5. Triad: And Then There is Three
Porsche and Vegas go inside the hospital in a hurry. After they got a call from the hospital that Chay was in the hospital and needed the signature of his guardian so the hospital could proceed with the treatment, they abandoned all their work and almost got a speeding ticket for how fast Vegas drove there. Porsche had given verbal consent but still needed the written one.
"I'm the guardian of a patient named Pichaya Kittisawasd," Porsche said to the nurse at the information station. She checks the computer and informs that at the moment Chay is undergoing an MRI. She points them where to go.
What Vegas sees at the front of the MRI room nearly stops him in his tracks. What is that asshole doing here?
He is eyeing Kim who stands in ignorance, like he doesn't even spare a glance to Vegas. His eyes are fixed on the door.
The bad blood between the main and minor family runs deep, but he doesn't think Kim wants anything to do with it in the past. Is he wrong?
When Porchay is wheeled out of the room, he immediately calls his brother who looks between constipated and wanting to die with worry. "Hia, I'm fine. Don't worry!" he says with a smile.
Porsche chuckles. "How come I'm not worried, you brat!" Porsche replies while pinching Chay's cheek lightly.
Porchay glances at Kim and says to his brother, "Hia, this is Khun Kim. He's the one who helps me out. If it weren't for him, maybe ..." Chay stops. His eyes are brimming with tears.
Porsche of course knows who Kim is, being amongst the Theerapanyakul for almost half of his life. He looks at his brother who looking back at him innocently. Chay doesn't say Kim's last name, so he probably doesn't know the guy. It's a relief for Porsche. As Vegas is here, he intends to keep Chay in the dark about Kim.
He nods and shakes Kim's hand with gratitude. Kim gives him an awkward smile while letting his hand be shaken. Kim also knows who Porsche is, more than Porsche and Vegas know perhaps. When he saw Porchay at the bar, he thought that those photos that he had on the brothers, don't do Porchay justice.
Porsche pulls him aside, a little further than Chay. Vegas follows after brushing Chay's hair lovingly. Only then did Kim acknowledge Vegas with his side eye. "Thank you for helping my brother. Can you tell me what happened?"
Kim hesitates. "Shouldn't you ask him yourself?"
Porsche shakes his head. "Chay has a bad habit of hiding things because he doesn't want me to worry. He'll brush the important stuff aside."
Kim tells the story in detail to Porsche who looks like he wants to punch the guy to a pulp himself. "Do you happen to know the guy?"
Kim pulls his phone out and shows a picture. "Sorry, if it's not too clear," he says. The photo is in HD, so he must mean the state of the guy. He was bloodied and definitely bruised.
But both Porsche and Vegas who see it definitely know the guy. The meaningful glance they shared is tell-telling.
"Let me guess," Kim says, "Ex-boyfriend?"
Porsche grimly nods.
"I held back calling the police on purpose. I figured you want to deal with this yourself," Kim says, with a double meaning. "If you want me to help ..."
"No need," Vegas cuts it. "We got this ourselves."
Kim hikes his brows but says nothing to Vegas. He turns back to Porsche and smiles. "Ok, then. I'll get going." They shake hands once again and Kim goes to Porchay. "Gotta go, Kid. See you around!"
Porchay takes Kim's hand, it startles Kim a bit but he doesn't take his hand back. He lets Chay grab it with both hands, the warmth is spreading to his whole body. "Thank you once again. If you weren't there, I don't know what would happen to me."
"Mh," Kim hums his acknowledgment with a smile. Chay lets go of his hand and Kim feels something unpleasant in his chest. "Oh, your handphone," he grabs the phone from his jeans and gives it to Chay. His eyes linger on Chay's face. "Bye now, once again. See you around."
He is just about to turn to the elevator when someone calls for him. But he doesn't turn his back, knowing who it is.
"Kim," Vegas says, "Thank you for saving my nong. I really appreciate it. If there's anything I can do for you, let me know."
My nong. Kim hikes his brow again. Vegas sure underlines that without shame. Kim only smiles thinly and doesn't even acknowledge what Vegas said. It irritates him for some unknown reason.
He goes inside the elevator. When he turns around he locks eyes with Vegas until the door is tearing them apart from each other.

It's been three months.
Porsche was letting Vegas deal with Nat because the guy was adamant about it. Vegas didn't want to take no for an answer and to be honest, between work and Porchay, Porsche's hands are full. Ever since their mother decided to go to her home village after their father's passing, Porsche has been the sole caretaker of Chay. His concousion needed extra care. Vegas hired two professional nurses for Chay, but Porsche felt he still needed to care for his little brother himself.
Vegas decides he will go through the course of law with Nat while stripping the wealth of Thittipong's fortune little by little. He needed Chay to be oblivious to this. By law seemed to be more reasonable than just killing Nat and ditching his body in the middle of the sea. The kill could lead up to Chay as he was his ex-boyfriend.
He bought the share of Thittipong's main company and became the main shareholder. The Thittipong sold most of their share to help Nat slip out from the law and to bury their daughter's mistake. But Vegas prevented it from happening. Nat needed to pay for what he did to Chay.
Kinn helped him out with it for some reason. The name of Theerapanyakul, especially the heir to the main family's throne means more than enough to seal Nat's fate. He wondered if it was because of Kim. But as far as Vegas knows, the guy himself hasn't made any move, burying himself in his study and work. Kinn himself didn't say anything about Kim.
But it is still suspicious for Vegas. Porsche just shrugged it off when he shared his suspicion, but his slightly changed at the mention of Annakin Theerapanyakul.
His secretary is putting a paper of report to his desk and he reads it quickly. "Make sure he knows what rape truly feels like," he says. "And burn this as well." He returns the paper to his secretary who nods and then leaves him alone again.
Nat got two years of jail time with six months probation. It's a short time, but he feels one year and a half is not too bad if he can make Nat's jail time as hellish as possible.
In the meantime, he needs to coax Porschay to want to attend the same university as Macau, the same major if he can, so he can protect both of them better. Macau and Porsche are helping, but Porchay has yet to say yes.
The intercom in his office beeps, and then one of his secretaries speaks. "Sir, someone is wanting to see you. He is still at the front desk right now."
Vegas frowns. "Who?"
"Khun Pichaya Kittisawasd."
Porchay?
That's a pleasant surprise.
Vegas is smiling unknowingly. His lips are stretching on their own. "Send him in. Next time, if he wants to see me, send him right away to my office. Don't let him stand around downstairs. Oh, and prepare some drinks and snacks for him. Ask him what he wants."
"Yes, Sir."
Porchay comes in after a knock. "Phi," he greets with a smile. Vegas smiles back. "How's your head, Chay? Are you even fit to be out yet?"
Porchay smiles at Vegas's fusing. "I'm 100% healed two weeks ago, Phi."
Vegas lets out an unamused chuckle, clearly doesn't believe it but he lets it slide.
"Then what can I do for you, Nong?"
Porchay hesitates. "I'm graduating in 2 weeks, Phi. I want to ask for work from you."
"Work? You're too young for work."
"But Hia started working for you in high school," Chay refutes.
"Yeah, but we're doing that for fun. We didn't know it would become this successful. Just, pick a university and study, Chay. Go with Cau. I know he's been pestering you to go with him. I'll help with the fund if you're afraid of burdening your hia."
Macau's pick for a university is an expensive one. For Macau, it's probably just scrapped, but for Chay, the money is too big. Porsche already explained that the company has a policy to help young students like him, but surely not for that kind of exclusive university like that?
Chay doesn't know what to say. He is so deep in thought that he doesn't even know the secretary brings his milk tea and snacks in front of him.
Vegas opts to not say anything and just studies his beloved's face for a long time until his secretary interrupts him with a message that his next appointment is ten minutes away.
He sighs.
"Tell you what," he says to Porchay who instantly looks up to him, "You go with Cau to the same university, I'll let you part-time in one of the cafes. Both of you. Cau needs to learn that earning money is not easy."
"But it's so expensive ..."
Vegas pretends to sigh. "Help your phi out, Nong. I need to keep an eye on Macau and I can't do that personally with my busy schedule. I need you as his voice of reason if he wants to do something stupid."
Well, that's reasonable, Porchay thinks. Macau tends to do stupid stuff and is stupider if not supervised.
He is now eyeing Vegas suspiciously but finds nothing in that handsome face.
"Alright," he says, finally. "I'll take it."
Vegas smiles, big. He stands up and hugs Porchay who just stands there and takes it with a heart that feels like it's jumping out of its cage. "Thank you," the older one says as he brushes Chay's hair. Porchay feels he is about to die. "I know I can count on you."
Vegas's smile, the one that Porchay can't see, is a wicked one.
