Jace and I wandered into the woods. Night had come and the world was full of shadows with the darkness. The only light was from the soft glowing moon I stopped to look at it. It shone, giving off a milky light then I turned to see Jace staring at me. "What?" I asked quizzically. A smile tugged at his lips. "You just looked so perfect standing there." He said walking over to me. And before I could protest his lips were on mine. He kissed me and for a moment I was shocked but then I kissed back and sparks flew. We stood there, him holding my waist and I had my hands around his neck. I played with bits of his hair as we broke apart. He smiled down at me and leaned down again until we heard yells. Quickly we parted standing in an attack stance. Flames flickered in his palm and my sword rested in my hand waiting for the right moment. Suddenly Jace pulled me back to his chest and hid behind a tree. Soon lights came our way and people were running. Yellows by the looks of their outfits. Their base must be close. We stood there for a moment waiting for the right time and eventually the people passed. "Let's go." I said running straight ahead towards a faint glowing light.
We stood behind a bush as we spied their camp. A small fire was brewing and three people stood there guarding a luminous flag. Idiots you never draw attention to yourself like this. "A fire wow even I wouldn't do that" I muttered and Jace nodded. "Ok here's the plan I'm going to distract them whilst you use your wings to fly back to base." He said and before I could protest he jumped out. "Hey over here." He yelled throwing two balls of fire towards them. I heard yells and swords clashing as I concentrated. Wings, wings, wings. I thought praying that it would work. A few seconds later I felt a familiar flap and saw my beautiful wings shining. Now I was ready. Quickly I sprinted past them and lunged for the flag. I clasped it and flew straight into the air hearing yells and furious screams. I looked down to see Jace staring at me before turning away and running. Quickly I followed, watching him. Soon we arrived at camp. Looking around I saw a shocking sight that made my heart ache. Lucinda and Katelyn were lying still on the floor. Fear immediately rushed through me as I ran to them. Wait where was cadenza? Oh no. I quickly shook them. Vigorously I hit them both."wake up."I yelled at them and slowly their eyes opened. Jace was on the ground next to me and we both helped them wake up. Katelyn immediately began to scream and I pulled her into a hug trying to make her quieten down. "H- he took her." Katelyn stammered.
"Calm down Katelyn, who took her?" Jace said referring to cadenza.
"It was him the demon king." She said.
Immediately I sprinted off not caring about Jace's yells. I had to find him, he wouldn't hurt her I would make sure of it. My feet pounded against the dirt below me as I let the moonlight guide me. The world was pitch black and I jumped over tree roots and branches. Then I took flight soaring to the treetops until I spotted a fiery figure below me.
I landed a few metres away. He turned around."ahh if it isn't the little devil herself now come to watch her die?" He asked and I growled. My sword was out and my body changed. "Ooh aggressive I love it. She will be the first to die out of all your friends." He said holding cadenza high into the air. In his other hand was a dagger and he was thrusting it towards her. Standing there motionless she screamed as the dagger was plunged into her body. Then the demon king evaporated and she fell. I caught her as blood spilled from the wound in her stomach.
She began to go limp and her eyes slowly began to close. "No, no, no cadenza please stay with me we can get help." I pleaded and shook her gently.
She gave me a small smile."I'm not going to make it Cassie but thankp you for being my friend and I don't regret it. Tell Lucinda she's been the best friend in the world.." And with that she closed her eyes a small smile on her face as the life drifted away from her body. "No.." I screamed. My body racked with sobs as I cried waterfalls. I hugged her body close to me. Slowly people came toward the clearing and I saw the teacher. She immediately ran forward. "Ok everyone back to your dorms now." Everyone left, except for my friends. Lucinda stood there white as snow before running forward and collapsing next to me. I let her hold cadenza and we sobbed together as I screamed. Screaming at world for making my life a living hell. Screaming at the demon king for doing this to innocent people. "Girls we need to take cadenza come on."the teacher said softly trying to make me release her. Lucinda had passed out and now Jamie was picking her up.
"No." I screamed. "Get away from her." I yelled as people came towards me. Medics tried to pry her from me. I bit and slashed at them. I wouldn't let them take her. I was about to get my sword out when suddenly two strong arms surrounded me lifting me up. I thrashed against the hold. But I was tired and weak. Jace carried me away into the woods. He eventually stopped as we neared the dorm. He put me down and I collapsed into his arms weeping. "It's, it's my fault." I stammered into his hard chest. I only came up to under his chin so I leant against me and he stroked my back soothingly. "It is definitely  not your fault. It's the demon kings." He said angrily. His fists were clenched and i stroked his arm soothing him. I leant against him and snuggled into his chest. He carried me into my room and I saw Lucinda in the couch with Jamie both of them snuggled up together.
Jace laid me down in my bed and I kicked off my shoes, not bothering to change. He began to leave. "No Jace please stay." I said. He nodded and took off his shoes sliding into my bed. We snuggled close under the covers. "Go to sleep.. He said and pulled me close to him. Slowly I started to nod off and I swear I heard the words. "I love you Cassie." But I was probably delusional.
