My Best Friend's Sister Part 2

The events of Merida and Hiccup went on for about four months. Jack still didn't realize what was going on between the two. Merida and Hiccup were feeling guiltier every single day they didn't tell Jack. They hadn't meant for it to go on this long. They thought when the time came they would both tell him. But the fear of Jack being angry kept their mouths closed.

It became increasingly awkward when Jack was trying to set Hiccup up so he could get over Astrid, his ex girlfriend. The thing was Hiccup was very over Astrid. They weren't as close as before but were on good terms. He was with Merida and he was happy. Of course Jack didn't know that.

When Hiccup finally had enough of all these set up dates. He confessed to Jack he was already seeing someone but refused to tell him who it was. Which drove Jack crazy.

"You texting your mystery girl?" Jack teased as they waited in line at Target. It was Christmas time so Jack was off buying his gifts with Merida and Hiccup. He loved Christmas. He wasn't satisfied until he got the perfect gift for everyone he knew.

"I am not." Hiccup replied shoving his phone in his pocket.

Merida pretended to be looking at the magazines to avoid eye contact with either of the boys.

Jack placed his items on the conveyer belt. He had gotten Kristoff a new hat since Kristoff lost his old one on a camping trip a couple of months ago. New art supplies for Rapunzel. Eugene, wireless headphones, and one of the many gifts he had bought for his girlfriend Elsa was a snowflake necklace.

"Elsa's going to love this!" He said excitedly. "You think 6 presents is enough for her?"

"She gave you a two present limit after last year." Hiccup said.

Last year Jack had gone overboard and had gotten Elsa eight presents. A scarf, a journal, one mix cd, scented candles, ice skates, a karaoke machine, Starbucks gift card, and a huge chocolate Santa.

He spent 2 months worth of his paycheck on just her gifts. She had been incredibly flattered but she insisted that this year he was only to give her two presents that didn't cost him two months worth of a paycheck.

"She said two presents. So I bought two large gift bags. She never said what I could put into them." Jack smiled.

"She's going to kill you." Hiccup said.

"She'll be too happy to kill me." He replied. "Speaking of happy girlfriends are you going to get your secret girlfriend anything?"

"Yeah have you Hiccup?" Merida asked trying not to smile.

"No I have not, but I was thinking of something." He replied also trying to keep his own grin contained.

"When am I going to meet this girl? I'm beginning to think she isn't real. You haven't even told me her name." Jack said.

"We're just keeping it on the down low. Seeing how things will play out." He said.

"Whatever, I just want to know the girl who got my best friend over Astrid Hofferson."

Merida smiled to herself.

"When are you going to get serious though Hiccup? Is it like a fling? Is that why you don't want me to meet her?" Jack asked,

"No! It's nothing like that! Of course I want you to meet her! It's you already know her- I mean"

Merida eyes grew large as Hiccup became flustered.

"What?! Who is she? Who is she?! You have to tell me now!" Jack yelled with excitement knowing he had gotten more information.

"Hi guys." Rapunzel said coming up to the trio with her boyfriend Eugene. Luckily changing the conversation.

"No no no no! Get away from here!" Jack said trying to cover the conveyer belt to hide his items.

"What?!" Eugene asked.

"Are those out presents?" Rapunzel asked.

"Sh sh no it has to be a surprise turn around now or I will never speak to either of you again!" He commanded.

"Yes sir." Euguene laughed. They both turned around as the items were being checked out.

"How's Christmas break been going?!" Rapunzel asked still turned around.

"Good! Glad to be done with finals." Hiccup said.

"Same here." Merida said.

"You guys are still going to my Christmas party tomorrow right?" Rapunzel asked.

"Of course wouldn't miss it!" Merida replied.

"Jack come on this is getting ridiculous." Eugene said.

"Calm down they are all in the bag now. You can turn around." He said. "You guys didn't see anything right?"

"No Jack we did not." Rapunzel assured him.

"Good." He said. "Now back to our earlier conversation who is she?!" He asked pointing at Hiccup.

"I'm not telling you yet,.." Hiccup said,

"We'll see you guys at the Christmas party. Hiccup I want to hear more about this mystery girl too. So don't think we're dropping the subject." Rapunzel said.

Rapunzel and Eugene walked away from the trio.

"I really hope those wireless headphones are for me." Whispered Eugene to Rapunzel.

She tapped him on the arm "He's going to kill you if he knows you peeked,"

"Shhhhh." He insisted.

Merida, Hiccup, and Jack went to Hiccup's dark SUV. Jack insisting on knowing who this girl was.

"Well how much do you like her then if you're not willing to tell your best friend about her." He said.

Merida's eyebrows raised at the comment.

"I like her a lot. I'll tell you when I'm ready." He replied.

Merida relaxed a bit as Jack gave up for the moment.

Hiccup stopped in front of Jack and Merida's house.

"Do you mind taking Merida to work? I have gifts to wrap." He asked.

"Yeah I don't mind." Hiccup smiled.

"Thanks I owe you one. See you at home Loser."

"Bye Moron." She replied.

Merida got into the front seat and drove off with Hiccup.

"We have to tell him." She said "He's just going to keep asking and asking. Sooner or later he's going to find out." She said.

"I agree. Lets tell him after the Christmas party. He'll be happy about all the presents and stuff." He replied.

Hiccup drove up to Mary's Pizza where Merida worked.

"By the way did I mention how great it is having a girlfriend that works at a pizza place?" He said.

"Even if I smell like salad every time you see me." She said putting her hair in a ponytail.

"I don't mind as long as you bring me back breadsticks." He said.

She rolled her eyes, "I'll see you tomorrow. No backing out,"

"No backing out," he replied. He gave her a quick kiss and she left the car and went into her work.

The next day was the Christmas Party. It would be one of the most memorable Christmas parties the group has ever had,

It started off as usual. Everyone came in. Jack handed out his all his gifts to everyone. Insisting they could not open it until Christmas.

The group went downstairs to Rapunzel's basement and began watching movies or old reruns of their favorite shows.

"Hey Jack wanna get some water?" Hiccup asked.

"Suuure." Jack said.

"Here I'll help you guys," Merida said.

"It's just water." Jack said.

They all walked upstairs to where the kitchen was.

"Okay Jack there is a reason we asked you up here," Hiccup said.

"Okayyy" Jack said suspiciously

There was an awkward silence. Hiccup and Merida kept looking at each other. Wondering who was going to just come out and say it.

"Me and Hiccup are dating." Merida finally said.

Jack eyes widen in surprise but then he smiled. "Nice try Merida." Jack looked over to his best friend. Who just looked at him with apologetic eyes and shook his head yes.

"No no no!!" Jack yelled. His eyes turned from playful to angry.

"I'm sorry we didn't tell you we just thought you would be....well how you are right now." Hiccup said

"She's my sister!" Jack yelled. "You're supposed to be my best friend and you decided to take advantage of my sister's crush on you?"

"He did not! Hiccup has been nothing but good to me! Stop it Jack really!" Merida yelled.

"Woah what's going on up here?" Kristoff asked coming up from the basement.

"Jack you have to understand! It's not some one time deal. I'm in love with her!" Hiccup said.

Jack had enough. Jack tackled Hiccup to the ground. The two rolled on the ground trying to out strengthen the other. Hiccup had gained the upper hand trying to pin his friend down but Jack's elbow collided with Hiccup's cheek knocking him down again.

"Woah that's enough." Kristoff said holding Jack back. The rest of the gang ran up to see what was happening.

"What the hell?" Anna asked.

"Apparently Hiccup is dating Merida and Jack sort of tackled Hiccup." Kristoff said.

"Jack?!" What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Elsa yelled at her boyfriend.

Merida took Hiccup outside to the porch. He sat there while Merida got him some ice.

"Jack we need to have a talk now." Elsa demanded.

"Alone." She added.

The rest of the group went back downstairs whispering about the commotion that just happened.

"Elsa she's my baby sister!"

"She's not a baby anymore Jack! She's sixteen almost seventeen. We were dating when I was her age." She said.

"That's different!"

"How?" She asked him.

"Because I wasn't using you to get over an ex girlfriend."

"Do you honestly think Hiccup. Our Hiccup would do that?" She asked.

"No....no but he....they.....they didn't even tell me." He said.

"Because they were afraid you would act like this. Jack I know you. You care so much and that's what I love about you. But if you smother her she's just going to run away and do it anyway." She said.

Elsa glanced toward the glass door and saw Hiccup holding a pack if ice to his cheek. His other hand was holding Merida's. As she kept shaking her head apologizing.

"Does that look like a fling to you?" Elsa said pointing towards the glass door.

Jack looked just in time to see Hiccup put his ice pack on Merida's neck causing her to flinch and for them to laugh as she swatted him. They went back to their previous hand holding as Hiccup held the ice pack to his cheek.

"I'm a total jerk." He sighed

"No you're not, you just acted like one because you were hurt and angry. Go on I'll see you downstairs." She said and kissed him on the cheek.

Jack walked over to the glass door and slid it open to access the porch.

"I want to apologize." He said.

"No it's -"

"Just let me finish." He said. "I was angry, I thought you were using my little sister to get over Astrid. Which, I know, is crazy idea. But Merida you're my little sister, and I'm your big brother. I want to protect you no matter how much you get on my nerves sometime. Anyway I realized that You and Hiccup do seem to care for one another. No matter how weird and uncomfortable it makes me right now I'll get over it. I love you guys and I want you to be happy. Hiccup I'm sorry I hit you and misjudged you...and just kind of went crazy for a couple of minutes."

"Thanks Jack that means a lot to us." Hiccup said.

"It really does Jack." Merida replied.

"Well I'm going to give you kids some alone time, but don't be too long....I mean it."

"We won't." Merida replied.

Jack went back into the house and joined the others downstairs.

"Well besides getting elbowed in the face I think that went very well." Hiccup said.

"How is your face doing anyway?" She asked.

"Alright. Sore but alright."

"Did you mean what you said? That you love me?" She asked.

"Yes." He replied without hesitation.

She smiled, "Good because I love you too."

He smiled in disbelief.

"What?" She asked.

"Nothing I just can't believe I fell in love with my best friend's sister."

"That's okay I can't believe it either." She replied.
