wanted by many, taken by none. Looking at some, waiting for one
"NO, no, no! Come back here you—" The long, dark haired girl pressed down onto her controller, shooting at the robots that tried to come at her character. Her tongue stuck out a little as she bit down on it, trying to concentrate on the game, not noticing her slightly younger brother opening the door to her room.
"Skye!"
She screamed and threw the controller, hitting Scott right on the head. "That's what you get for sneaking up on a lady shooting sexy danger robots who want to rip my insides out!" She exclaimed, calming her heart rate. "Now what do you want, little bro?"
"Someones outside."
The brown eyed girl looked down at what he had in his hands and chuckled. "And you think a bat is gonna scare them off when you're not even holding it right?" She questioned, her eyes squinted at the boy who could be her twin if he was actually a real sibling. I mean, after all, I she was adopted.
"Wha — you know what, who cares how I'm holding a bat," he started but she shushed him, holding up a finger.
"Well, whoever is outside will," she sassed, placing her hands on her hips.
"Skye!" He whisper shouted. "It doesn't matter because there is a predator outsi—"
She rolled her brown eyes in a sassy manor before grabbing the bat from him, sending him a wink as she started to leave her room. But before she fully stepped out into the hallway, she turned to him, smirking.
"Let sissy Skye help Scotty out since he can't do anything on his own without pulling something." She continued walking, hearing him sigh and let out a few grumbled words.
She slowly walked down the stairs, one foot in front of the other, her socked feet touching the cold wood floor. She pushed open the front door and padded across the porch, Scott behind her as they approached where the noise was coming from.
And as something fell from the roof, she went to swing the bat but stopped midway as I saw the one and only Stiles Stilinski upside, screaming like a seven year old girl who wants a lollipop but can't get one. She looked beside her as she heard another voice scream and it was her brother. She sighed and lowered the bat. "Stiles, what the hell do you think you're doing here!?"
"You both weren't answering your phones!" He yelled out, flailing his arms around like a maniac. "Why do you have a bat?"
"First of all, my phone is dead. Second of all, Scott thought that you were a predator and thought it was a good idea to let his dear sister be in the lead with a weapon that'll probably only scare off an old lady," Skye sassed, lowering the bat so it touched the concrete of the porch.
"A pre — I — wha — look, I know it's late—"
"I know." Skye laid back down, but not as gently as se wanted to as it made a clanking noise, making her flinch. "Oops."
"But," he continued as if she didn't say anything. Rude. "You gotta hear this. I saw my dad leave twenty minutes ago." He took a deep breath, "Dispatch called. They're bringing in every officer from the Beacon Department, and even state police."
"For what?"
"Two joggers found a body in the woods."
"A dead body?" Scott McIdiot questioned dumbly.
"No,, a body of water. Yes, dumbass, a dead body!" Stiles exclaimed, giving Scott a 'how dumb are you' look.
Skye laughed loudly at his facial expression as she leaned on the bat, thinking it was safe but when it slipped out from underneath her, she would've fell if it wasn't for the pillar that stood by her. She gripped it and sent the boys a lopsided smile.
"You mean like murdered?" The boys continued the conversation as if she wasn't there.
"No, Scott, he means that a pretty pink unicorn just conjured up a dummy to make it look like a dead body but really, it's just all rainbows and kittens." She rolled her brown eyes at Scott. "I have no clue on how you're related to Melissa. She's so smart and so beautiful but you..." She gestured to him which resulted in Stiles laughing and Scott to scowl at her.
"Nobody knows yet," Stiles told Scott. "Just that it was a girl, probably in her twenties," He told them, excitement clear on his face and a sparkle shining in his eyes.
"Wait a sec, Sti," Skye spoke, using the nickname that she had given him when she had first met him. "If they found the body, then what are they looking for?" She questioned which resulted in a huge grin to appear on his face.
"That's the best part. They only found half." He paused. "We're going."
"Hell yeah." Skye smirked. "Let me get shoes on first." She ran into the house and up the stairs. He bursted into her room, ran to her closet, grabbed a pair of black converse, quickly put them on, and grabbed stiles's hoodie that he had given her a while back ago.
She then ran back downstairs and out the door, closing it behind her, and ran towards Stiles' jeep like a mad woman, a wicked grin on her face.
"You ready?" Stiles asked her as she climbed over them to get into the back seat.
"Oh, I'm so ready." She grinned as she stared at him through the mirror, a smile on both of their faces.
"WE'RE seriously doing this?" Scott questioned as Skye jumped out of Roscoe aka Stiles's jeep and onto Stiles' back, a giggle escaping her lips as he stumbled a little. She jumped off of his back and landed on the leaf covered ground, the leaves crunching under her weight.
"You're the one always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town," she fired at her brother. "This might be our last adventure before school starts again," she told the two idiots, smiling.
"I was trying to get a good night's sleep before practice tomorrow," Scott told them defensively.
"Right 'cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort," Stiles shot at him, making Skye snort.
"No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making first line."
A hysterical laugh left Skye's lips, making both boys turned to face her. "I can't — oh, god." She bent over, holding her stomach. "You really think that you can make first line when you can't even get the ball around me. A girl who has never played a sport in her life. Also, with your slow — grandpish movements, I'm pretty sure a little kid could beat you in lacrosse." She took in a deep breath, trying to contain the laughter that wanted to escape.
"Whatever," Scott mumbled angrily at her. "Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?"
"Huh! I didn't even think about that," Stiles told him.
"Of course," Skye grumbled under her breath.
"And, uh, what if whoever killed the body is still out here?"
The older McCall got goosebumps, making her look around into the dark woods surrounding them. She got an awful feeling that something wasn't right.
"Also something I didn't think about," Stiles admitted, making his way towards Skye, his eyes full of concern and something she couldn't decipher.
"It's really comforting to know you planned this out with your usual attention to detail," Skye fired at the Stilinski boy who grinned and winked at her.
"I know."
"Maybe the sever asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight, huh?" She looked back at her brother but couldn't help him as she was pulled to the ground by Stiles, his arm around her back.
"Wait!" Up ahead was flashlights and the sounds of dogs. "Come on." Stiles stood up and ran.
Skye quickly got up and started running too. But as she heard barks coming from dogs and the small scream of Stiles, she knew he was caught. She quickly hid behind a tree, her back pressed against the bark, her chest rising up and down quickly. Ashes didn't hear anything else as all she heard was a ringing in her ears and the thumping of her heart.
When she finally calmed her erratic heartbeat, all she could hear was crickets chirping and the sound of leaves crumbling under her shoes.
"Scott!" She shouted into the echoey night, her breath coming out in a fog form as it was pretty cold outside. "Scotty! Please answer me! Please!" She yelled out in desperation.
She was alone — again.
Skye turned her head, right to left, trying to find any trace of her brother, but he was nowhere to be found. Her heart started to pick up again as she started running, looking, searching, for her little brother.
She wasn't exactly watching where she was going as she tripped over something and went tumbling down a steep hill. She hit her head on something, the sound of leaves crunching, winds flapping and crickets chirping was heard all around her.
She groaned, opening her eyes, seeing blurry figures. She reached out her right hand, gripping what she thought was a tree and pulled herself up.
She bit her lip, putting all of her weight on the poor tree, stepping on something, a crunching noise being heard.
The sound of stone hitting stone was heard and she suddenly couldn't move. Her eyes widened as she look down at her legs which was turning into stone. A single tear escaped her eye as everything turned black.
Everything went quiet as Skye McCall was turned into stone, crickets chirping was the only thing heard other than the wind whistling. Nothing noticed the human statue, except for only one important person who disappeared as he noticed what was happening, a smile on his face.
IN the early morning, the sound of a deep breath was heard, a rumble of the ground made everything shake. It was an earthquake. But, really, it wasn't. It was Skye McCall who was waking up from her stone slumber.
All of a sudden, a cracking noise came from the human statue figure and then it bursted open, the trees being pushed back by an unknown invisible force; the ground shook violently, almost as if the Earth was moving off of it's axis.
Skye McCall stood in the middle of the whole ruckus. The pieces of the stone went flying away from her, her hair flying out.
Then all of a sudden, it stopped and she fell to the ground. Her breathes coming in a ragged manor as she breathed deeply, her hands flying to her chest. She looked up, the sun just now rising. She stood up quickly and ran through the woods, trying to get home as quickly as she could, not knowing what had just occurred.
