Chapter 3
The elevator dinged, dropping Cora and I on the ground floor.
We stepped out, heading towards the direction of the kitchen.
As we walked down a long hallway, doors on either side of us, I turned to Cora.
"So, since it seems we'll be stuck together for a while, you wanna tell me about that commercial?"
She flashed me a smile. "No."
"Oh, c'mon, was it really that bad?"
She nodded. "Yep."
"What if I guess it? Will you tell me then?"
She stopped in her tracks and faced me. "Maybe."
I stopped as well, turning to her. "I'm gonna need a little more than just a 'maybe.'"
She folded her arms over her chest. "You're a stubborn one, huh?"
I shrugged. "Maybe."
She chuckled. "Fine, if you can guess it, I'll tell you."
I rubbed my hands together. "Game on."
She let out another small laugh as she continued down the hallway.
I followed behind her, my mind flooding with the possible commercial ideas.
Then, my eyes drifted down her back to her tight jeans, her hips swaying slightly as she walked.
My thoughts quickly changed, my breathing picking up a little.
"Any guesses?" Cora asked, pulling me from my trance like state.
"Uh, yeah... was it one of those weird Japanese commercials?"
She laughed. "I wish, this was far worse than that."
I quickly caught up to her, as to control my wandering eyes. "Ok, was it for some kind of medicine?"
She flashed me a quick smirk.
I narrowed my eyes at her. "Herpes..."
She started to laugh again. "Shit, dude, do I look a hooker or something?"
I rubbed the back of my neck. "Well, no, but that doesn't mean you couldn't do a commercial about it."
She just continued to laugh. "Try again."
I rubbed my chin. "Is it anything you can get from sex?"
She shook her head. "No."
"Eating crappy food?"
She giggled. "No."
I stopped in my tracks, causing her to do the same.
"What do you got?" She asked.
"Pain meds?"
"Nope."
"Damn... I'm gonna need some more time." I replied.
She smiled. "We got all the time in the world."
My eyes flashed from hers to her lips. "That's a long time..."
She drifted a little closer to me. "That it is."
I swallowed hard. "A lot of stuff could happen in that kinda time frame..."
She inched a little closer. "That it could."
Then, my phone rang out from my pocket.
I took a step back from Cora before answering it. "Hello..?"
"Alisa, Victor is driving us insane. We need that eggnog like now." Ramsey said from the other line.
"Alright, we'll be right back. Just hold tight." I replied.
"Easier said then done." She said before hanging up.
"Creeper emergency?" Cora asked.
"Yeah, we better go find that eggnog."
She nodded before turning on her heel, continuing down the hallway.
After we found the eggnog, we headed back up to the main office, where Victor stood in front of the group, drawing out some kind of diagram on the whiteboard.
Miss Weiland turned to us first. "Oh, thank god." She said, getting to her feet.
Everyone else followed suite, Victor glaring at us.
"The party has arrived, folks." Cora said, setting a couple cartons of eggnog on a nearby desk.
"Took you long enough." Tim said.
I set out a few glasses, Cora filling them with eggnog.
Then, Miss Weiland stopped her. "One second, I'll be right back."
We watched as she headed to her office, returning a minute later with a glass bottle.
She held it up. "It wouldn't be proper eggnog without a shot of rum."
Tim let out a small 'whoop' as he grabbed the bottle. "Now we're talking."
Cora snatched it from him before pouring out the rest of the drinks.
I made sure she left a non-spiked one for Ramsey.
We all grabbed our glasses.
Cora raised hers, the rest of us following her lead.
"Merry fucking Christmas, everyone." She said.
We cheered before clinking glasses and taking a drink.
I coughed a little. "Christ, what're you trying to do to me?"
She smirked, flashing me a small wink, before downing the rest of her drink...
A couple hours later, we all found ourselves way to drunk and having way to much fun. Except Victor, of course.
Jingle Bell Rock played through Tim's computer speakers while we danced around the room, drinks in hand.
"Alright, this isn't to bad." I said.
Cora flashed me a smile, offering me her hand.
I smiled back, downing the rest of my drink before taking it, letting her lead me into her arms.
We swayed back and forth as the song changed to a slower one.
"This is turning out to be a pretty great Christmas." She said.
"Thanks to you." I replied.
She shrugged. "Yeah, maybe just a little."
We started to laugh, when Tim suddenly appeared next to us, holding something over our heads.
"What're you up to now?" Cora asked.
He shrugged. "Just following traditions."
Cora and I looked up at the mistletoe dangling from his fingers.
We both rolled our eyes, as if one cue.
"So, which one of you pretty ladies wants to kiss me first?" Tim asked.
"Try neither." Cora replied, taking me back in her arms, leading me in a slow dance.
Tim dropped his arm to his side. "But, it's tradition."
Cora smiled, planting a quick kiss to my lips. "There, now buzz off."
My eyes widened. While it was quick, it was enough to warm me up on this cool December morning. "Wow..."
"My thoughts exactly." Tim said.
Cora and I shooed him away before looking back into each others eyes.
"Well, that was something..." I said.
She smiled. "Sorry, it seemed like the only thing that would shut him up."
I shrugged a little. "I mean, I'm not complaining or anything..."
A slight smirk pulled at her lips. "Then, you wouldn't mind doing it again?"
My eyes wandered from her lips to the mistletoe she held over our heads.
I giggled. "Well, it is tradition..."
She let out a small laugh before leaning in.
This time, the kiss started slower, softer.
As our lips met, I could feel my surroundings fade away, leaving just Cora, me, and that damn mistletoe.
A warmth formed in the pit of my stomach, spreading all through out my body.
Then, suddenly, she pulled away.
My eyes fluttered open. "What's wrong?"
She pointed her finger behind me.
I slowly turned, seeing Tim and Miss Weiland locked in a full on make out session.
Tim backed her up into her office door before she opened it, leading him inside.
I turned back to Cora as the door slammed shut. "Wow, I wish I never had to see that."
She laughed. "You and me both... But, they gave me an idea."
My cheeks grew warm. "I'm listening..?"
She leaned in close, whispering in my ear. "You wanna go explore a little? Just the two of us."
I just nodded, letting her lead me back to the elevator.
"Ahh, not you guys to." Ramsey said from behind us.
"Don't leave me here with the Grinch..." She pleaded.
"Bite me." Victor said as the elevator doors slid closed in front of us...
