27: Misunderstandings

NOTE: Some Love stories aren't meant for happy endings; I didn't plan one for Adeel and Jessica, for all of you wondering what happened to Jess.
I did try to give them a fair ending but it's just not sounding right to me. :/
I might do something about them later on but as of now, I don't think I will.

The chapter name is lame LOL

Happy Reading !!

ROOP's POV

I slipped my arms through the net sleeves and arched my back, as I tried to pull the zip up from behind. Once I was done, I stopped and smiled at my reflection in the mirror. I traced my hand along my empty neck and wondered if I should wear something with the dress. I didn't bring any jewellery with me; just the heart shaped pendant that Waqas gave me.

That reminded me; I looked up at the wall clock and sighed. Waqas left with Adeel to meet Hussain but when I met Hussain, I realised he never met Waqas. And now I am at ready for the night already and he isn't even back yet.

Even Malvika wasn't sitting by the pool when we went back; I just hope they weren't together.

Besides, I have a feeling he came here for her more than me. Otherwise, why would he plan this out of the blue? What if he came here only to see her?

Par aisa bhi Toh ho sakta hai yeh sab sach mein mere liye ho?

Fazool main Kuch zada hi soch rahi hoon main.

"Ma Shah Allah."

A whisper startled me and I instantly looked behind me through the mirror's reflection. Seeing Waqas standing by the door frame, a smile made its way to my lips and I instantly turned around to look at him.

"Kahan Gayab the? Call bhi answer Nahi kiya!" I complained as I folded my arms in front of my chest.

He chuckled as he came inside and closed the bedroom's door behind him. "Adeel Aur Hussain Ke saath tha Yaar, we were watching him rehears."

Hussain Ke saath Toh main thi.

"Roop, Yaar! Itni si baat par rona kaisa?" He sighed. I raised my hand and touched my cheek, only to find it wet with tears I didn't even know were there.

"Ab aa Gaya hoon na Aur poori sham Tere saath hi rahunga," he smiled at me as he approached me and kissed my forehead.

I sighed, relieved, and nodded at him. Isse selfishness kaho ya pyaar, mujhe aapko Kisi Aur Ke saath baant'ne Ke khayal Se bhi nafrat hai.

"Now can I go and get ready? We are late!" Waqas chuckled, and I shook my head. "Let's not go. Let's just stay here. Mujhe bas saari raat aapse baatien karni hai."

"Are you mad?" He stepped back and frowned at me, "this is your dream. Aur baatein Toh kabhi bhi ho sakti Hein. Yeh raat dobara Nahi aayegi."

I sighed, helplessly. "Waqas, mujhe ajeeb Si bechaini ho rahi hai; hum kaheen Nahi—"

He hugged me, instantly shutting me up. His arms tightened around me and I found myself melting in his warmth as I hid my face in the crook of his neck. Like all the tension vanished in thin air.

"Still scared?" He mumbled against my hair as he slowly ran his fingers through them. I nodded my head in response and he pecked my shoulder, making me squirm under his touch. His hands loosened around me before he slowly steeped away again, almost taking a piece of me with him.

"Throughout the evening, I'll hold your hand like this," his fingers traced along my wrist before his hand slowly slipped in mine, "ab darr Nahi lagega, Okay?"

I looked down at our hands and a chuckle escaped my lips. He is here; with me. "Aise Nahi... Aise," I spoke as I wrapped my arm around his', "stay close."

He frowned at me for a second before a smile made its way to his lips. "Pakka promise. Now may I go and I get ready?"

Hum aise hi Nahi Reh sakte? Mujhe Nahi jana kaheen bhi.

"Roka kisne hai?" I shrugged, stepping away from him, "Kab Se sir kha rahe ho khare khare. Hmph."

"Main sir kha raha hoon?" He raised his eyebrow at me and I nodded at him. Just when He took a step towards me, I kept my palm on his chest and pushed him away.

"Ab late Nai ho raha?" I asked, pushing him towards the washroom, "go get ready!"

WAQAS' POV

"Someone pinch me please!" Roop mumbled as we stepped inside the grand hall. I glanced at her and slowly tightened my grip around her hand.

"This is as real as you and I," I whispered to her and slowly a smile appeared on her lips,  making my heart skip a beat.

"Thanks for giving this to me," She whispered back.

"Anything for you," I smiled at her as my eyes roamed around her beautiful face. Hotel hi rukk jaate.

"There you are! I have been looking for you guys!" Adeel annoyingly interrupted us and I groaned internally.

"You are looking pretty bhabhi," He smiled at Roop, "reminded me of that princess and frog story."

His comment made me choke on air, reminding me of what Roop had said to me at the hospital. I am not a frog!

"Exactly! I was saying the same thing to Waqas," Roop winked at me before looking back at Adeel, "Adeel will you please take me to my seat? I don't want to be seen with a frog."

"My pleasure," He grinned at her as he offered her his arm.

"Oh hello, dono sharam kar lo thori," I smacked Adeel's head and he instantly raised his hand to rub the spot. I looked at Roop and huffed, "ab iss frog ke aas paas bhi mat dikhna."

I was about to walk away from them when Roop held my arm and pulled me back.

"Waise hi itna gol sa mooh hai, phula lete ho toh gubbara ban jaata hai," She chuckled, "And don't forget, you told me you will hold my hand like this."

Her fingers slipped between mine again and I shook my head as she smiled at me.

"Poori raat yaheen guzaarne ka iraada hai toh pehle bata do, "Adeel poked his nose between us again, "Aur bhi kaam hai mujhe."

"Bhai, bacche nahi hai hum, seat dhoond lenge apne aap, tu nikal," I groaned.

"Aage se help maangi toh dekh liyo," He huffed as he stepped away from us, "Saale, ehsaan faramo-- Oye!"

He yelped as a girl bumped into him from behind and both of them lost their balance, gracefully falling down in front of us.

"Adeel Yaar!" She shrieked, "insaan ho ya bulldozer? Dekh Ke chala karo!"

"Mere sir Ke Peeche aankhein Nahi hai, Tere sir Ke aage Toh Hein!" He groaned as he stood up, "khud Dekh leti!"

She brushed her hair away from her face and huffed, looking up at us.

Soha!

"Kahan Se pakar Ke laye ho yeh janwar, Waqas?" She asked me as she took off her, now broken, heels.

"Arrey bhool gayi? I was the zoo keeper of the zoo where you lived a few years ago!" He chuckled, rolling his eyes at her.

"Agar yeh joke tha Toh Bohot downmarket tha!" she scoffed and I held my hand out to help her stand up again.

"But not more than you," Adeel countered back, earning a gasp from her. I chuckled, waiting for her reply but she punched me instead.

"Apni tarhan insaan hi bana dete isse, zindagi main Kuch Toh dhang Ka karo!" She glared at me before limping away.

"Maine kya kiya?" I widened my eyes at her retrieving back. Yeh larkiyan na, jab samjha Nahi aaya kya bole Toh Sara blame Mujhe pe daal Kar chali gayi!

"Adeel, see she is hurt, you should help her," Roop suggested, concerned, "tumne sorry bhi Nahi bola usse."

He looked back at Soha and snorted, "attitude Toh dekho! Main Nahi bolne Wala sorry."

"Kabhi kabhi Kisi ek Ke jhukne Se baat ban jaati hai, go say sorry and help her out. Usse back stage kitna kaam hoga, Kaise karegi akele?"

I smiled at Roop as she pushed Adeel to go after Soha.

"Acha fine," he sighed, defeated, "I am going but look after him; I think he is losing his mental balance. See they way he is smiling?"

Roop looked at me and frowned.

Who me?!

"Saale! Tu pagal, nikal yahan Se!" I yelled at Adeel and almost punched him but, he laughed and ran away.

"He is an idiot," I grumbled, looking back at Roop. She was smiling at me.

"He is," she sighed, "at least you were smiling two seconds ago. Ab fir Se khadoos mode on!"

"I am not khadoos," I told her, earning a nod from her.

"I know! You are too cute for that," she giggled and pouted when I frowned.

"Itna pyaar, Woh bhi mujhpe? Tabyat theek hai?" I asked her, teasingly, and that made her giggle again.

"Jee theek hai, bas kabhi kabhi aa jata hai!"

Mujhe bhi!

"Yeh raat Bohot lambi hone wali hai," I sighed, "I have so much planned for tomorrow! Ahh!"

"Tomorrow? What for?" She frowned at me like she didn't know anything about tomorrow.

"Jee Haan, birthday Toh Mera hai, aap kyun yaad rakhengi," I rolled my eyes at her.

"Par apka Toh Feb main aata hai na?" She asked me to confirm and I stared at the deep lines that formed on her forehead.

"Kal Toh Mera hai, nai?" She questioned, narrowing her eyes at me. I blankly stared at her for a few seconds, wondering if she is playing along or she really dropped her brain somewhere.

"Haw!" She gasped all of a sudden,"you planned something my birthday?"

"Haw! Einstein!" I mimicked her and slapped her head.

"Mere Baal, Waqas!" She scowled, pushing me away.

"Tu kabhi kabhi itni dimag wali baatien karti hai, Mujhe apne dimag main doubt hone lagta hai!" I sighed, shaking my head, and to my surprise, she shrugged at me. "Woh apki problem hai!"

"It's pointless arguing with you," I sighed again, "let's go find our seats."

"Argue karni bhi Nahi chahiye, you should know by now that I am always right," She nodded at me, "and you are the one wasting our time, Chalo!"

Before I could say something back she stuck her tongue out at me and I Laughed, giving up.

"Tu pagal hi rahegi hamesha!" I chuckled, slipping my hand in her's again, as promised, and pulled her along with me. We strolled around a few tables and finally spotted ours, closer to the stage.

"Take a seat, I'll just be back," I told her as I pulled a seat out for her and she instantly looked up at me the way she did in the hotel room.

"You told me you won't go," She reminded me in a small whisper and I gulped the tension down my throat. My eyes roamed around her face, while I couldn't understand the reason behind her stress.

"Main yaheen hoon," I cupped her cheek in my palm, "let me just get something to drink for us, yeah?"

She was holding my hand so tightly, it took me a while to help her relax and she slowly left me. I stepped away from her and smile,

"Bas abhi aya."

MALVIKA's POV

"Just let me know what the doctor says, I'll try and come back as early as possible," I rubbed my temple out of tension and nodded to myself as Megha tried to calm me down. I ended the call and released a frustrated sigh before taking a sip from my lemonade.

"What happened? You look tensed!" Someone remarked beside me and I turned to look at the person.

"What are you doing here?" I frowned at Waqas, taking another sip from my drink.

"That doesn't answer my question," he pointed out before calling the bartender.

"Two ginger peach Soda," he placed his order and looked at me again, "come on? What happened?"

"Nothing much, Manik was sick the whole night so I was just talking to Megha," I told him, "ab tum batao, tum yahan akele?"

"No I am not," he smiled, shaking his head, "I am just here to get the drinks for Roop and I."

"Oh Yeah? Where is she?" I asked him as I looked behind me to search all the tables. I spotted her on a table, near the stage, and then smiled at Waqas.

"Bohot alag Si dikhti hai sabke beech, maan'na parega Nosh Ki choice Ko," I chuckled and Waqas nodded at me.

"Not just Nosh, but you too," he smiled at me, making me raise an eyebrow at him.

"In fact, I wanted to meet you since a couple of days and thank you," he sighed and sat down on the stool behind him, "she was just not my type and if it wasn't for you, I would have said no to Nosh and my parents."

"Sir your drinks," the bar tender kept down two tall glasses in front of Waqas and he acknowledged him with a nod.

"Are you happy with your decision?" I asked him.

"Happy? I can't even begin to explain," he chuckle, "Roop was this annoying neighbour. I married her only because of you. Only because you forced me too. Agar Tu zid na karti Toh main Roop jaisi larki Se shadi Ke liye kabhi Han Nahi karta but only for you man!"

He ran a hand through his hair, staring at the brown bench top.

"Jab humari shadi fix hui, I thought I was being pushed in a well. Andar hi andar dam ghutt raha tha. Usse letter main likh kar bataya bhi tha Ki main usse kabhi pyaar Nahi Kar sakta, bas yeh soch Kar Ki Woh mana Kar degi. Par Woh Toh gale hi pard gayi yaar."

"That doesn't answer my question," I frowned at him with he took a long pause. He slowly looked up at me and smiled.

"I can't tell you how thankful I am that you and Nosh pushed me into this and that Roop didn't back off," he spoke, "usse acchi life partner Mujhe kabhi Nahi milegi, Malvika. Usse mil Kar Jana, mohabbat usse shaks Se Nahi Ki jaati jiske saath rehne Ko dil chahta hai, mohabbat usse Ki jaati hai, jiske bina jeena mushkil ho."

"And I can't live without her," he laughed.

I looked down, blinking away the unruly tears in my eyes. How I had thought I ruined his life; it's amazing to see him like this.

"She is a crazy addition in my life, and I can't thank you enough for that! I love her Yaar!" He grinned at me, widening his eyes. Love for Roop was evident in not just his voice but eyes too.

"Usse bataya?" I asked him and his grin dropped, making me frown.

"Ek baar, when she was sleeping," he sighed, "himmat hi Nahi hoti. Uske saamne dimag par taala lag jata hai."

"Mujhe laga hi tha, you are an idiot," I chuckled, "jisse batana chahiye, usse bataya hi Nahi. Aisi baaton Ke liye wait Nahi karte; kya pata agle hi pal kya ho jaye? What are you waiting for? Just tell her right now!"

"No," he shook his head and smiled, "Kal uska birthday, I'll Tell her this when she wakes up. You know, first she will freak out, then she will cry a bit, then she will hug me and then she will give me attitude! I can bet on that!"

"Itna jaante ho usse?" I mirrored his smile, feeling weirdly satisfied.

"Nah," he rolled his eyes, "ab thora thora jaan'ne laga hoon. She is a mystery, you—"

"Waqas! Tum yahan ho!" Someone hit him on his shoulder, stopping him from finishing, "I was looking for you everywhere. Your wife– Roop. Just come with me!"

"What happened?" Waqas asked the girl while I turned to look at Waqas' table, but Roop wasn't there.

The girl tugged on his arm again and he got up instantly. "She is in the parking lot! Chalo!"

Parking lot?

ROOP's POV

I tapped my foot on the ground, impatiently waiting for Waqas while he was gone to get us something to drink. Drink lene Gaye Hein ya banane? I huffed as I looked down at me wrist and groaned, realising I was not wearing my wrist watch. I opened my clutch and pulled out my phone to check the time.

The show was about to start and people were coming in like ants but Waqas wasn't back yet. Giving up, I decided to look for him. I turned in my seat to see behind me and spotted Waqas in front of an empty bar counter; the other counters had men and women buzzing around them but not that one. Realising he was talking to someone, I rolled my eyes. Yahan main wait Kar rahi hoon Aur inhein kuch Padi hi Nahi hai Meri!

Making sure to not get tangled in my own dress, I stood up and approached him. Only from a few meters away, I realised he was sitting with Malvika and my feet halted.

Of course, dayr toh honi hi thi.

"So what if they are sitting together? It's okay," I mumbled to myself.

But Waqas didn't have to lie to me about getting drinks for us! Bata Kar bhi jaa sakte the!

I was fighting with my own conscience when I heard Waqas' voice, loud and clear in this crowd.

"Roop was this annoying neighbour. I married her only because of you. Only because you forced me too. Agar Tu zid na karti Toh main Roop jaisi larki Se shadi Ke liye kabhi Han Nahi karta but only for you man!. Jab humari shadi fix hui, I thought I was being pushed in a well."

"Andar hi andar dam ghutt raha tha. Usse letter main likh kar bataya bhi tha Ki main usse kabhi pyaar Nahi Kar sakta, bas yeh soch Kar Ki Woh mana Kar degi. Par Woh Toh gale hi pard gayi yaar."

His words made my heart fall deep into the hollow pit of my stomach. My throat ached as I fought back the tears in my eyes. Not wanting or needing to hear more, I stepped away from them. I desperately wanted someone to pinch me, wake me up from this dream. It wasn't even a dream; it was a nightmare.

'Roop jaisi larki Se shadi Ke liye kabhi Han Nahi karta but only for you man.'

Sirf uske liye Waqas?

I need to cool down, I told myself and stopped a waiter, asking for Water. He directed me towards a bar counter and I almost raced towards it out of desperation.

"Pani!" I asked at the counter, almost making the bartender frown at me.

"Water, juice, something to drink— anything!" I failed to correct myself. He gave me a worried look before pointing at a glass that looked like lemonade to me.

"Would you like to try Spiced Lemon and T—"

"Yes!" I nodded at him and he passed me a tall glass with clear, bubbly liquid in it. There were a few pieces of lime in it too that I didn't care about.

Running a hand through my hair, I sat down on the stood and sucked in a deep breath, not caring about my bun.  I wanted to go back to our hotel, curl into a ball and cry for hours.

What if I heard something wrong? I Should talk to Waqas about it! Par unke paas bolne Ke liye kuch hoga hi Nahi; I heard him loud and clear already!

On one hand I wanted to pretend I never heard anything but on the other, I wanted Waqas to tell me what I heard was wrong.

'Par Woh Toh gale hi pard gayi yaar!' His words were hurting my heart like bullets.

He doesn't want to be with me. Main kya Kar rahi hoon? Why I am I here? Am I forcing this marriage on him?

I thought things were getting better between us.

I was so wrong!

WAQAS' POV

"Kahan hai Woh?" I asked Neha, one of Soha's make up artists, as we ran out towards the parking lot. Roop was sitting on the table hardly fifteen minutes ago, then what happened all of a sudden?

"I saw her beside that car when I came out for fresh air. She seemed a little off when I tried talking to her," she told me, making me even more worried.

"You check in here, I'll see outside," I told Neha and Malvika, who was running behind because of her awfully high heels. They agreed with me on that and I ran out, looking for Roop.

Pagal larki, Kahan chali gayi?

"Found her?" A voice spoke and I turned around when I felt a presence behind me.

"Where?" I asked Malvika and she shook her head.

"I Am not telling you, I am asking," she made it clear and I sighed, threading my fingers through my hair. As soon as I turned away from her, a figure captured my attention. And there she was! Sitting crosslegged on the footpath, next someone's car.

Taking small steps, I walked near her, roaming my eyes from her head to toe. Her beautifully done hair were now a mess; she wasn't letting me touch her hair half an hour ago, and now they looked like they haven't been combed for days. Her long gown had crumbled and creased because of the ball-like position she was sitting in. So fragile.

"Roop?" I whispered softly as I slowly kneeled beside her. Reaching out, I kept my hand on her shoulder and she slowly looked up at me. A faint smile appeared on her lips as she blinked at me.

"Oh you finally got time for me," She giggled softly. My eyes kept reminding me what a mess she was right now. Her breath slapped my face, making me frown at the unpleasant smell.

"What did you have in there?" I asked her, concerned, and she pulled out four fingers. "Lemonade. Mirchi Wala. Karela!"

She scrunched up her nose, "Woh sala gora! Usne Aur Dene Se mana Kar diya! Mujhe pyaas lagi hai." She pouted, leaning towards me, "ro Ro ke dehydration ho jayegi. Aur fir main seeeeeeeedha oopar!"

I flinched back, landing on my butt, when she almost smacked my face while stretching her arm to point towards the sky.

"Main marrr jaungi!" She whispered, slurring her words, and then looked right into my eyes before whispering, "phir aapka raasta saaf!"

"Yeh tum kaisi baatien Kar rahi ho? Chalo get up, let's go back," I told her, not getting a single thing she was trying to say. I tried making her stand up but she shook her head and looked away, ignoring me.

"Roop zidd Nahi karte, come on," I spoke as I held her arm and forced to stand again.

"No, leave me!" She winced, resisting me, "I hate you!"

"Yeah whatever, I love you too, Roopwanti," I rolled my eyes, dragging her with me, "Now come on!"

"Haww liar liar pants on fire!" She giggled beside me while she tried pushing me away, "you don't love me! Jhootey!"

Excuse me?

I huffed and turned to look at her, "really? How do you know?"

"It's simple," she giggled again, pulling her hand out of my grip. I slowly left her and she almost danced in her spot, swinging here and there.

"You love her, she loves you!" My jaw dropped slightly when she pointed behind me and then at me while grinning proudly, "And I am the piggy in the middle!"

I looked behind me and spotted Malvika. What's wrong with Roop? That's not true. Not anymore.

"Roop," I stepped towards her to hold her hand but she Yanked her hand away from me. "Don't touch me, you liar! I hate you so much!"

'Aisi baato Ke liye wait Nahi karte; kya pata agle hi pal kya ho jaye?'

Malvika was right!

"Roop lets go back, I have to tell you something," I stepped towards her again and this time I grabbed her hand firmly. She tried pushing me away again but I pulled her closer, keeping her near me.

"Kaha na kuch batana hai, Chalo. Please?"

"No! I don't want to go with you! I don't like you!" She screamed, slapping my chest to push me away.

"Roop please, calm down," I heard a whisper behind us; someone I totally forgot was here for a moment. Malvika came forward and frowned at us, "humaare beech kuc—"

"You stay out of it! Yeh mere Aur mere husband Ke beech Ki baat hai!" Roop yelled before Malvika could finish, and pushed me again. She didn't have to put much effort into it this time as I left her myself.

"No wait! Tum kyun jaogi? Jana Toh Mujhe chahiye. Beech main Toh main aayi hoon. The piggy! Nahi?" Roop frowned at Malvika and I ran a hand through my hair, helpless.

"What's wrong with you Roop? Stop it," I whispered to her, trying to keep my cool, "kuch bhi bina soche samjhe Bol rahi ho."

"Bina soche samjhe?" She asked, chuckling, "itne mahine sab chup chap samajh hi Toh rahi thi!"

She huffed, letting out a loud scream. "In madam ke liye kabhi office Ke bahar wait karna, restaurant Jana, New York chale aana! Why is she so important Waqas? Hamara Toh rishta bhi iske Meherbaani hai!"

"Do you realise, I am the one who changed her life for you?" She asked, leaning right into my face, "Toh fir yeh itni important kyun hai? Kyun Sara pyaar isk liye, Haan?"

"Waqas I think I should go," Malvika spoke up when Roop paused to suck in a deep breath. I passed her an apologetic look while she blinked at me with worried eyes.

"Arrey tum chali jaogi Toh inka kya hoga? Koi naya order Toh deti jao," Roop's smile made me sick. It was shocking how much she held inside her.

"Roop stop it," I hissed at her in an authoritative tone only to be ignore by her.

"Dekho Zara," she pointed at me while staring at Malvika, "kitna pareshaan hai tumhaari waja Se. Kaisi irritating larki Se shadi kara di tumne inke! Main Toh inke type Ki hi Nahi hoon na!"

She walked closer to Malvika and smiled, mockingly, "he married me for your happiness, hain na? Kya mila tumhein Yeh sab Kar Ke, Haan?"

"Roo—"

"My marriage, my husband, but all he cares about is you!" She screamed again; she was shaking out of anger that she had hidden inside her for quite some time now, "kyun kiya mere saath aise? Why did you ruin my life, Han?"

"Tum galat samajh raho ho Roop. I swear I didn't—" Malvika tried to explain as tears escaped her eyes that Roop clearly ignored.

"Jab apni ungliyon par nachana tha Toh apne paas hi rakh leti na meri zindagi kyun barbad Ki? Khud kar leti Shadi!"

Grabbing Roop's arm, I pulled her back to face me. Her own face was drenched with angry tears. I hated the sight of them. And I hated her right now!

"I am warning you, just shut up!" I hissed at her.

"Look Malvika, my husband is fighting with me for you!" Roop smiled so innocently, making me feel uncomfortable, "kitna pyaar karte Hein tumse. Aur tumne dil tod diya inka! Kitni heartless ho tum!"

"Just shut up Roop, you don't even know what you are saying right now."

"You know what, I don't blame you," Roop ignored me again. While I tried holding her back, she kept taking out her anger, "tumse Toh apne bacche Ke baap Tak Ke Qadar Nahi hui Toh—"

"Bas!" I didn't realise when anger made me lose all the control over my body and I raised my hand, to slap Roop. Something held me back from doing so, tying a tight knot in my gut, and my hand stopped in mid air. I couldn't dare to hurt this girl. The girl whom I love.

And she thinks I ruined her life. Uske lafzo main kahoon Toh barbaad Kar di Maine uski zindagi.

"Waqas pagal ho Gaye ho!" Malvika pushed me away, breaking my chain of thought, "what the heck do you think you were doing?"

"Rukk kyun Gaye? Maaro na!" Roop provoked me from Behind Malvika, "yahi baki Reh Gaya tha bas!"

"Please stop fighting guys, I'll leave you alone okay? Please stop it!" Malvika screamed, shutting up Roop instantly. Before I could stop her, she ran away, leaving the two of us alone.

I blinked at Roop, not wanting to believe she is the same girl I came here with. What happened to my wife? This girl, right here, was a stranger who I hated.

"You hate me!" She grinned at me and I looked away, disgusted, "I hate you and I hate her too!"

"She is gone! Ab kise suna rahi ho?" I snapped at her, "You have no idea what you have done! Chalo yaha se!"

I grabbed her arm and dragged her back to the parking lot. The show had probably begun so there was hardly anyone out here. Once we reached our rented car, I opened the door for her and forced her to sit inside despite her protest. By the time I walked over to my side, she had already passed out.

I sat next to her, staring at her calm face. It was still red with white patches of dry tears. Malvika was right, I should have told you about my feelings earlier.

'Kya pata agle hi pal kya ho jaye?'

Ho Gaya jo hona tha.

ROOP's POV

'Andar hi andar dum ghutt raha tha!"

'Woh Toh gale hi pard gayi!'

'Roop jaisi larki!'

'Stop it Roop!'

"Aah!" I groaned, opening my eyes, running away from the nightmare. Sharp light tortured my eyeballs, forcing me to close my eyes again. My head was aching like someone had thrown brick at me or played Metal music inside my head for hours.

Feeling thirsty, I slowly sat up against the head board and slowly opened my eyes to look for the water Jug. The first thing my eyes saw was Waqas, who was sitting on a rocking chair, just near the foot of the bed, staring at me.

"Good morning," I unwillingly smiled while his conversation with Malvika from last night replayed in my head. He left me alone for her!

But what am I doing here? What happened at the show? I thought to myself, straining my brain. I don't remember a thing!

"It's three in the afternoon actually," he spoke, breaking the silence. What?

Waqas got up from the rocking chair and moved closer to me. Just when I thought he would sit beside me and tell me what I heard was not true, he walked past me. I frowned when he picked up two tables and a glass of water from the night stand.

"Yeh lo, sir main Bohot dard hoga na?" He passed them to me and I frowned at him. "Aapko Kaise—"

"And have this lemonade after it. Saara Nasha utar jaayega," he pointed at a glass.

My eyes widened at the word he used there. "Nasha? What?" I gasped at him.

I gulped the dry lump in my throat as I tried to recall events from last night. I didn't even remember anything a from the ramp walk. All that echoed in my head were his words.

"Aaj tumhaara birthday hai, cake Nahi katogi?" He smiled faintly and walked out of the room. I played with my fingers, confused, until he came back again.

"Here," he whispered and sat down beside me on the bed, "cut the cake."

I stared at him unsure. Something felt so wrong. His smile didn't reach his glistened, red eyes. What happened last night? Why are his eyes swollen?

"Do it," he spoke again, breaking my chain of thoughts and I hesitantly blew on the candles before picking up the knife.

He sang happy birthday for me while I sliced the knife through the cake and pulled out a small piece to feed him. I expected myself to be happy today then Why do I feel restless?

"Birthday hai, gift bhi Toh milna chahiye na?" His hoarse voice reached my voice in a mere whisper. It had become heavier for sure.

"Kuch zyada hi barbaad Kar diya na Maine tumhe? I ruined your life?" His voice caught my attention again. I frowned at what he was saying.

"Waqas, yeh aap—"

"Let's fix that today. Aaj main tumhein tumhaari aazadi ka taufa deta hoon!" He doesn't mean what I think he means, or does he?

"What are you saying?" I managed to choke out, trying not to let my eyes glisten.

"I have decided to not ruin your life like I have in the past few months! I have decided to divorce you, Roop!" His words paralysed me for a moment, taking away my heart beat. Am I still dreaming?

"What are you saying?" I reached out to hold his arm as he stood up, slipping away from me.

"You can't do this to me," I tried keeping my voice stable when he stepped away, shaking his head. "After what you did last night, I thought about it for hours and trust me, you want this too."

"Want this too matlab?" I frowned at him in disbelief and stood up from the bed, "you don't know what I want! You can't decide what I want!"

"You made it clear you don't want to be with me," he shrugged, "I ruined your life after all."

"I don't even remember a thing from last night," I rubbed my sore temple, begging him, "let's just sit and talk, please Waqas? I am sorry whatever I did last night. Mujhe kuch yaad Nahi hai, I am sorry! Don't do this to me, please."

He shook his head again and I closed my eyes, helplessly.

"Par Mujhe sab yaad," he whispered hoarsely, making me look up again.

"Kya yaad hai? Maine aisa kya Kar diya Ki aap Mujhe itni Badi saza de rahe Hein. Maine aapse—"

His phone rang before I had a chance to finish and he reached the small glass table to pick it up. I frowned, catching a glimpse of the name on the screen and everything came rushing back to me. Of course it had to be for her!

Waqas ended the call and looked back at me, "You will receive the divorce papers with enough money by tonight, hopefully, Then you can start a new life, away from me."

"Why are you doing this to me?" I found myself asking. I stepped towards him and held the collars of his blue shirt, slightly jerking him towards me.

"Is it for her again?" My frown deepened when he chose to stay quiet, "uske liye Mujhe shadi Ki thi Aur Talaq bhi uske liye? Bolo na? Did she ask you to? Answer me dammit!"

"Tumhaara dimag kharab ho Gaya hai Roop!" He yelled and I flinched back at his tone, "bina soche kuch bhi Bol rahi ho, just stop dragging her—"

His phone rang again, interrupting us. The same name flashed on the screen, slowly bringing back more memories of our argument from last night. He almost slapped me because of her!

"Pick it up," I told him when he was about to disconnect, "koi naya order dena hoga madam Ne!"

He raised an eyebrow at me and I looked away, folding my arms. It's Strange how that eyebrow didn't make my stomach flip for the first time.

"You know what? I should pick it up," he spoke behind me, "I'll see you soon with the papers."

Papers? My heart dropped to my stomach at the reminder. He can't leave me; I won't let him do that!

"Waqas stop!" I yelled after him and ran towards our suite's main door. He had already opened it and stepped out.

"Waqas please! You can't do this to me. Aapke bina main Kahan jaungi? Please Waqas!" I begged, running behind him, but he didn't stop.

My head spun, forcing me to stop. I felt nauseous and weak all of a sudden. My body wasn't in my control anymore. I yelled his name multiple times while vulnerably watching him step inside the elevator. He didn't even look back once and within seconds, he was gone.

"Main marr jaungi, Waqas! Please!" I screamed, feeling torn, and tugged on to my hair, begging for him. I wanted him but I knew he wasn't mine anymore.

He never was.
