When you are the Queen's most prized student, you boast your achievements. An advantage not many can possess, but some like Elle'vea could. In fact, she had become the standard for a dedicated student at the Conservatory of Sorcery in Posidonis, longtime students like Tula had looked up to her like an idol. To Elle'vea, it was the highest honour she could achieve, but what of the boy that becomes the King's sidekick?

Kaldur'ahm had unknowingly become Elle'vea's competition, someone she needed to beat to regain the Queen's honours. Then, Queen Mera suggests for her to join the King's side as another sidekick, a hero on the surface world. And because she couldn't say no, she gradually becomes the world's first Aquagirl. However, she begins to realize how different it was on the surface than in Atlantis, she felt like a fish out of water whenever the King placed more focus on Kaldur'ahm than her, causing her to create a rift. All she wanted was the validation, something that King Orin refuses to hand to her on a silver platter.

When she and Kaldur joined a team of sidekicks, she believed it could be different for her. A place and situation where she wouldn't be overshadowed by the older, wiser and better one--then it happened again.

And it happens again, and again, and again. Each time were not only for proving herself to those around her but to the boy with red hair, who's attention shifted to every other girl he comes across and starts to treat her as his second choice.

But what happens when he tells her she was always his first choice?

i am quite unsure if this goes beyond s2, however! this is mostly a love story where elle just thinks and knows that wally does NOT have her as option 1 but option 2!!!! also this fic might be relatively shorter than vt and moon river combined because of the narrative choices i take and because i simply... know where to stop!

ahhh... elle'vea... elle for short, where do i begin? my atlantean baby, she believes!!! she is everyone's second choice, shes got a bit of main character syndrome but thats because of how shes been treated in neptunos, where everyone gave her the princess treatment after being accepted into the most prestigious sorcery school especially under the queens mentorship and teachings!!! she typically isnt used to having attention being tossed away from her so her as aquamans protege does show how favoritism can ruin one person (elle) which is something she unfortunately swallows up throughout the fic and might... go out of character a lot of the time

she is also my filipino adjacent yj oc! alongside claire! so theres pinoy rep LOL and even if she appears in moon river, this fic has alot of focus towards how she believes she is perceived by her teammates aside from her and wallys relationship, so there will be alot of repeated scenes between this and moon river

also a bit of inspiration for elle is probably amy march from little women (specifically the 2019 one) and penelope featherington from bridgerton, meanwhile one of the primary inspos for wally and elle (dubbed wall-e & eve by drstrvnge) is unfortunately laurie and amy from little women... Um... yes!
