Bunny sat atop a ridge not too far from her parents homestead. She could make out the small wisp of smoke lazily winding it's way through the sky, a sure indication that her father was already awake and warming the undoubtedly chilly home.

Often Bunny found herself sitting atop this very ridge whenever she stopped in to visit her parents. Her two partners in crime were a chestnut mare who was left to happily graze the dewy sweet grass not too far away.

Her other faithful companion was her dog, Simba, who lay beside her. Content in knowing that her best friend was occupied with whatever usually brought them to the ridge.

It was the sunrise that brought Bunny back to that spot time and again, the complete stillness of the morning and the quiet that was occasionally interrupted by a loud, horsey snort was absolutely perfect.

Gunny loved watching her small part of the world wake and greet the new day, she didn't mind that it was cold. The feeling of the world being perfect in that moment chased every other feeling away.

When the sun began to peak over the distant mountains and began to shine not only light but warmth on every living and innate thing in the area, it made Bunny's soul sing.

Her soul sand that same tune it did every morning that she ventured up to the ridge, but that morning seemed as if she were experiencing sunrise for the very first time.

A small whine from her companion let Bunny know that she wasn't alone, she might have been alone in her appreciation for the sunrise and all the joy it brought her but at least she could share it with Simba and her faithful steed.

"I guess we better head off now Simba, mom and dad will be wondering where we are." Bunny murmured as she ran a hand over the dogs head, stopping momentarily to scratch that itch behind her ear.

"Well I'll be dammed, is that little Bunny I spy?" Came an all too familiar voice.

Bunny rolled her eyes and glanced in the man's direction and froze for two reasons, one being the 'boy' she had fallen in love with years ago was now a man and two, he wasn't alone.

For a few fleeting moments Bunny felt betrayed, this had been their thing for as long as they had been allowed out of the house alone and her dream of marrying her human best friend seemed to be shattered as she watched Marcus emerge from the tree line with a red headed beauty in tow.
