I know, I saw that she had two helpings at lunch today. That greedy creature."

"I know, filthy."

I gripped my bar tightly, trying to concentrate on the heavenly taste of caramel.

Go away.

Go away.

They didn't. Instead, they laughed and teased me all day.

By now, the memories were too much and I had tears running down my face. A strong, muscular, arm wrapped around my shoulder whispering soothing things to my shaking self. I snuggled closer to the warmth of the person with only one thing in mind.

Jason...
