Chapter 1: Part 2

I looked out unto the world below. It was suprising yet eligant the way it shined out. The way it shined was something different though. I sigh as the cool night air was blowing on me, making my hair flow behind me. I wonder what the letter is for. My thoughts consumed me as I took in the scene for a long time making me feel like time had stopped.

"Maddy!" Gaius yelled as I turned my head away.

I hurriedly go down the stairs and into the large room, where Gaius put the letter down.

"Yes Gaius?"

"Your mother says that you need a medication before you go to bed. May I ask why?"

"Just can't sleep."

"Okay," Gaius stood up and walked over to me," When you are ready for bed drink this, it should help you."

He handed me the bottle just as Merlin came down the stairs. Merlin looked at me strangely when he saw the bottle in my hand, but quickly dismissed the thought of asking. I shook my head, too tired to worry, and headed for bed. I heard their words as I was quietly heading up the stairs.

"Gaius, what was the medication for?"

"Just sleeping Merlin, don't intrude on what's not yours." Gaius said sternly.

I giggled at the fact that Merlin was worried about me. My eyes glistened as the thought of my mother being the only one of the three people that cared about me. Eldor was a lovely place that which always took my heart away, even when I saw the sight of it at a far distance. I felt myself smiling at the thought of home. At home William was a great friend of mine. Hunith was also a brilliant friend of mine, she was an older woman about my mum's age, but she was sweet. Then it was my mother. I sigh and remember something I forgot.

"Dang it." I mumble as I walked down the stairs. I look off to the right and see my things and I sling my bag over my shoulder. The handle of my volin then fit perfectly in my hand and I walked into my room. Goodnight mum.  I thought as I slowly climbed into bed. I laid wide wake in my bed fearing for the sleep that might lead to nightmares.

The next morning, since I didn't take my medication, I just laid awake until morning. I turned my head to see the bright sun just peaking up above the buildings, and decided to get up. I got my normal clothes on in perfect timing. First my blue (pirate) shirt, then my brown belt, white leggings, and brown boots. My strawberry blonde hair, I put into a braide that fittingly went down the middle of my back. I looked in the mirror and headed down the stairs to see Gaius also up.

"Hello my dear. How did you sleep?" Gaius said as I sat down next to him.

"Fine."

"Good because that remedy should have worked, for your sleep."

"Brilliant."

Gaius looked up at me. He looked like he was trying to see into my soul, or possibly see if I was an open book. But Alas I was not so I saw him look back down to his remedy making.

"Merlin should be waking up soon."

"Okay then, is there anything I can help you with?"

"No. I have everything done already. I just need you two to drop them off for me."

"So were like your messengers."

"Yes."

"Fantastic!" I smiled as I stood up. I walked up to my room and entered it waiting to here Merlin's voice. It may sound creepy to you, but I need him to actually do something. I've been a restless child, can't you tell? Later I could hear mumbling down in the basement and I slowly got up from my bed. I quickly came down the stairs to see Merlin and Gaius both staring at me.

"What?"

"Nothing." Gaius said as he picked up a bowl of watery porriage and handed it to me.

"Thanks." I smiled the sincerest smile I could do and sat down. My spoon just stirred it in the bowl. Gaius looked down at me and started to talk.

"Maddy you didn't wash your face last night."

"Oh sorry. I wasn't thinking."

Next thing I know a bucket of water is being knocked over. I quickly stood up and held out my hand and stopped it. My eyes probably flashed yellow and freaked everyone out. I wouldn't be surprised. I looked at Gaius, Gaius looked at me and I stopped the magic.

"Oh no." I quietly said as I sat back down.

Merlin just watched me with amazement. Gaius looked at me strange and then next thing I know he's drilling me with questions.

"So what is it? Did you incant a magic spell in your mind?"

" I don't know any spells." I remained with a quiet voice, even though my blood was boiling over because I was such and idiot! I gave away my secret in what, not even a day in Camelot?

"So what did you two do? There much be something!" I realized that Merlin was staring at me and Iooked back at him. We continued this for about 30 seconds and we both broke away.

"I don't know. It just..."

"Happens." We said that part at the same time. It felt a little bit strange to know that there was someone that was like you, but at the same time a little bit happy.

"Okay then. Until I find paid work for you two, you will work for me." Gaius hands me the bottles and I put them in the Messengers bag that I have. He hands Merlin two sandwiches he smiles.

"Thank you." I say as I put the messengers bag around my shoulder.

"Hollyhook and Feverfew for Lady Percival, and the liquid one was for Sir Olwin. He's as blind as a weevil, so warn him not to take it all at once."

We both smile and nod at his instructions. Gaius just looks at us like were strange and then smiles a tiny smile too.

"Off you go two go. Oh and I hardly need to tell you that the practice of enchantments will get you two killed."

We were finally outside. My grin, I could feel, was getting wider as I saw all the people around the square. Laughter filled the air as we were walking around the different homes. We reached our destination and I grabbed the bottle and handed it to Merlin. He smiled at me and knocked on the door.

"Hello sir Olwin, we came to bring you your medication." Merlin said as he handed the old man his medication. "Gaius wanted to tell you that you can't drink it all at once--"

Merlin looked up to see that I had stopped the old man from drinking all of his medicine at once. The bottle was in my hands and I was putting the cork on it just as Merlin looked in surprise.

"Gaius has informed us that you weren't supposed to drink all of the remedy. So, drink the rest tonight before you go to bed." I say sincerely, as I smile but then remember that the old man is blind. I mentally facepalm myself as I take that realization, and stopped smiling and handed him the rest of his remedy to drink later. He then immediatly, closed the door on us. Wow tough crowd. I thought as Merlin shrugged his shoulders, and we turn to leave.
