Jewelry boxes and Janitor's closets
"Jack it's not going to work." Elsa said
"Elsa of course it's going to work they love each other we just gotta give them a little push."
"Jack they hate each other."
"They do not."
"Jack she threw a jewelry box at him. A jewelry box there is no going back from that."
"I don't get it these two dated for two whole years! That's like forever in high school years."
"Is that how you feel with us Jack that it's been forever?." She looked skeptically at Jack.
"No but I hope it is forever." Jack said making puppy eyes
"Flattery will get you nowhere Jack I'm not helping you with this."
"Oh come on you've seen how terrible they are without each other."
"Jack they fought."
"So do we but all of us always end up making up."
"Jack she threw a jewelry box."
"Would you quit saying that."
"Jack I have to go to math and you have history I'll talk to you after school okay?" Elsa said
"Okay but you'll see it'll be just like freshman year again."
Elsa had noticed her friend's distress. Merida had been pretty upset over the break up. No one really remembers who broke up with whom. Everyone knew why they broke up though. Their constant bickering was usually lighthearted but one day it went sour. Merida got mad and started yelling and Hiccup said some hurtful things causing her to throw said jewelry box at his head. Luckily Hiccup knew how to duck. Ever since then the two haven't been seen together.
Merida was on edge though. Whenever Elsa talked to Merida she just answered everything in a bitter tone. While Hiccup just didn't seem to care; all he did was shrug all the time. One of the things that used to drive Merida mad.
After math was her free period. She had to wait for Jack since he got out after her.
She was walking down the halls when she heard something come from the janitor's closet. Like a whimper.
She opened it up and turned the light on. There in the closet was a mess of red flaming hair crying her eyes out. Merida never cried unless she was seriously injured or emotionally hurt. The only time she saw Merida cry was when her beloved horse Angus died.
"Merida? What happened?" Elsa said closing the door behind her and going to her friend.
"He just stared right through me. He hates me Elsa he hates me." She said trying to compose herself but failing.
"Hiccup?"
"Yes Hiccup I ran into him in the hall and he just looked at me and kept walking like he barely noticed I was there. I know we had a break up and everything but Ive never seen him so cold and just uncaring." Merida cried into her friends shoulder.
"Hey I'm sure he doesn't hate you."
"Elsa I threw a jewelry box at him!"
"I know but he said some hurtful things and you got mad remember your both at fault."
"God this is pathetic who the hell cries like this over an uncaring look from their ex boyfriend."
"A person who has feelings and cares."
"God Elsa what am I going to do?"
"Well for now we can stay in here if you want. I just need to text Jack okay?"
"Okay."
Elsa got out her phone and began texting Jack
Elsa: Jack I'm here with Merida and she's a wreck in the janitors closet this is worse then we thought knock some sense into Hiccup.
Jack: How bad is she Jewelry box bad or Angus bad?
Elsa: Angus bad
Jack: holy crap I'm on it.
Jack flicked Hiccup in the back of the head in the middle of gym class.
"Hey what was that for?"
"For being an idiot! What the hell did you do?"
"I don't know what you're talking about?"
"What did you do to Merida today!"
"I ran into her in the halls and I just kept walking what else is there to say."
"I don't know but you must done something because Elsa is comforting her in the freaking Janitor's closet."
"What?!"
"You heard me! Now go to her now."
"And do what? Get janitor supplies thrown at me!?"
"God Hiccup she's pass the point of mad okay Elsa told me she's in Angus mode."
Hiccup's face finally showed the emotions he was hiding for so long. Guilt, worried, sadness, all showed on his face in that moment.
"Oh god what did I do?" Hiccup said.
"Let's see you pretended like she didn't exist for weeks and then when you finally ran into each other you made it known that you pretended like she wasn't there."
"I'm a horrible horrible person."
"You can fix it you know where she is. Janitors closet math building."
"Just tell Mr.Aster..."
"Already on it." Jack said "go on."
Hiccup ran off the field and went straight to the math building. He knocked on the janitor's closet.
Elsa opened the door. And looked at him.
"You better fix this right now." She said.
"I know just let me talk to her."
"Fine." She said.
Hiccup went in and closed the door.
"What are you doing in here?" Merida asked wiping the tears from her face.
"I'm here to apologize for making you feel like this. Merida god I didn't know....."
"You looked at me like I didn't even exist do you know how hurtful that was Hiccup. I know we had a terrible break up and I know we haven't talked about it but two years Hiccup. Two years and you just drop me off the face of the Earth."
"I know you deserve better than that. But I couldn't even bare to look at you Mer. I just god I miss you so much and me looking at you just brought everything up so I buried it back down and I hurt you and myself when I did that."
"Yeah you did."
"Merida what else do you want me to say! I'm sorry I said all those things I'm sorry I ignored you I'm sorry I couldn't be a good boyfriend to you!"
"That's the problem! You were! You were one of the only people who I trusted in! Who made me feel special. You were the best and that's why it hurt so much to have you just just...." Merida began sobbing again. She couldn't help it. Hiccup finally just took her in his arms and stroked her hair.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry Mer. I'm so sorry I did this to you."
"You don't hate me do you?" She asked stilling clinging to his gym shirt.
"No I could never hate you." He said.
"I'm sorry I threw that jewelry box at you."
"Hey it's okay you were just testing out my reflexes." He joked.
She stifled a laugh.
"I'm sorry I did and said all those things. I never meant them I was just so angry and....I'm sorry."
The janitor's closet became quiet. Finally to break the tension Hiccup said.
"Remember that one time I snuck you out when you were grounded?"
Merida laughed wiping her tears away. "Yeah I was grounded and my mom had to go leave to pick up my brothers and I called you to pick me up and sneak me out. I went down the driveway and there was my mum pulling up."
"And you jumped into the passenger seat and I turned the keys and your mom came up to the window and said "Hiccup don't you dare hit the gas pedal."
"And you slammed your foot against it and she chased us for two blocks." She said.
"I do remember that we went to the beach and when we got home your parents and my parents had to stage an intervention just to prove how much in trouble we were in."
"I thought my mum wasn't going to let me see you again after that."
"So did I." He said looking at her "I was glad she did let me after those two weeks."
"Hiccup?"
"Yeah?"
"That day at the beach was the day I fell in love with you."
"Really? Because I think I fell in love with you once my foot hit the gas."
"I missed you." She said.
"I missed you too." He said
Authors note: wow a lot more angst Crap I was going to make this funny( i put a little lighthearted moments in there) but I don't know I thought it would be interesting for a little more angst. I also wanted to put that you should never do what Hiccup did. i know it may seem like he didn't do much but it feels terrible when someone you care/cared about so much just pretends like you're not there. It's a terrible thing to experience and if you have I am so sorry Thanks @PrincessSelene04 for the request! I hope you all liked it and please comment vote and request!
