Happy New Year!! :D :D
Bohot ho Gaye cute moments!! Twist coming up ;)
WAQAS' POV
"Roop?" I called her name once again as I took my glasses off and kept them on my desk. It's quite unusual of her to not respond.
"I'll call you later," I said to Adeel and ended the video call before heading outside to look for Roop. I could hear the mere sound of giggling coming from the Kitchen.
"Api, Rehaan is best," I heard Roop say and frowned at the kitchen's white door. Rehaan?
"Arey but I like the name Zaidan more... I am not sure," I heard a familiar voice sighing; I guess it belonged to Raaniya.
Are they selecting names? phew, I thought.... never mind.
I entered the kitchen to greet Raaniya since we haven't really talked since Roop and my Walima.
"Kya ho raha hai, bhai," I asked casually as I entered the kitchen. Roop turned around and smiled at me, "open your mouth."
I frowned at her, "Whaaah-"
My question was cut short by something being stuffed in my mouth. I struggled to chew it as its sweet taste invaded my taste buds. Roop giggled before running her thumb across the side of my lips and washed her hand.
"Like it?" She asked me, opening her eyes wide, and I nodded, quite impressed. "These are delicious!" I told her honestly as I went to pick another gulaab jaamun but she smacked my hand away.
"Aye! They are for tonight!"
"Let him eat na!" Someone spoke up and I looked behind Roop. She was on a skype call with Raaniya; explains why she didn't respond when I called her.
"Asalamualeikum," I smiled at Raaniya and she smiled back at me. "Walekumasalam!"
"How are you and the little one of course?" I asked her, remembering that she will be expecting soon.
"Alhamdulillah! we are both doing good," She giggled shyly.
"By the way, they are going to have a boy!" Roop told me, her eyes lit up as she spoke.
"Wow! That's a great news!" I smiled at both of them as I managed to steal a gulaab Jamun. Roop gasped at me, slapping my arm, while Raaniya laughed.
"Khushi Ki baat pe mooh toh meetha karna banta hai," I winced at her but she shook her head, not falling for that.
"Look at how your sister treats me! kuch khaane nahi deti... Sab akele kha jaati hai, bhukkad!" I told Raaniya, teasing Roop. She scowled at me, "I am the one always cooking for you and now you are going to complain about this to my sister? Fine, karo jo karna hai!"
She got up to leave and I hurriedly held her arm, "acha sorry na. Ab betho!"
"You guys continue, I have a doctor's appointment, so I'll catch you later," Raaniya bid us goodbye and ended the call.
Roop got up and passed me a mug, "Aapki coffee..." She was going to say further but stopped, looking lost in her thoughts.
"Roop, what happened?" I asked her and she looked up at me, slowly shaking her head as no, "you know you can share everything with me, right?"
She looked down at her hand when I kept mine on top of it, and sighed. "You know Raaniya Api and Asad Bhai have been married for so long and they were trying so hard for a child but nothing was going right. Then my friend introduced me to her sister who is a gynaecologist in Canada, Dr Samina Baloch... Her treatment worked on api."
"And?" I urged her to speak when I found her lost in her thoughts again. "Waqas, I think we should recommend her to Aisha."
"I am not saying that Rishab isn't her son," she added quickly to it, "but, whenever we talk about kids, there is always this hint of sadness in her eyes. For instance, She is really happy for Asmaara and Shehry but, there is still that disappointed somewhere.... I am just really scared to talk to her, she is too sensitive. I don't know how she would react."
I hummed, understanding her concern. "I guess I'll talk to Atif first. Although to him, Aisha is more important than kids but let's see what he says. Besides, Preet will be able to talk to Aisha better than any of us since She was with her during her tough times."
Roop just nodded at me as she took a sip from her mug.
"Don't worry," I said, nodding at her. She blinked at me before slowly smiling.
I don't know if that doctor can really help their case or not; but They should definitely give it a shot.
ATIF's POV
"Aisha!" I screamed as I spotted Rishab tangled in the party streamers. Yet again.
"Paanch minute! Sirf paanch minute maange the Maine, you can't look after him for five minutes? Useless!" She huffed, coming out of the kitchen, "if I ruin the cake, I swear I'll smudge it on your face!"
"Acha acha, baad main lard Lena, pehle isse nikaalo!" I told her, still stuck on the top of the ladder. Why does our ceiling has to be so high?
She laughed, seeing Rishab and came forward to help him. Every time she takes him out of those, he manages to tangle himself in them again.
"Mera Rishu kitni shararat karta hai!" She said in a baby voice as she picked him up. He laughed when she tickled him.
"Mumma balloon!" Rishab stretched his arm out at the floor like it would extend somehow and reach the balloon kept on it.
Suddenly the doorbell rang and he wriggled in Aisha's arms. She lowered him to the ground and he ran to open the door since he already knew who was coming over.
"I am so glad she is here to help," I sighed, "otherwise you and your kitchen."
"Oh hello, I am baking a cake for him!" She said, defensively, hitting my ladder.
"I told you we will order one par Nahi, banao Beth ke," I rolled my eyes, going back to the streamers, and tapped them on the wall.
"You don't know how special this is for me," she whispered, probably to herself but I still heard it, and I rolled my lips between my teeth, feeling stupid.
She went back to the kitchen and I sighed, getting off the ladder.
"Aisha?" I followed her and found her mixing the cake batter. "Aisha?" I called out, softly this time, but she didn't even budge.
"Gusha ho?" I asked her, wrapping my arms around her waist. She shook her head as no and kept her eyes on the bowl.
"You know I love you na?" I asked her again, keeping my chin on her shoulder. She nodded this time and I kissed her neck as she inhaled a sharp breath. Suddenly she left the beater and turned around to hug me. I frowned over her shoulder before wrapping my arms around her tightly, protectively.
"You took your medicines?" I asked her, seeing her extremely sensitive over that one sentence. She shook her head as she slightly pulled away, "I haven't eaten anything. I'll have it later."
"Have it later?" I repeated her word in utter disbelief, "you know there is a set time for each dose right?"
"Atif, I don't feel like taking those! I am fine!" She winced, pulling on to the collar of my shirt.
"Aisha, if not for me, then don't you want to get better for Rishab?" I asked her. I gulped down the lump in my throat as a tear threatened to fall out. We don't talk about it but she knows she needs to be treated.
"Pagal Nahi hoon mai!" She countered back, almost immediately, making me sigh defeatedly.
"I know, jaan..." Keeping my hands on her waist, I pulled her closer, "Bas thori si tabyat kharab hai, Woh theek ho jaye, fir kabhi zikar nahi hoga unn dawaiyon ka, hmm?"
She nodded at me, smiling approvingly, and I softly kissed her forehead. Bas tum theek ho jao Aisha, Mujhe aur kuch nahi chahiye.
ROOP's POV
"Waqas seriously? Aap usse frock gift karenge?" I asked in disbelief as Waqas, once again, stopped in the middle of the girls section.
Waqas and I left early for Aisha's house as we had to get a birthday present for Rishab but here, Waqas is more interested in girls' outfits than boys.
"Aye pagal, this is for Seher!" He rolled his eyes at me before picking up a pink frock and I groaned internally.
"That's for three year olds!" I told him. He looked up at me and shrugged, "she can wear it when she is three."
"Are you trying to irritate me right now?" I asked him, curious and definitely irritated. Not so much To my surprise, He nodded, grinning, "in big bold letters- yes!"
"Waqas!" I winced, holding his arm, "chalein na please!"
He kept the frock back, laughing, and then we roamed around the store, finally finding the boys section. After a short debate, we ended up buying a remote control car and some Xbox games for Rishab.
"I am hungry, let's eat something first!" Waqas said as he held my hand and led us to the foodcourt. I smiled at the mere touch; he might have not even realised.
He ordered large fries for himself while I chose to go with a frappé. While we waited for our orders, I roamed my eyes around, spotting a jewellery store nearby. Some amazing diamond necklaces were on display so I decided to have a closer look. There was one which really caught my attention as I loved it's curvy Y shape. I could use a similar design for my gown's neckline, adding some sequins to it to make it shine.
"Like something?" I was pulled out of my thoughts by Waqas. I turned my head to my right where he was standing and shook my head as I took my frappé from him.
"You are standing in front of a jewellery store and you don't like anything?" He frowned at me as I took a sip from my drink.
"Not really," I shrugged.
He widened is eyes at me, "they are diamonds Roop!" He told me in utter disbelief and I shrugged again, not being able to understand why is it so shocking for him.
"You really didn't like anything or you just don't want to tell me?" He asked me again and I sighed.
"Only one caught my attention, I just liked the style but diamonds aren't my thing," I smiled at him, keeping my hand on the pendant he gave me, "plus I have enough already."
"But Aren't they supposed to be a girl's best friend?" He frowned at me, saying a line from some lame tumblr post, "and you do wear diamonds."
"That one was a gift from my parents on my eighteenth so that's why and Not really," I chuckled, "jisne bhi kaha hai jhooth kaha hai."
"A girl's best friend will always be a teddy bear!" I told him and he just nodded, "see, if you are sad, you can't hug diamonds but you can hug a teddy bear and cry. If you are scared at night, your diamonds aren't going to protect you from all those imaginary monsters!"
"But Teddy bears can't make you look pretty!" He shrugged as we stepped out of the mall.
"Haa! So diamonds can?" I countered back, mockingly, "how shallow, Waqas.... Tch tch."
"Beauty comes from within and not because of the way you dress or accessories you use... All you need is a kind heart and a real smile," I smiled at him and he raised his eyebrows.
"Acha Ji?"
"Haan Ji!" I nodded to his question, "this makeup and jewellery can only make you look beautiful onscreen.... You can't share your feelings with your makeup pallet but you can share them nice people around you... like me!"
"Bas apni tareef kara lo, hai na?" Waqas chuckled at that and I grinned, sheepishly. "Ab koi aur nahi karta na toh khud hi karni padti hai."
"Toh Abhi kar dete Hein, Roop Maine life main tumse bada joker aaj tak nahi dekha!" He commented in a serious tone and I gasped, widening my eyes at him.
"Say cheese!" He clicked my photo before shamelessly bursting into laughter; You know that clutching on to your belly type laugh. While I just stood there, frowning, and unsure if I should call for some help.
"Look!" He showed me his phone, still laughing and I scowled at him. Shifting my eyes to the screen, I realised I had a perfect white moustache right above my upper lip. I have been walking around like this?
"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" I winced, slapping his arm in annoyance.
"Because your nice heart still made you look beautiful!" He commented, still laughing.
I rolled my eyes at him, "very funny!"
I didn't know if I was supposed to be angry because he was mocking me or laugh with him for looking so cute. Finally I gave up, giggling, defeatedly.
WAQAS' POV
I kept snickering involuntarily as her face kept flashing in my mind. She walked around the mall with that moustache the whole time and now she was scowling at me. But I couldn't help it.
"Chalo," I said to her as I killed the engine in front of Atif's house.
"Ha ha ha, very funny, ab bas karenge?" She huffed getting out before I could even unbuckle my seatbelt. She opened the back door and pulled out the presents before closing it, banging it loudly.
Lagta hai Kuch zyada hi ho Gaya, I whispered to myself, running a hand through my hair, and stepped out of the car. Roop was already in front of the main door, waiting for someone to open it, while a car in the parking lot caught my attention. A smile made its way to my lips as I ran to the door, eagerly waiting to see the person.
Soon the door opened in slow motion but there was no one in front of us. Okay? There was faint music sound coming from inside; something similar to nursery rhymes. I frowned into space as Roop glanced at me. I shrugged at her, giving her space to step inside first. I followed after her when —
"Surprise!" Someone screamed behind me, closing the door loudly. I flinched slightly, turning around.
"Saaley! I knew you are here!" I instantly hugged Hussain. Seeing him after so long, felt nice!
"Acha? Jhootha!" He slapped my back as we pulled away.
"Arrey! Seriously.. I saw your car!" I told him and he shook his head, chuckling.
"And how are you?" He asked Roop, over my shoulder as he stepped forward to hug her.
"If you are here then Preet and Seher should be here too! Kahan Hein dono?" I asked him, excited to see Seher, but Hussain sighed.
"Yaar, mom wants to spend Eid in Pakistan this year, so their passports have gone for Visa.... Even I am here for Karan's new project."
"Kya yaar Hussain, aise thori Chalta hai," Roop rolled her eyes at him.
"Acha sorry, galti ho gayi, bhabhi Ji!" he touched his earlobes, bending down to her height.
"Nautanki! You better be!" She slapped his head in response, making him laugh.
"Roop!" Suddenly a tiny figure ran out of the living room with a huge hat on his head and Roop instantly turned around.
"Hold this, quick!" She shoved the car, sweets and games in my hand and went down on her knees to catch Rishab.
"Happy birthday, meri jaan!" She hugged him, kissing him on his cheek. He jumped in her arms as he looked up at me, asking her to let go. The moment Roop left Rishab, he came up to me, batting his big eyelashes, and then looked back at her.
"Mera hai?" He asked her, pointing at the wrapped boxes in my hands. Roop nodded at him and before I knew it, he giggled, snatching them from me and ran back inside.
"Lo, value hi Nahi hai Meri," I rolled my eyes at his retreating figure while Roop and Hussain laughed at me.
Roop headed inside and I followed her until Hussain stopped me. I frowned at him while he ran a hand through his hair, looking quite tensed for some reason.
"There are guests inside," he told me and I nodded. "Obviously, birthday party hai."
"Waqas, koi Aur bhi hai..." He held my hand while whispering. His expressions made me frown deeper.
"Aisa kaun—" before I could finish, someone's voice stopped me. I blinked, gulping down my words as I knew who it was. I hope I am just dreaming, a voice said inside my head right before hearing it again.
"Vikkuh!"
"No..." I released a puff of air. Hussain sighed in front of me, shaking his head. His hand rested on my arm and I looked down at it but it wasn't really what I needed.
"Vikku?" Manik tugged on to my jeans and before I had a chance to think, I turned around and picked him up in my arms. He wrapped his arms around my neck, pulling me closer, as a tear escaped from my eyes. His soothing giggles calmed my racing heart down as I hid my face in his shoulder.
"Vikku?" He called me again and pulled away slightly. His smile turned into a frown as he raised his tiny hands to my cheeks, wiping away the tears. I held his hand in one of mine and kissed his palm. He laughed, pulling his hand back, maybe because my slightly grown out moustache tickled him.
I laughed at his reaction but it didn't take long for realisation to hit me.
If he is here then she ......
