Forest of Fear
Morgana POV
My jet black stallion pawed at the ground restlessly.
"The fire was alight only an hour ago, they have no horses so we should be able to catch them." Informed a soldier. I cruel smile crept on my face.
Emrys.
I cannot wait to end his life, put an end to the problem. "We will ride on." I declared and sent my horse into a gallop, my men following close by. Every stride meant i was getting closer and closer to him.
Merlin POV
I hobbled along behind Arthur and the knights. Arthur, Leon and Percival were walking at the front and Gwaine and Mordred were close behind, occassionly talking - i found them staring at me every few minutes! What is wrong with them? I wracked my brain for an answer but i couldn't find one. It had felt like days since we started walking but i Leon said we had only been walking for an hour. Why didn't the knights bring horses? It would had made this journey a lot quicker. I sighed with boredem.
Soon we reached a bridge. There was a cobblestone path which was covered in a layer of leaves and twigs. Large oak trees towered over the sides of it making me feel even smaller compared to this vast forest. There were a couple of clusters of daisies next to the bridge. The bridge itself was made of old birch wood which was lightly painted with a layer of moss. There were a few gaps in the bridge - it didn't look at all safe. I walked up to the edge and saw a sheer drop met by rushing water. I gulped. I picked up a little pebble and dropped it down the side. It took longer than i would of liked for me to hear the plop as it entered the water.
"This doesn't look safe..." i warned, pointing at the bridge.
"Merlin, you're such a girls petticoat! It will be fine." Replied Arthur.
Percival took one step onto the bridge and it creaked unhappily. He removed his foot and stood back on the bank. His face looked unsure. He took a breath and was about to step on the bridge when he stopped. His determined face was now blank and expressionless. His hands were shaking ever so slightly.
"Percival are you ok?" Asked Gwaine, his voice concerned. Percival did not reply. His whole body now began to shake he bent down and picked up a sharp rock.
"Percival, what are you doing?" Questioned Mordred, who was confused. He turned around and headed to a boulder. He lifted the rock with his shaking hands, i could hear him whispering something
"no escape, no escpae, no escape." Over and over. He lurched at the boulder and started manically carving something into it. Leon strided over to Percival and placed a hand on his shoulder. Percival pulled his arm back and Leon was sent flying, he landed on the floor with a loud thud. Gwaine rushed over to Leon's aid.
"HE'S UNCONCIOUS!" Shouted Gwaine
I turned back round and Percival had stopped scribbling, beads of sweat were running down his forehead, his face a sickly pale colour. He looked drowsy and he was swaying on his feet unsteadily. I rushed behind him and caught him just as his legs crumpled beneath him.
I placed my two fingers at his neck, his heart was beating
"He fainted but his breathing is still a bit unsteady."
"Can you do anything?" Queried Arthur.
"I can try." I replied. Making sure my back was to Arthur so he couldn't see what i was about to do
"Ic þe þurhhæle þin licsare" i whispered. Percival took a deep breath and his breathing returned to normal
"What did you do?" Asked Arthur
"J-just something Gaius taught me to do." I lied. Mordred gave another suspicious look. I shrugged it off again. I walked over to Leon who was still unconcious
"He got quite a knock." Informed Gwaine who was pointing at the gash on Leon's temple. I nodded in agreement and then tore a bit of my t-shirt and bent down next to Leon. I winced as i bent down, Gwaine shot me a concerned stare.
"M'fine." I assured. I tightly tied the make-shift bandage around Leon's wound.
"There we go." I mumbled to myself.
"Merlin." Called Mordred, "Come here... You might want to see this."
Confused i walked over to Mordred's side. My blood ran cold as i saw what Percival had carved into the rock.
Beware Emrys
I felt a deathly chill seep into my skin. The sky turned grey all of a sudden, thunder clapped and lightening lit up the sky. There was a wind that sounded more like a scream. Leaves swirled in a wirlwind and rocks fell into the river below. Five minutes ago the sun was shining but now, it was the complete opposite. Rain lashed down from the sky but the trees provided no shelter whatsoever. It suddenly turned dark,i was struggling to see. Arthur picked up a large branch and ripped a blanket and tied it to the branch. He got the flint and after some struggle he lit it. I picked up a branch and tied more blanket to it. I rested my branch against Arthur's torch until i caught the flame. Mordred followed suit. Gwaine carried Leon's unconcious form over to us. Gwaine, Arthur, Mordred and I formed a defensive circle around the vunreble Leon and Percival. My hair was stuck limply to my forehead due to the torrential rain. I had never felt rain this hard before, the only time was when i was at the Isle of the Blessed facing Nimeuh. Arthur and the knights had drawn their swords, i stood my ground, panic beginning to set in.
It was like the forest was dead. No movement except for the violent swaying of tree branches. I could hear Arthur's heavy breath beside me.
Suddenly i heard an insane laugh echoeing through the forest.
"Did you hear that?" I Whispered
"Yes." Replied Arthur warily. It was silent again except for the hammering of rain on leaves.
I saw a flicker in the surrounding trees. My head whipped around looking for anymore signs of life. There was a bonecrunching Crack as a 300 year old oak came crashing down. The ground shook as it landed infront of the bridge. Arthur span around and jumped out of his skin. Another two trees crashed beside us. It was strange, them trees could have fallen in any position except they fell beside us like they were trapping us in.
We kept our gound, flames dancing infront of us.l we were plunged into pure dar ness.rot was so thick that even the torches did nothing to aid our eyesight.
"Gwaine you here?" Asked Arhur
"Yes Sire."
"Leon are you here?"
"Yes, sire"
"Merlin?"
"Sure am, clotpole." I laughed, attempting to lighten the mood. I had a brief cluster of chuckles but stopped as the biggest strike of lightening illuminated the angry sky. Then the torches blew out...

Left it on a cliffhanger there. I really enjoyed writing that chapter, i hope you enjoyed it too! I think this was 1219 words which may be the longest chapter yet for this book! Last week at school before the summer holidays! Everyone can't wait but i'm kind of sad because i've really enjoyed this year - i've had so many great teachers and experiences!
If this is your last week then hope you have a great week, if you are already off, hope you've been having a great time and if you've gone back (Is that what you do in America? Do you break up earlier than us British?) Then hope you had a great summer term!
Update should be quite soon as i'm really in the mood for writing! :)
