Merlin never liked school and who would? How could anyone enjoy going to school when there were rumors of him bringing bad luck to anyone that even got close to him. The reason why this started was that his parents first died and then one by one his friends ended up either moving away or getting killed by accidents.

It sucked and he felt alone that not even his Uncle Gaius could help him with his loneliness. Merlin was never enjoying this and it was why he was glad that they moved to a different city. At least there he didn't need to worry about anyone knowing of his rumors.

But starting in a new school was not helping as he was now a newbie and everyone was whispering behind his back, and then there was the quarterback group that loved to tease him, not that they meant any harm to it obviously.

The one person that flirted with others was Gwaine and it seemed that since he arrived in this school, the other made it his mission to flirt with him. They somehow even ended up friends weirdly enough and even his teammates seemed to want to be his friends.

Yet Merlin did not really want to and wasn't sure how to act around them after all the bad things that had happened to him, he felt constantly scared to get close to anyone. It was a surprise that his Uncle hadn't yet ended up getting injured as well.

His heart longed to have people his age as friends but the fear led him to have them at least at arm's length never letting anyone get that close.

"Heeeeey Merlin, wait for me."

His cheeks flamed at Gwaine yelling across the hall for him to wait and he really did not enjoy the attention that was on him.

"It's not like I have hearing issues, moron." He grumbled out with sarcasm and the male grinned boyishly at him, making him feel his cheeks heat up even further.

"Awe come on, can't I greet you?" Gwaine whined in a mock-serious tone and made him let out a sigh.

"Gwaine I heard you from all the way here and you made all the attention now on us. I am not like you, a hoe for attention." He drew and there was a pout.

"Awe come you don't mean it."

"Yes, I do." He deadpanned and Gwaine pouted before grinning and ruffling his hair, a thing that seemed to be done by every football team.

"Don't-.." He gave up asking the male to stop ruffling his hair as it was embarrassing and it also caused his stomach to flutter weirdly and make him feel fidgety not knowing how to act with that affection of the good-looking teen.

"What do you want?" He huffed out and the glint made him know that he would end up being dragged into whatever mess Gwaine was planning and once again he wondered why he let himself be dragged into this.

Either way, it caused a lot of people to be annoyed but also amused and fond about what chaos the male caused and he was once more wondering why he didn't decide to stay at home instead of going to school.

"Hey, you alright?" The concerned voice of Leon made him blink as furrowing his brows at his dizziness coming back up.

"Mhm." He mumbled knowing that he was not fine with how sick he felt.

The male looked one minute straight at him, before he was lifted up, to his chagrin but letting it happen, knowing that he would not be able to leave someone. Leon was for sure stronger. The direction they went made him pout but also knowing that the infirmary might be a good idea.

Leon stayed the entire time with him until his Uncle arrived to take him back. With a note to tell him that Gwaine was interested in him and that they should just get together already. A thing that was said by many of their friends and he so far had avoided this topic.

But now that Gwaine visited after school and brought him even a well-wished teddy he could not hold it any longer. The male just was so infuriating but also a person that he cared deeply of and the fact that his mind was constantly on him, well he could not deny this any longer.

"I think um I like you..." He mumbled as holding the teddy close to him.

The male blinked as staring at him with a surprised yet happy expression and made him duck his head.

"Like like or just I like you as a friend?" It was asked and he swallowed as he was clear that he liked Gwaine more than just like a friend.

"More um then..." He trailed off as his mind went back to some of his daydreams and flushing even more.

"Awesome, so can you finally accept my date invite, or are you still going to deny it?" The male chipper asked and he groaned out as right now he did not want to talk about this.

"Ask me this when I don't feel like dying." He mumbled in a huff and Gwaine looked worried as he pushed the fringe of his hair aside, making him lean into the touch at the cool hand that the other held.

"Ah, you have a bit of a fever there. You mind me staying for a little bit more until I am sure you did rest?" It was asked with a 180 turn, serious and shy. The opposite that Gwaine usually was.

"Fine, just don't be too loud.." He mumbled as his eyes closed again, feeling the exhaustion hit him once again. It was after this that they were officially a couple. Which people assumed that they had been one even before it got official and once again he wondered why people wouldn't just mind their own business.
