-2- When Love Lasts -2-

I

Doctor: Patient ke husband kahaan hai ?

The doctor asked as she came out

Hamza turned towards the doctor and asked impatiently

Hamza: Jii doctor...kya hua, Hala theek hai na...w..w..wo behosh kyu gyi

Doctor: Dekhiye Mr. Hamza...last checkup kii reports mei to sab theek tha lekin ab jo state hai hum nahi jaante aage kya hoga...wo severe depression mei hai which has affected her health. Its a very critical stage. Generally doctors apne patient ko sab kuch nahi btate...prr mai aapse kuch nahi chhupaungi. Abhi aap koi bhi umeed matt rakhiye. Although we are trying our best but hum bhi sab kuch nahi karr sakte na

The doctor told Hamza truthfully. It was the end for Hamza, he blamed himself for putting his Hala and his unborn child in this state of uncertainness. He couldn't prove himself to her mark. Surely they both are not "baraabar" when he and Hala had this convo of being 'kabil' and 'baraabar' he had silently promised to raise to Hala's level of goodness to rightfully deserve and now look where he got himself.

Hamza: Kya mai Hala se mil sakta hu please

Doctor: Jii

Hamza entered Hala's room to find her aimlessly looking at the wall infront, where a baby's picture hung.

He pasted a fake normalness on his face for Hala and spoke up

Hamza: Humari beti iss se bhi zyada khoobsoorat hogi

He mentioned his daughter intentionally because it was the only topic they both used to fight on, Hamza always insisted upon the baby to be a girl while Hala wanted a baby boy.

Flashback

It was a usual Sunday morning, Hala and Hamza were sitting casually on their bed and discussing about their baby

Hamza: -Maanlo jab badi hogi aur padhne ke liye meri tarah Australia jayegi fir...??

Hala: Hogi kyu, hoga kyu nahi

Hamza: Hogi to tumhari tarah hogi na

Flashback Ends

He was amused that Hala didn't respond on this but back of the mind he knew, he would be surprised if Hala would reply, as he didn't deserve it.

Hamza: Hala, sab theek ho jaayega

Hamza said holding her hand for assurance to herself as well as for him.

Hala: Sab khatam ho gya Hamza

Hamza: Kuch bhi nahi hua Hala,  dekhna humara baby bilkul theek hai

Hala: Tum jhoote dilaase kyu de rahe ho

She yelled breaking into tears. He was himself in a bad condition but he couldn't break down, he needed to be strong for Hala.

Hamza: Dilaasa nahi bai yeh Hala, mera yakeen hai

The doctor entered with her team and said

Doctor: Mr. and Mrs. Hamza, hum kuch test run karenge and if they come out to be fine then kuch hope hai warna

Hamza: Mayoosi kii baatein mat kariye doctor, sab theek hoga

Nodding at his statement the doctor gestured her team to collect blood samples from Hala and started running various tests but all this while Hamza didn't leave her hand for a second. After a bit the reports came in and the doctor was satisfied, giving an assuring smile to them she said

Doctor: Lagta hai aapka baby bohot ziddi hone wala hai...you can calm down soon to be parents, your baby is well, thodi complications hai lekin wo paar kii jaa sakti hai...shuru mei thode darne waali baat lagg rahi thi but ab after the acceptance of medicines by her body,  aisa kuch nahi hai...haan lekin hala needs to be on total bedrest

Halza took a sigh in relief and thanked god for this. Hamza thanked the doctor as she went out to give them privacy. He looked at Hala with a small smile yet with tears brimming.

Hamza: Dekha Hala

To his delight Hala replied with a faint smile.

Hamza: Bohot kuch kehna hai Hala, Maafi bhi maangni hai apne gunaah ke liye lekin uske pehle tumhari health hai...abhi Bina kisi baare mei soche sirf rest karo please...mujhe kaam niptaane hai mai wo karke aata hu.

She nodded to his request making him breathe in relief...after all he did, hala was still kind to him to reply. Caressing her head he covered her properly with the quilt and went out to look after 'important' work.

III

The past week was a difficult one for them. It was a ride of emotions and relations. Hamza had apologized n number of times for his mistake and Hala too was convinced that he truly is feeling guilty. Somewhere she also knew that Hamza was being misguided by the figure he almost worshiped. They had got back together and the time was a bliss after storm. Hala was still in the hospital under observation and she always had Hamza by her side. He was there for two days but afterwards he had to resume his office, so before going he used to drop Dadi there with Hala for her emotional support while his friends' wives stayed on rotation and after office he used to be there. Hamza never talked about the situation back home and made sure no one else did too. Hala also didn't ask as she wanted to be at peace for sometime because she knew they had go there back. No one apart from her Dadi and Hamza's friends had visited her in the hospital which was surprising but peaceful.

Hamza: Aaram se, aaram se

Hamza said holding Hala softly as he made her sit on the wheelchair. She was finally discharged from the hospital on the condition of bedrest. He wheeled her to the exit of the hospital where a taxi was waiting for them. Once he ensured Hala had settled comfortably he sat in from the otherside holding her firmly.

As they proceeded further Hala was confused about the route they were following. It didn't lead to their house.

Hala: Hamza, yeh ghar ka to rasta nahi hai...hum kahaan jaa rahe hai ??
