Bonjour, motherfuckers
"BIRD to Zephyr, painting target. Do you copy?"
Fitz answered Bobbi, "Copy that, Bird. Target's lit. We're tracking now." Coulson walked up to them as Mack stood by Daisy as she typed away at the computer. "Okay, it looks like Malick's convoy's heading for this decommissioned power plant about 30 kilometers away."
Mack turned his head to look at them. "Dead in the middle of Nowhereville, Siberia."
"Yeah." Daisy turned around, her arm leaning on the desk, feeling all giddy. "If Malick and his Russian patsy want to build some Inhuman sanctuary, why not build it someplace nice and sunny?"
"Same reason they don't put a prison camp in Malibu..." Coulson looked up from the computer to her. "Not in my backyard."
She stepped forward. "That's what the sanctuary really is gonna be, isn't it?" She smirked. "A prison camp."
Coulson gave Daisy a look. "We'll see what Bobbi and Hunter find when they get there."
Fitz spoke to Bobbi again, "Zephyr to Bird ... we have Malick's convoy, can guide you to them, but you're gonna need some transport. Will that be a problem?"
"No, I think we're good."
MAY quickly landed the Zephyr, and opened up the latch, allowing Bobbi and Hunter to walk up the ramp.
"Where'd you get the hardware?"
Bobbi sighed. "We ran into some company. Left them tied up in the forest."
Thy all looked to Hunter who had a bag of what looked like Mushrooms. "Um, are those mushrooms?"
Hunter hummed. "Mm-hmm. For soup." Daisy nodded, biting her lip as she looked at him in amusement.
Bobbi commented, "It's not bad, actually." Before getting back onto the subject at hand, "Picked up some chatter on the radio. Malick and the man he brought with him, Petrov, are gonna have some kind of powwow with a few Russian Cabinet Ministers."
"Cabinet Ministers? Here?"
Hunter nodded. "We think they're here for the same reason as Malick... to get their eyes on an Inhuman."
Daisy shifted in her spot. "Do you think they already have somebody?"
Bobbi gave her a look of concern. "We saw a man being carted off inside the compound, restrained by advanced biotech."
"Well." Mack glanced at Daisy. "I thought the sanctuary hasn't even started construction yet."
May stepped forward. "We need to get inside, get surveillance up and running."
"How's everyone's Russian?"
May frowned and tilted her head. "My pronunciation's not fluent."
"And mine's nonexistent." Daisy pointed at Mack and snapped her fingers as if to say, 'same'.
Bobbi chuckled humorlessly. "Guys, seriously, we're spies. I thought we all learned languages."
"Well," Daisy turned around from where she was putting on her belt that held her guns, "For the record, Lincoln's at The Cocoon right now, studying all sorts of stuff. Russian is not one of them."
"Sorry." Mack chuckled. "Think this one's all on you, Rosetta Stone. But we'll be in the wings, armed and ready."
"Hey, at least you look the part, dear," Hunter told the girl he was in love with which made Daisy nod in agreement.
"He's not wrong," May stated, "Bobbi, you're with Daisy and Mack. Find the security hub and locate Malick."
"So..." Hunter trailed off. "That means I stay here alone?"
May gave him a glare. "You're with me." She cocked her gun. "Remember our mission protocol. Low profile, in and out, no one gets caught."
BOBBI punched a guard in the face, knocking him out. Both her and Mack started searching him.
"You're killing me, Mack," Bobbi groaned, rolling her eyes.
"Look, I'm not siding with Hunter. I'm just saying, I don't remember you two taking a little vacation," Mack fired at her, amused.
"What?" Daisy asked in disbelief, "Not even a honeymoon?"
"I was in the middle of a mission." Daisy turned to see her slip on the guard's jacket. "CI had to get back to Johannesburg. Can you cover our tracks?"
Daisy nodded. "Yeah, sure, no problem." She turned to look at the computer, to only find a very old one. "Oh. Hello, there." She curled her lips, not amused.
"What's wrong, Tremors?" Mack questioned, stepping to her side.
She sat down on the chair. "Well, aside from the fact that this thing is ancient, I do not read Cyrillic."
"Yet," Bobbi told her, smiling slightly.
"Forever the optimist," Daisy commented, shaking her head, sighing.
"Come on, Daisy." Bobbi gave her a disbelieving look. "You can hack the Pentagon and shake the Earth. You're gonna let a few backwards letters trip you up?"
"Found Malick and Petrov," Mack told them and Bobbi went to his side.
"Well, I'll get eyes and ears on them," Bobbi told him, putting her hair up in a tight bun.
"Okay, we'll run back end from here, pipe it up to the Zephyr."
"Be careful," Daisy told her, furrowing her eyebrows as she looked down at the keyboard, trying to figure it out. "Wait! Hold on." She held up her finger and Bobbi came to her side. "The letter that looks like New Hampshire with legs... that's "D," right?"
"Da." She then walked away which made Daisy frown.
"Great," she said sarcastically, closing her eyes tightly as she groaned.
"I lost Petrov and Malick!" Daisy looked at the screen to see Bobbi trying to open a door but to no avail. "Daisy, little help?"
She groaned in annoyance as she was slowly figuring out the keyboard. "Give me a sec."
Mack sighed and spoke up, I've got a visual on the General. He's still locked up. I'm just not sure where."
"Is Malick with him?"
"No, just a couple of FSO agents and two guards. And they're cutting him loose. "
Daisy looked up abruptly. "We can't let him leave with Malick."
"DAISY, where's the General now? You still have eyes on him?" May asked through the ear piece.
"Hold on," the girl in question told her, "I'm still trying to get Bobbi through a door." She moved her fingers across the keyboard as fast as she possibly could. "Converting to Unicode, and..." The reader beeped, and Bobbi quickly pushed the door open.
"Spasibo, Daisy!" Bobbi thanked her.
"De nada." Daisy grinned, happy that she actually did something right.
"Pretty sure that's not Russian."
"Whatever," she told Bobbi, still grinning.
Mack spoke through the ear piece, "Bobbi, hang a right at the next hallway. That should take you to the General. But you better get there quick, 'cause he's free. Whoa. What the ... Did you see that?"
Daisy turned to look at the computer Mack was staring at. "See what?" she asked, confused.
"The hell if I know." He scrunched his face up. "Is this feed recording?"
"Yeah." She nodded. "Let me roll it back."
MACK and Daisy walked into a room where Malick the Prime Minister was, and quickly hid behind a big crate that had a tarp on it. "What's the plan?" she asked Coulson through the ear piece.
Coulson started to give off orders, "May and Hunter, you secure the Prime Minister. Daisy, Bobbi, Mack, contain the General. Try to get him outside. We'll send the containment module down to the South exit."
Fitz spoke up, as well, "Yeah, be careful. He's an assassin, and we don't know what his powers are yet."
"Perhaps we do," Jemma said and they listened on the the Russian' s arguing with the Prime Minister.
"We'll need a distraction," Mack whispered by Daisy's side, talking through the ear piece.
"I have an idea, but it involves May hitting people." Daisy turned her head to look at May who smiled, glee overpowering any other look in her brown eyes.
They continued to listen in on the Prime Minister's conversation.
"If you could take a moment and look..."
"My attaché should be here. Where is Yuri?"
There was a pause, "He could not see the error of his ways."
"So... you are all traitors, then?"
There was a loud clanking noise where the can of smoke hit the ground, the smile exploding out of the can, filling the air.
They all ran out from our hiding places and attacked the Russians. Daisy sucker-punched a Russian in the jaw, sending him to the ground.
May and Daisy then bumped into each other, their backs touching, and fought together. She kicked a Russian as Daisy grabbed ones' arm, twisted it, and then kicked him in the back of his leg.
Once all the Russians were taken out, Daisyran down the stairs, trying to catch up with the others who had the Inhuman.
"Somebody report," Coulson demanded through the ear piece. "Do we have the Inhuman a safe distance from the Prime Minister?"
"Yeah, Bobbi's got him," Daisy informed him just as she caught up with Bobbi, Mack, and the Inhuman. Bobbi had said something to him in Russian, and he responded back. Daisy stepped forward, "I don't speak Russian, but I know a threat when I hear one."
He smirked, his eyes glancing over Daisy's small frame, before he stood straighter, and a shadow like thing came out of the wall, and attacked Mack.
Mack tried to punch it, but his hand went straight through it as if it was a ghost.
Bobbi yelled out, throwing her batons at it, but just like Mack's hand, they went straight through it before bouncing back to her hands.
Daisy held out her hands, a sound wave emitting from her palms, and hitting it in the chest. It's chest blew forward, but then it retracted to itself, before grabbing Mack, and threw him against the wall. It then disappeared through the wall.
Daisy ran towards Mack, checking to see if he was okay, "He's out cold!" She informed Bobbi as she reached her side. Daisy stood up, her breathing irregular, "Where the hell did it go?"
Bobbi took off her hat with a huff, looking up. "Where'd the General go?"
"Zephyr to ground team ... what's happening down there?"
"Sir, we lost the General," Bobbi informed Coulson.
"He controls his shadow!" Dais shouted even though she didn't need to, she was just surprised. "My powers didn't faze it."
Jemma spoke up, "It's not just a shadow. Fitz and I believe the General has the ability to manifest a form of sentient dark force, able to shift its density at will." Fitz then picked off where she left, "Judging by the way he's elsewhere at the moment, it operates independently of him."
"Can you just cut to the part where you tell us how we beat it?" Daisy asked, but more like demanded; Bobbi and her were back to back.
"Technically, you can't."
"Not the answer we were looking for," said Daisy, scowling.
"And the Prime Minister?"
Hunter's voice then came through the ear piece. "Safe for now."
"But if it can go solid, then we should be able to fight it," Bobbi stated, her back pressed against Daisy's.
"Fight it, yes, but you can't destroy it. The General can always manifest another—"
"General," Bobbi finished. "We have to take out the General." There was a pulsing noise that was coming from Daisy's right, so both girls looked down the hallway to see the shadow. "Oh, damn." She felt Bobbi tense up. "You ready, sestra?"
Daisy nodded. "Da."
The shape ran towards Daisy, and she ducked, it jumped over her, and disappeared through the floor. She was then knocked to the ground, her back hitting the ground roughly. She turned her head to see Bobbi get punched by it. Se jumped up to her feet just as it threw a punch at her, she dodged it, and then it disappeared.
It came out of the ground and punched Bobbi, and she tried to hit it with her batons, but to no avail. It came up behind her, and started chocking her from behind. She flipped it over her shoulder, and it disappeared again.
Mack groaned as he came to, "How'd you do that?"
"Did you see that?" Daisy asked in disbelief, "How the hell are we supposed to—" She was grabbed by the waist, and lifted up into the air. Her back hit the ceiling roughly, and then she fell, landing on her ankle weirdly, which made her fall to the ground on her side, hitting her head.
"Daisy!" Was the last thing she heard before blackness enveloped her.
DAISY stood taller as Coulson walked towards them; she was biting down on her thumb nail, worried about Bobbi and Hunter.
"What happened to the extraction plan?" Mack asked which made worry spread through Daisy even more at Coulson's face.
"You never gave us the signal," Fitz stated, sighing.
"Where are Hunter and Bobbi?" Daisy asked, tears springing to her eyes due to fear.
Coulson sighed. "They're not coming back. They've been disavowed."
"What're you talking about?"
"There were no good options. I had to make a deal. We were lucky President Ellis even got Interpol to step in. They walk free, but they cannot be agents."
"So that's it?" Jemma stepped forward, "We're just leaving them?"
Coulson nodded. "It was all we could do to keep them from being executed. Relations between the President and Prime Minister are already badly strained because of the growing alien threat."
May realized where Coulson was going with that, "And if they found out S.H.I.E.L.D. was up and running, training Inhumans as agents..."
Coulson nodded at her, "It would be bad. Like Cold War bad. Bobbi and Hunter never cracked under questioning, even to save each other. They did that for S.H.I.E.L.D. They did that for us, and they paid the price."
"No, they," Mack choked on his words, "They just can't take the fall."
"Mack, it was their choice. After everything they've done, they deserve that choice. Believe me, guys... I'm gonna miss them, too."
DAISY looked at Bobbi and Hunter from where she sat, a glass of water in her hand. They looked over at her and she smiled sadly, sending both of them a wink. A shaky breath passed through her lips, and her hand started to shake due to the sadness that took control of me.
They lifted their glasses, and so did the rest of the team who sat in various places around the bar. They all drank from their glasses; this was their goodbye.
