Rick and Rita went back to the hotel to get showers and rest while we wait on the surgery. Paul went home to check in with Chris, so I had Jamie and Lizzie drop me off at the hospital before heading to the apartment.

It's now almost midnight and the hospital is empty, the lights are dimmed in the waiting room, tv volume is low and there's a woman laying across the bench seats sleeping covered up with her coat.

The nurse at the desk is thumbing through the pages of some fashion magazine and I clear my throat to get her attention. She looks up blowing a bubble out of the piece of gum she was chomping on and rolls her eyes at me for disturbing her reading. When her eyes meet mine her composure changes and she sits straight up in her chair, chews her gum how it should be and twirls her hair as she asks how she can help me.

"Hi yeah I'm wondering if my GIRLFRIEND is out of surgery?" I'm make sure to emphasize girlfriend and she slumps into her chair.

"Name?" She asks unamused now.

"Lucy...." She cuts me off before I could give her last name.

"Yeah go ahead back they just brought her out. Can't stay too long though since visiting hours are over."

"Thanks." I say walking back.

When I get to Lucy's room she's sleeping with her bed kind of raised up so she is somewhat sitting up. She looks peaceful, but I sit next to her bed and take her hand and kiss it. She reaches over and brushes my cheek with her finger tips and I look up at her and smiles lightly.

"Hi beautiful." I say as a tear rolls down my cheek.

She wipes it away and her fingers linger on my face, concerns fills her face. "What's wrong Zane?"

"You scared the shit out of me!" I didn't mean to yell it but I couldn't help it, there was no other way to really put it.

"I'm ok and will be ok. The doctor says he got it all and that I may have to just take a chemo pill, but I have to meet with the oncologist in a week."

"Whatever you need baby, I will be there with you."

She smiles with that beautiful smile with deep dimples that made me fall for her and I want to melt into a puddle at this very moment.

"It's late. You should be home sleeping." Lucy says with a whisper.

"So what, I'd rather spend my time here with you."

"I'm not much company right now though."

"So be it. I'm not leaving your side until they kick me out." I stand up to give her a quick peck and God I missed kissing those lips. She wraps her hand around the back of my neck and pulls me back down to deepen the kiss.

"Haven't got to kiss you in days and you just wanted to leave me hanging with a tiny little peck?" She says with the most beautiful sarcasm there was.

I'm taken back and let out the most hideous laugh ever which causes Lucy to erupt with laughter. I lean down and kiss her again this time making sure it was to her liking and it was deep and passionate.

I sigh. "I can't wait for you to come home. I need you in my arms."

Lucy smiles. "I'll be coming home soon. Probably within the next few days as long as no other complications appear."

"Thank god! Ha that's the best news ever."

It's hard to believe that about 6 hours ago she had no clue who I was and was paralyzed on the right side of her body. Now we sit here with her hand in mine talking and smiling like we haven't talked in ages. An hour went by and Lucy was starting to fall asleep so I stood up stretching and gave her a kiss. She grabbed my hand and pulled me back begging me to stay.

"I don't want to get in trouble. The nurse barely let me in to begin with since it's after hours."

She scoots over and pats the empty spot. "Lay with me please. What's the worst that could happen? They tell you that you shouldn't be here and tell you not to do it again?"

She's right she has made a really good point. You know what I don't care what they say I'm staying here with Lucy and climb into the bed and she snuggles against me. She has fallen asleep because her breath evens and she gets a peaceful look on her face when she sleeps. I lay here silently and still watching her sleep taking in her beautiful features. Eventually I drift off to sleep myself.

Daylight pours into the room and I hear a woman behind me clearing her throat and poking me lightly with her pen trying to wake me up. It's the nurse from last night.

"You're not supposed to still be here." She says as I squint my eyes trying to look at her.

"Sorry." I say swinging my legs off the bed. "We fell asleep talking."

"It's fine but you can't do this tonight." She cracks her gum with her teeth and walks around checking Lucy's vitals and IV. She lifts the bandage on her head. "Looks good. Probably just another day in the hospital to monitor her. But when she gets home no stairs."

"She lives in an apartment. She has a pull out bed in her couch, I'll set her up with that and kick her sisters out."

"The twin girls?" She asks.

"Yeah that will be them."

"The one with the darker hair, that seems taller. Is she uh maybe seeing anyone?"

"I know she's not seeing anyone but I'm not sure of her gender preference."

"Well um maybe you could find out for me?"

Lucy wakes up. "I've said for years that she's either a lesbian or she's bi." Lucy smiles and her eyes land straight on mine. I've never had a girl make me weak in the knees before but damn she can make me feel all sorts of ways.

"So will you talk to her for me and see?" The nurse asks.

"Yes I will be happy too. What's your name? My visions still a bit blurry I can't see your name tag."

"Oh of coarse. I'm Serena. Here's my number if you will please give it to her." She smiles and leaves the room.

Lucy looks at me giggling. "Well this will be interesting."

Just as she said that Jamie and Lizzie are standing behind me in the room. "What's interesting?" Jamie asks.

"Here this is for you." Lucy hold her hand out with the folded paper in it and winks at Jamie as she takes it.

Jamie opens the paper and reads the note. She turns 20 shades of red as she folds it back up and slides it into her back pocket.

"So?" Lucy questions.

"So what? Jamie asks.

"Are you going to call her?" Lucy asks and Lizzie's eye practically fall out of her head.

"I don't know, maybe. She is cute." Jamie says.

"Wait what?" Lizzie asks shocked.

"Oh come on. Don't tell me you didn't see this Lizzie." Lucy snaps at Lizzie's reaction.

"I didn't mean that in a bad way." Lizzie defends herself.

"Well maybe I will call her. In fact I'm going to go out and talk to her!" Jamie says.

"Woooo get it girl!" Lucy cheers her on.

We all laugh as Lizzie stands there staring at the door wondering what happened in the last five minutes.

"So you knew all along?" Lizzie asks Lucy and I.

"Yep." We say in unison.

"Well I'll be damned! I thought she was boycotting men for a while since Jake had to be a total asshole to her." Lizzie says. "Well good for her!"

The short haired nurse comes in to check Lucy over and brings her breakfast. Lucy makes a face when she looks down and see what's on her plate. I laugh to myself. She made the cutest face. I didn't notice but Lizzie was staring at me and she got a smile on her face when I finally did notice.

"What?" I ask.

"You. It's cute. Your totally falling in love with her." Lizzie says.

I shrug. Maybe I am. I mean at this point I can't imagine myself with anyone but her. I've changed a lot since I've come here and it's all because of her. I've never stuck around much with any girl until Lucy. She's incredible, beautiful, smart, funny, talented and real. Sometimes it just takes that one person to open your eyes to what you've been missing. Since her I've experienced dates, talking for hours at night, random kisses, random hugs, being playful. Damn it I am falling in love with her. Didn't know that you could be in love before connecting with someone physically. Shows what I know because boy was I wrong. I'm in love with Lucy.

Lizzie smiles to herself knowing that she is right and I acknowledged it with my shrug then silence. She seems pleased with herself.

"Come here Zane." Lucy instructs and I walk over to bed. "Go home. Shower and sleep."

"No I'm not going anywhere. I showered yesterday and slept here last night. I'm good."

"You smell." Lucy laughs.

"I do not!" And Lizzie comes over and sniffs me.

"Eww here take my keys." Lizzie says handing her keys out to me.

"Really? You think I stink?" I ask pulling my shirt up to sniff it and Lucy reaches over to pull my shirt back down and notice a glare between Lucy and Lizzie.

I smirk and Lucy blushes. She didn't want Lizzie to check me out.

"No babe you don't stink, I was kidding but would really like it if when you go home to grab me some clothes. Preferably my yoga pants and a lose shirt. One I should easily be able to get over my head without touching much."

"No problem hun, I'm sure clean underwear and bras would be good too?" I ask.

There was something about mentioning that she would need bras and underwear and that I would get them for her.

"If you......don't mind." Lucy blushes.

"I don't mind just tell me where to get them from." I say.

"Top drawer of the dresser by the window. My yoga pants and shirts are in second drawer, and thank you sooooooo much."

"Anything for you baby." I say leaning over to give her a kiss. "Sure I can take your car Lizzie."

"Yes you can. I'll keep Lucy company. Take your time."

One more kiss and I'm out the door and see Jamie talking to Serena and I casually let her know I'm heading home to shower and pick Lucy up some clothes. They look like they are having a really good conversation and flirting a lot! I head through the waiting room towards the elevators and Rick and Rita step off.

"Hey where are you going." Rick asks.

"I've been here all night. I'm going to head home shower and get Lucy some clothes. They are talking about letting her come home tomorrow." I say.

"Oh wow that's so soon." Rita says.

"They were able to do both surgeries microscopically so very little healing and she will need to see the oncologist in a week. Most likely they will do the chemo pill but beyond that she's doing really good."

"Great! Well we will go in and see her now." Rita says as she starts to walk away.

"Lizzie and Jamie are here too." I add stepping into the elevator.

"We will see you when you get back." Rick says as the doors shut.

"See ya!" I yell back and head to the parking garage to Lizzie's car and head back to the apartment.
