I was sitting in my favorite place in the world. On the couch in the back of the orphanage's room will my stack of books. Ever since I was young I had loved the idea of magic. Sorcerers, and dragons, and princes and princesses. It was my fantasy.

But that's all it is. Fantasy. None of those things really exists and don't. My favorite story was the story of Emrys. The Druids, a fabled group of magic users, have claimed that Emrys is, well was, the most powerful magic user ever. The legends of Emrys were fantastic. I could read them for hours.

And so I do. I sit on my little couch and read the legends. I've probably read them so many time that I can recite whole pages on the spot. But today was different. Today I was reading a spell book I found. While mindlessly scanning the page my brain drifted off to the thoughts of medieval times. When magic was believed and maybe even used. Where everyday women wore the most beautiful dresses and the men wore chain mill and stood tall to defend. Oh, how I wanted to live there. Just for a day.

I slowly come back into focus and see that in the middle of the page is a time traveling spell. I smiled and held up my hand. Jokingly I said the words on the page "Volo redire ad cor meum in summa vult videre" I opened my eyes to see that I was no longer in the orphanage. I was in a forest. It was obviously autumn based on the fact that most of the red, orange, and yellow leaves have turned brown and were now on the floor and the chill in the air. I tried to get up but I couldn't lift my limbs.

"Are you alright?" I froze. I looked up to see a young man around my age. He had black hair and blue eyes. Once he saw my appeal, which was my sports bra and sweat shorts, he covered his eyes as a blush crept onto his face.

This confused me why did he cover his eyes. I mean yes it was very revealing but I wasn't naked. Then it hit me. I used a time travel spell. I must be in a time where showing a lot of skin is frowned upon.

"I don't think I've broken anything but I can't get up. My body is just really tired." He slowly took his hand away from his eyes. The looked me up and down and blushed more. Which just caused me to blush.

"Sounds like you've just exhausted your body. What were you doing? Especially dressed like that?" He gestures at my body as he sits next to me. I shrug and look forward.

"Could you tell me the date? It's slipped my mind." I forced a giggle. He giggles as well and tells me. The date is OCTOBER 16TH 1345! That's impossible. I nod as thanks and look down. I actually time traveled. Like actually traveled through time.

"What are you doing in the woods all alone?" He said as he tried to start a fire.

"Just traveling. How did you know I was in trouble?"

"Well, I hear a yelp come from who I can only assume was you." He looked up at me and smiled. I smiled back. It only took a little bit longer to start the fire. Now that I had been here for around 20 minutes my body started to gain some energy meaning I could move a little. I don't think I could stand up yet but still.

"Oh, by the way, I'm Dawn." I say as he sits down next to me. He held out his hand for me to shake. I took his hand and smiled. He smiled back. He was about to tell me his name before everything went black. That was the last thing I saw before my body gave into the exhaustion. Everything went black.

"I'm telling you Gius she appeared out of thin air. I've never seen anything like it. She just popped into the woods. In that. With this!" I could hear the man talking to I assumed was Gius. I kept my breath slow so it looked like I was still asleep. I noticed I've been changed. I can feel the cloth against my skin. It smells nice, like herbs and just a smell I can't really describe.

"Where do you think she came from?" Said an unknown voice. Probably Gius. The man either didn't respond or he shrugged. After a minute of silence, I decided that I should wake up.

I began to fake stir and heard the unknown voice... again assuming it's Gius, say "She's waking up. Take care of her and find out where she came from and what her name is." As I open my eyes I hear the door close.

Once my eyes focused I see the man above my head. He smiles big once we make eyes contact. "Good morning." He whispered because his face was right above mine. "Good morning." I smiled. I look down and notice that he's shirtless. I blushed and looked back up at him.

"Where is your shirt?" I asked just loud enough for him to hear. He just looked at my body. I looked down to see that I was wearing it. "How long was I asleep?" I asked sitting up. "Only around 3 hours. We just got back from the woods." I look around the room to see a bookshelf and some other random knickknacks. "Where are we?" He walked behind his divider to get changed.

"Oh, you are in Camelot, Lady Dawn." I look up at him with a confused look. Lady? I am no Lady. I mean I am female but it's not my title. "Lady. I am no Lady." I said now sitting on the edge of the bed. He shook his head "Oh really. That seems unlikely." I made a confused noise asking him to continue his thought. "Well, it's just you are very nice spoken and you have very good manners from what I've seen." He poked his head around the divider and smiled. I smiled back.

"What are you doing today?" I asked standing up and walking over to the divider and waited. Once he came around the side I handed him a scarf that would go with his shirt. We walked out of his room. "Thank you. And after I am finished with my work, we will go for a walk as I show you around the kingdom." He pauses and started walking towards the front door but he turned around. "If that's okay with you?" He asked and pulled out a chair for me at the table. I smiled as thanks and sat down he sat in front of me. I was about to ask what he did but then remembered I don't know his name.

"Sorry. But I don't entirely remember a lot from earlier seeing as I have seemed to have forgotten your name." I said shyly. He laughed and told me it was Merlin.

"Well then, nice to meet you, Merlin." I held my hand across the table. He smiled as he shook it. "Pleaser yo meet you as well Lady Dawn." He teased. I frowned at the 'lady' and glared at him. He just innocently smiled, causing both of us to laugh.

I made a new friend. Merlin.
