Heartbroken at first but a new love blooming
Merlin stared at Arthur's angered face. It should have been expected. Something like this was always in his worst nightmares. Yet he couldn't help but decide to play his part. Arthur was not going to forgive him even after everything he explained to him.
Lancelot would surely follow him as well as Gwaine. The same was said to Gwen. The female wasn't going to leave him. Not after both were like siblings. Yet it still pained him. Pained him to know that Arthur was hating him now.
"I had hoped that you would not be like Uther." He cut out and glaring at Arthur. All the friendliness left his eyes. Why should he? It was clear to him that Arthur wasn't going to friendly route either. So, he won't too.
"I am not like him." A sneered answer was given to him and he let out a humorless laugh. Even eyes held no humor as well.
"Are you sure? Because when you wouldn't be like Uther then you would accept that I was born this way. That it wasn't my fault that I have magic. Yet you punish me for something that had never been my fault. How is this fair? Huh, tell me Arthur Pendragon?" He cut coldly back, and the tension grew. Arthur had been his best friend and all that was destroyed because of him finding out about his magic.
"You still used magic, and you know the consequences. And your lucky that I won't execute you. Get out of Camelot and leave. Never come back or there will be death. This much I can promise you." Arthur said coolly back. Making him take a deep breath and turning around. But before he really left, he said one sentence.
"I once had loved you but you hate me now. I still will be waiting when you need help. Because I still don't want to see any harm come to Camelot." Soft yet firm as he walked out of the room. His expression stayed yet on the inside he felt heartbroken.
Arthur had not loved him, and he hated him now. At least he got to tell him one last time because even now he cared for this stubborn git. A sigh was escaping as he walked into his room, packing his things and starting to say goodbye to everyone.
He had been sure that no one could follow him. Gwaine should still stay with Arthur and Lancelot too. Gwen had her own family and it wouldn't be fair that she would leave. But he also knew that it would end up in their downfall would they follow.
With this he left, without a trace, hoping that Arthur would see sense. But knowing Arthur there was probably no one who could change this all.

Three years went by and he was feeling lonely. People had not accepted him, and he had been living with the druids after a year. Even making sure that Morgana had been taken care of and making sure that Mordred won't go the path that this damn dragon thought he would go.
By now Mordred was like a little brother and they were close. Yet he couldn't help but miss his old life. Missing his friends and family. But most he missed was Gwaine. The troublemaker had been someone who had been close to him. There were as well the thoughts that were swirling constantly towards the older male. It made him muse slightly, but he also made sure to watch over Arthur in the shadows. His destiny stayed and he couldn't just stop protect Arthur, even when he had been rejected by said male.
By now his feelings were nonexistent. Snuffed out after the harmful yet paining words that had left through the others mouth. It reminded him once more that the dragon was wrong. Arthur surely wouldn't bring magic back. Morgana had been right, yet he wasn't going to let his ex-best friend die.
"Great job, Merlin." Mordred grumbled out and he stared up at the male. He flushed and shifted one foot to another. One word said wrongly and now they were god knows where.
"Okay, really sorry but you were the one who distracted me in the first place." He deadpanned back making Mordred huff out. The two started to bicker and it wasn't going to end any time soon. Both were heated and stubborn people.
"Well hello there cutie." A flirting voice was heard, and he jumped up and slowly turning his attention over to the flirt Gwaine. "And hi, Mordred." Was soon added, making him know that this was Gwaine.
"Really? After three years your first thing had to say was this?" He deadpanned to his friend and a fake annoyance was seen, but soon a grin stretched over his lips and tackling him into a tight hug. Which instantly got returned with a snort.
"Well of course, or who else would I flirt with when not with the cutest, honest and sweetest person in whole world." Gwaine joked yet it was still in the same flirting tone. Making his cheeks feel like they were on fire.
"God your being sappy there. And also, I have to tell you that I am not cute but handsome." He grumbled out but there was no heat behind this. Making Gwaine chuckle they continued throwing things left and right. Until Mordred interrupted and them pulling away.
His face was even more flustered when seeing Mordred smirk at him. God he must think that they are together or something. That was what Mordred instantly asked to his embarrassment. But it wasn't making it less embarrassing when Gwaine had not denied but didn't confirm it either. Making this all more embarrassing.
"Anyway, I finally found you." Gwaine huffed out and he folded his arms, a raised eyebrow was also soon seen on his face. Almost as if daring him to say something akin to him returning Camelot.
"Why? We both know that you wouldn't need to search for me. Didn't you love Percival?" He dared him now to deny this because he seen the two interact. He wasn't a fool and that was why he was cursing himself for falling for Gwaine. His best friend was loving someone else.
"Nah, he is nothing more then a brother figure to me." Gwaine said with a shrug at the end and making him stare. Now he had no idea what to feel of this.
"Another thing is, running away without myself joining you. Really rude I must say." It was said in a dramatic way, making him puff his cheeks out.
"Nah, I was fine without you goof ball." He deadpanned back but it was obvious to both that he was dramatic as well. Both knew he wasn't serious about this. Both cracked grins soon and bursting into laughter. To the confusion of Mordred.
"Anyway, I am surprised that this time you didn't run away again." Gwaine said with a grin and he knew what he meant. The last time he dared him to follow as he wasn't knowing what Gwaine wanted. But the other was just so stubborn ending in his best friend searching for him.
"You won. But why are you really here?" He asked cautiously and as well as an unsureness was felt. His best friend was someone who he cared of and he wasn't wanting him to get into trouble.
"I realized something when I seen you the last time." Gwaine said with a shrug. Making him intrigued what his best friend had found out.
"Oh, enlighten me, Gwainy." He chirped and tilting his head as a curious look was overcoming over him. Once again, the two forgot about Mordred who facepalmed, yet he still was oblivious about his little brother being there. Even after grumbling about lovesick and dense clotpole's.
"Well that I missed you and that I have been in love with you for a while. Merls." Gwaine said with a shrug and he opened his mouth but closing it. It took him by surprise, and he could feel his heat grow more in surprise. It came unexpectedly for him.
"Oh..." He couldn't even say something else, that was how speechless Gwaine made him.
"Finally, god you two were so blind. It was sickening sweet, and I swear every time you met the sexual tension is even worse than with Markus and Hikaru." Mordred grumbled out and he realized now that his brother was there. And the mentioning of the two others made him chuckle because the two druids were clearly in love but denied it.
"Goddammit. I can't believe that I didn't' realize this." He groaned out knowing too well that he should have. Heck Gwaine had clearly showed interest and flirted with him openly. Even more then with others.
"And I love you too, you big goof." He grumbled out but his grin showed that he was happy about this. They ended up going back to the druid camp, with both holding hands. After figuring out how to get back of course.
